- Kapitel 14 -

The fool says there is no God

(Psalm 53:1-6; Isaiah 59:1-17; Romans 3:9-20)

Only foolish people say to themselves, “There is no God!” People who say those things only do corrupt deeds; there is not one of them who does what is good.

From heaven Yahweh looks down at everyone; he looks to see if anyone is very wise, wise enough to desire to know him.

Everyone turns away from Yahweh. They are depraved and do disgusting, filthy things. No one does what is good.

Will those evil people never learn what God will do to punish them? They act violently toward Yahweh’s people and want to consume them like one who eats food consumes it, and they never pray to Yahweh.

But some day they will become very terrified because God helps those who act righteously and will punish those who reject him.

Those who do evil may prevent helpless people from doing what they plan to do, but Yahweh protects them.

Out of Zion Yahweh will come and rescue the Israelite people! He will make his people free again and will bring them back to their home. On that day all of us Israelite people will rejoice, and we, who are also called the descendants of Jacob, will be happy.

Der Narr sagt, es gibt keinen Gott

Zum Ende, ein Psalm Davids. Es spricht der Tor in seinem Herzen: “Es ist kein Gott!” Verderbt sind sie und verabscheuungswürdig sind sie geworden in ihren Anschlägen. Keiner ist, der Gutes tue, auch nicht ein einziger.

Der Herr blickt vom Himmel auf die Menschenkinder, zu sehen, ob einer einsichtig sei oder nach Gott frage.

Alle sind sie abgewichen, insgesamt unnütz geworden; keiner ist, der Gutes tue, auch nicht ein einziger. Ein offenes Grab ist ihr Schlund; mit ihren Zungen handeln sie trüglich, Natterngift ist unter ihren Lippen. Von Lästerung und Bitterkeit ist ihr Mund voll, behend sind ihre Füße zum Blutvergießen. Verderben und Unglück sind auf ihren Wegen und den Weg des Friedens kennen sie nicht, die Furcht Gottes ist nicht vor ihren Augen.

Sind nicht ohne Einsicht alle, die Übles tun, die mein Volk verschlingen wie einen Bissen Brot?

Den Herrn riefen sie nicht an; dort zitterten sie vor Furcht, wo nichts zu fürchten war.

Denn der Herr ist mit dem Geschlechte der Gerechten; den Ratschluss des Armen habt ihr verhöhnt, dass der Herr seine Hoffnung sei.

O dass doch Israel Heil aus Sion käme! Wenn der Herr die Gefangenschaft seines Volkes abwendet, wird Jakob frohlocken und Israel sich freuen!
