- Kapitel 9 -

(Matthew 17:1–13; Luke 9:28–36; 2 Peter 1:16–21)

And he saide vnto them, Verely I say vnto you, that there be some of them that stande here, which shall not taste of death till they haue seene the kingdome of God come with power.

And sixe dayes after, Iesus taketh vnto him Peter, and Iames, and Iohn, and carieth them vp into an hie mountaine out of the way alone, and his shape was changed before them.

And his rayment did shine, and was very white, as snowe, so white as no fuller can make vpon the earth.

And there appeared vnto them Elias with Moses, and they were talking with Iesus.

Then Peter answered, and said to Iesus, Master, it is good for vs to be here: let vs make also three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

Yet hee knewe not what he saide: for they were afraide.

And there was a cloude that shadowed them, and a voyce came out of the cloude, saying, This is my beloued Sonne: heare him.

And suddenly they looked roud about, and sawe no more any man saue Iesus only with them.

And as they came downe from the mountaine, he charged them, that they should tell no man what they had seene, saue when the Sonne of man were risen from the dead againe.

So they kept that matter to themselues, and demaunded one of another, what the rising from the dead againe should meane?

Also they asked him, saying, Why say the Scribes, that Elias must first come?

And he answered, and said vnto them, Elias verely shall first come, and restore all things: and as it is written of the Sonne of man, hee must suffer many things, and be set at nought.

But I say vnto you, that Elias is come, (and they haue done vnto him whatsoeuer they would) as it is written of him.

The Boy with an Evil Spirit

(Matthew 17:14–18; Luke 9:37–42)

And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the Scribes disputing with them.

And straightway all the people, when they behelde him, were amased, and ranne to him, and saluted him.

Then hee asked the Scribes, What dispute you among your selues?

And one of the companie answered, and said, Master, I haue brought my sonne vnto thee, which hath a dumme spirit:

And wheresoeuer he taketh him, he teareth him, and he fometh, and gnasheth his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples, that they should cast him out, and they could not.

Then he answered him, and said, O faithlesse generation, how long now shall I be with you! how long now shall I suffer you! Bring him vnto me.

So they brought him vnto him: and assoone as the spirit sawe him, hee tare him, and hee fell downe on the ground walowing and foming.

Then he asked his father, How long time is it since he hath bin thus? And he said, Of a childe.

And oft times he casteth him into the fire, and into the water to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, helpe vs, and haue compassion vpon vs.

And Iesus said vnto him, If thou canst beleeue it, al things are possible to him that beleeueth.

And straightway the father of the childe crying with teares, saide, Lord, I beleeue: helpe my vnbeliefe.

When Iesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the vncleane spirit, saying vnto him, Thou domme and deafe spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.

Then the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out, and he was as one dead, in so much that many said, He is dead.

But Iesus tooke his hande, and lift him vp, and he arose.

And when hee was come into the house, his disciples asked him secretly, Why could not we cast him out?

And he saide vnto them, This kinde can by no other meanes come foorth, but by prayer and fasting.

The Second Prediction of the Passion

(Matthew 17:22–23; Luke 9:43–45)

And they departed thence, and went together through Galile, and hee would not that any should haue knowen it.

For he taught his disciples, and saide vnto them, The Sonne of man shalbe deliuered into the handes of men, and they shall kill him, but after that he is killed, he shall rise againe the third day.

But they vnderstoode not that saying, and were afraide to aske him.

The Greatest in the Kingdom

(Matthew 18:1–5; Luke 9:46–50)

After, he came to Capernaum: and when he was in the house, he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among you by the way?

And they helde their peace: for by the way they reasoned among themselues, who should bee the chiefest.

And he sate downe, and called the twelue, and said to them, If any man desire to be first, the same shalbe last of all, and seruant vnto all.

And he tooke a litle childe, and set him in the middes of them, and tooke him in his armes, and sayd vnto them,

Whosoeuer shall receiue one of such litle children in my Name, receiueth me: and whosoeuer receiueth mee, receiueth not me, but him that sent me.

Then Iohn answered him, saying, Master, we sawe one casting out deuils by thy Name, which followeth not vs, and we forbade him, because he followeth vs not.

But Iesus sayd, Forbid him not: for there is no man that can doe a miracle by my Name, that can lightly speake euill of me.

For whosoeuer is not against vs, is on our part.

And whosoeuer shall giue you a cup of water to drinke for my Names sake, because ye belong to Christ, verely I say vnto you, he shall not lose his rewarde.

Temptations and Trespasses

(Matthew 18:6–9; Luke 17:1–4)

And whosoeuer shall offend one of these litle ones, that beleeue in me, it were better for him rather, that a milstone were hanged about his necke, and that he were cast into the sea.

Wherefore, if thine hand cause thee to offend, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life, maimed, then hauing two hands, to goe into hell, into the fire that neuer shalbe quenched,

Where their worme dyeth not, and the fire neuer goeth out.

Likewise, if thy foote cause thee to offend, cut it off: it is better for thee to go halt into life, then hauing two feete, to be cast into hell, into the fire that neuer shalbe quenched,

Where their worme dyeth not, and the fire neuer goeth out.

And if thine eye cause thee to offende, plucke it out: it is better for thee to goe into the kingdome of God with one eye, then hauing two eyes, to be cast into hell fire,

Where their worme dyeth not, and the fire neuer goeth out.

Good Salt

(Matthew 5:13–16; Luke 14:34–35)

For euery man shalbe salted with fire: and euery sacrifice shalbe salted with salt.

Salt is good: but if the salt be vnsauerie, wherewith shall it be seasoned? haue salt in your selues, and haue peace one with another.

(Matthäus 17,1-13; Lukas 9,28-36; 2. Petrus 1,16-21)

Und nach sechs Tagen nahm Jesus den Petrus, Jakobus und Johannes mit sich, und führte sie allein abseits auf einen hohen Berg, und ward verklärt vor ihnen.

Jesus verklärt auf dem Berg

Seine Kleider wurden glänzend und überaus weiß wie der Schnee, so wie sie kein Walker auf Erden weiß machen kann.

Und es erschien ihnen Elias mit Moses; und sie redeten mit Jesus.

Da nahm Petrus das Wort, und sprach zu Jesus, Meister, es ist für uns gut, hier zu sein; wir wollen drei Hütten bauen, dir eine, Moses eine, und Elias eine.

Er wusste nämlich nicht, was er sagte, denn sie waren vor Schrecken außer sich.

Und es kam eine Wolke, die sie überschattete; und es erscholl eine Stimme aus der Wolke, und sprach: Dies ist mein geliebter Sohn; ihn sollt ihr hören!

Und plötzlich, da sie um sich schauten, sahen sie niemand mehr, als Jesus allein mit ihnen.

Während sie nun vom Berge herabstiegen, gebot ihnen Jesus, sie sollten niemandem erzählen, was sie gesehen hätten, als nachdem der Menschensohn von den Toten würde auferstanden sein.

Und sie hielten dieses Wort bei sich, und fragten sich einander, was das wäre: „Nachdem er von den Toten würde auferstanden sein.“

Und sie fragten ihn, und sprachen: Warum sagen denn die Pharisäer und Schriftgelehrten, dass Elias zuvor kommen muss?

Er antwortete, und sprach zu ihnen: Elias wird allerdings zuerst kommen, und alles wieder herstellen; gleichwie auch von dem Menschensohne geschrieben steht, dass er vieles leiden und verachtet werden müsse.

Aber ich sage euch: Auch Elias ist schon gekommen, (und sie taten ihm, was sie nur wollten), wie es von ihm geschrieben steht.

Und da er zu seinen Jüngern kam, sah er viel Volk um sie her, und Schriftgelehrte mit ihnen im Streite.

Ein Junge wird geheilt

(Matthäus 17,14-18; Lukas 9,37-42)

Sobald aber das ganze Volk Jesus erblickte, erstaunte es und erschrak, lief hinzu, und grüßte ihn.

Und er fragte sie: Worüber streitet ihr miteinander?

Da antwortete einer aus dem Volke, und sprach: Meister! Ich habe meinen Sohn zu dir hergebracht, der einen stummen Geist hat.

Wo dieser immer ihn ergreift, reißt er ihn nieder; auch schäumet er, und knirscht mit den Zähnen, und zehret ab. Und ich sprach zu deinen Jüngern, dass sie ihn austreiben möchten; sie konnten es aber nicht.

Da antwortete er ihnen, und sprach: O du ungläubiges Geschlecht! Wie lange noch werde ich bei euch sein? Wie lange euch noch ertragen? Bringet ihn zu mir.

Und sie brachten ihn. Und als er ihn sah, zerrte ihn der Geist sogleich; und zur Erde niederstürzend, wälzte er sich schäumend.

Da fragte er seinen Vater: Wie lange Zeit ist es, dass ihm dieses widerfahren ist? Dieser aber sprach: Von Kindheit an.

Oft schon hat er ihn in´s Wasser geworfen, um ihn umzubringen. Vermagst du nun etwas, so hilf uns, und erbarme dich unser!

Jesus aber sprach zu ihm: Wenn du glauben kannst! Alles ist dem möglich, der glaubt.

Und sogleich rief der Vater des Knaben, und sagte weinend: Ich glaube, Herr! Hilf meinem Unglauben.

Da nun Jesus sah, dass das Volk zusammenlief, bedrohte er den unreinen Geist, und sprach zu ihm: Tauber und stummer Geist! Ich gebiete dir, fahre aus von ihm, und geh hinfort nicht mehr in ihn ein.

Da schrie er, zerrte ihn heftig, und fuhr aus von ihm; und er ward wie tot, so dass viele sagten: Er ist gestorben!

Jesus aber fasste ihn bei der Hand, und richtete ihn auf; und er stand auf.

Und als er nach Hause gekommen war, fragten ihn seine Jünger allein: Warum haben wir ihn nicht austreiben können?

Er sprach zu ihnen: Dies Art kann durch nichts ausgetrieben werden, als durch Gebet und Fasten.

Und von da gingen sie weiter, und zogen vorüber durch Galiläa; und er wollte nicht, dass es jemand wisse.

Jesus sagt erneut seinen Tod und seine Auferstehung voraus

(Matthäus 17,22-23; Lukas 9,43-45)

Er lehrte aber seine Jünger, und sprach zu ihnen: Der Menschensohn wird in die Hände der Menschen überliefert werden, und sie werden ihn töten; nachdem er aber getötet worden, wird er am dritten Tage wieder auferstehen.

Sie aber verstanden das Wort nicht, und fürchteten ihn zu fragen.

Und sie kamen nach Kapharnaum. Da sie nun zu Hause waren, fragte er sie: Was habt ihr auf dem Wege besprochen?

Wer ist der Größte?

(Matthäus 18,1-5; Lukas 9,46-50)

Sie aber schwiegen; denn sie hatten auf dem Wege miteinander gestritten, wer von ihnen der Größte wäre.

Da setzte er sich nieder, rief die Zwölfe, und sprach zu ihnen: Wenn jemand der Erste sein will, so wird er der Letzte von allen, und der Diener aller sein.

Und er nahm ein Kind, stellte es mitten unter sie, schloss es in seine Arme, und sprach zu ihnen:

Wer eines von diesen Kindern in meinem Namen aufnimmt, nimmt mich auf; und wer mich aufnimmt, nimmt nicht mich auf, sondern den, der mich gesandt hat.

Da nahm Johannes das Wort, und sprach: Meister! wir sahen jemanden, der in deinem Namen Teufel austreibt, der uns nicht nachfolgt, und wir verwehrten es ihm.

Jesus verbietet Sektierertum

Jesus aber sprach: Wehret es ihm nicht! denn niemand ist, der in meinem Namen ein Wunder wirkt, und so bald übles von mir reden könnte.

Denn wer nicht wider euch ist, ist für euch.

Und wer euch einen Becher Wassers zu trinken reicht in meinem Namen, darum weil ihr Christus angehöret, wahrlich, ich sage euch, er wird seinen Lohn nicht verlieren!

Wer aber einen von diesen Kleinen, die an mich glauben, ärgert, dem wäre es besser, dass ihm ein Mühlstein an den Hals gehängt, und er in´s Meer geworfen würde.

Jesus warnt vor Beleidigungen

(Matthäus 18,6-9; Lukas 17,1-4)

Wenn dich deine Hand ärgert, so haue sie ab; es ist dir besser, verstümmelt in das ewige Leben einzugehen, als beide Hände zu haben, und in die Hölle zu kommen, in das unauslöschliche Feuer,

wo ihr Wurm nicht stirbt, und das Feuer nicht erlischt.

Und wenn dein Fuß dich ärgert, so haue ihn ab; es ist dir besser, lahm in das ewige Leben einzugehen, als beide Füße zu haben, und in die Hölle unauslöschlichen Feuers geworfen zu werden,

wo ihr Wurm nicht stirbt, und das Feuer nicht erlischt.

Wenn dein Auge dich ärgert, so reiße es aus; es ist dir besser, einäugig in das Reich Gottes einzugehen, als zwei Augen zu haben, und in das höllische Feuer geworfen zu werden,

wo ihr Wurm nicht stirbt, und das Feuer nicht erlischt.

Denn jeder wird mit Feuer gesalzen werden, und jedes Opfer wird mit Salz gesalzen werden.

Geschmackloses Salz ist wertlos

(Matthäus 5,13-16; Lukas 14,34-35)

Das Salz ist gut; wenn aber das Salz seine Kraft verliert, womit werdet ihr es würzen? Habet Salz in euch, und habet Frieden untereinander!
