- Kapitel 10 -

(Matthew 19:1–12)

And he arose from thence, and went into the coastes of Iudea by the farre side of Iordan, and the people resorted vnto him againe, and as he was wont, he taught them againe.

Then the Pharises came and asked him, if it were lawfull for a man to put away his wife, and tempted him.

And he answered, and sayde vnto them, What did Moses commaund you?

And they sayd, Moses suffered to write a bill of diuorcement, and to put her away.

Then Iesus answered, and sayd vnto them, For the hardnesse of your heart he wrote this precept vnto you.

But at the beginning of the creation God made them male and female:

For this cause shall man leaue his father and mother, and cleaue vnto his wife.

And they twaine shalbe one flesh: so that they are no more twaine, but one flesh.

Therefore, what God hath coupled together, let not man separate.

And in the house his disciples asked him againe of that matter.

And he sayd vnto them, Whosoeuer shall put away his wife and marrie another, committeth adulterie against her.

And if a woman put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adulterie.

Jesus Blesses the Children

(Matthew 19:13–15; Luke 18:15–17)

Then they brought litle children to him, that he should touch them, and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.

But when Iesus sawe it, he was displeased, and said to them, Suffer the litle children to come vnto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdome of God.

Verely I say vnto you, Whosoeuer shall not receiue the kingdome of God as a litle childe, he shall not enter therein.

And he tooke them vp in his armes, and put his hands vpon them, and blessed them.

The Rich Young Man

(Matthew 19:16–30; Luke 18:18–30)

And when hee was gone out on the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I doe, that I may possesse eternall life?

Iesus sayde to him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, euen God.

Thou knowest the comandements, Thou shalt not commit adulterie. Thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not steale. Thou shalt not beare false witnesse. Thou shalt hurt no man. Honour thy father and mother.

Then he answered, and said to him, Master, all these things I haue obserued from my youth.

And Iesus looked vpon him, and loued him, and sayde vnto him, One thing is lacking vnto thee. Go and sell all that thou hast, and giue to the poore, and thou shalt haue treasure in heauen, and come, follow me, and take vp the crosse.

But hee was sad at that saying, and went away sorowfull: for he had great possessions.

And Iesus looked round about, and sayd vnto his disciples, Howe hardly doe they that haue riches, enter into the kingdome of God!

And his disciples were afraide at his words. But Iesus answered againe, and sayd vnto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches, to enter into the kingdome of God!

It is easier for a camel to goe through the eye of a needle, then for a riche man to enter into the kingdome of God.

And they were much more astonied, saying with themselues, Who then can be saued?

But Iesus looked vpon them, and sayd, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

Then Peter began to say vnto him, Loe, we haue forsaken all, and haue folowed thee.

Iesus answered, and sayd, Verely I say vnto you, there is no man that hath forsaken house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands for my sake and the Gospels,

But he shall receiue an hundred folde, now at this present, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands with persecutions, and in the world to come, eternall life.

But many that are first, shall be last, and the last, first.

The Third Prediction of the Passion

(Matthew 20:17–19; Luke 18:31–34)

And they were in the way going vp to Hierusalem, and Iesus went before them and they were troubled, and as they followed, they were afraide, and Iesus tooke the twelue againe, and began to tell them what things should come vnto him,

Saying, Beholde, we goe vp to Hierusalem, and the Sonne of man shall be deliuered vnto the hie Priests, and to the Scribes, and they shall condemne him to death, and shall deliuer him to the Gentiles.

And they shall mocke him, and scourge him, and spit vpon him, and kill him: but the third day he shall rise againe.

The Request of James and John

(Matthew 20:20–28)

Then Iames and Iohn the sonnes of Zebedeus came vnto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest doe for vs that we desire.

And he sayd vnto them, What would ye I should doe for you?

And they said to him, Graunt vnto vs, that we may sit, one at thy right hand, and the other at thy left hand in thy glory.

But Iesus sayd vnto them, Ye knowe not what ye aske. Can ye drinke of the cup that I shall drinke of, and be baptized with the baptisme that I shall be baptized with?

And they said vnto him, We can. But Iesus sayd vnto them, Ye shall drinke in deede of the cup that I shall drinke of, and be baptized with the baptisme wherewith I shalbe baptized:

But to sit at my right hand, and at my left, is not mine to giue, but it shalbe giuen to them for whome it is prepared.

And when the ten heard that, they began to disdaine at Iames and Iohn.

But Iesus called them vnto him, and sayd to them, Ye know that they which are princes among the Gentiles, haue domination ouer them, and they that be great among them, exercise authoritie ouer them.

But it shall not be so among you: but whosoeuer will be great among you, shall be your seruant.

And whosoeuer will be chiefe of you, shall be the seruant of all.

For euen the Sonne of man came not to be serued, but to serue, and to giue his life for the raunsome of many.

Jesus Heals Bartimaeus

(Matthew 20:29–34; Luke 18:35–43)

Then they came to Iericho: and as he went out of Iericho with his disciples, and a great multitude, Bartimeus the sonne of Timeus, a blinde man, sate by the wayes side, begging.

And when hee heard that it was Iesus of Nazareth, he began to crye, and to say, Iesus the Sonne of Dauid, haue mercy on me.

And many rebuked him, because he should holde his peace: but hee cryed much more, O Sonne of Dauid, haue mercy on me.

Then Iesus stood still, and commanded him to be called: and they called the blind, saying vnto him, Be of good comfort: arise, he calleth thee.

So he threwe away his cloke, and rose, and came to Iesus.

And Iesus answered, and said vnto him, What wilt thou that I doe vnto thee? And the blinde sayd vnto him, Lord, that I may receiue sight.

Then Iesus sayde vnto him, Goe thy way: thy fayth hath saued thee. And by and by, he receiued his sight, and folowed Iesus in the way.

Heirat und Ehescheidung

(Matthäus 19,1-12)

Und von da machte er sich auf, und kam an die Grenzen von Judäa jenseits des Jordans; und das Volk versammelte sich wieder bei ihm, und wiederum lehrte er sie, wie er gewohnt war.

Da traten die Pharisäer hinzu, versuchten ihn und fragten: Ist es einem Manne erlaubt, sein Weib zu entlassen?

Er aber antwortete, und sprach zu ihnen: Was hat euch Moses geboten?

Sie sprachen: Moses hat erlaubt, einen Scheidebrief zu schreiben, und das Weib zu entlassen.

Jesus antwortete ihnen, und sprach: Wegen der Härte ihres Herzens hat er euch dieses Gebot geschrieben.

Vom Anfange der Schöpfung aber hat Gott sie als Mann und Weib geschaffen.

Darum wird der Mann Vater und Mutter verlassen, und seinem Weibe anhangen.

Und es werden zwei in einem Fleische sein. Sie sind also nicht mehr zwei, sondern ein Fleisch.

Was nun Gott verbunden hat, soll der Mensch nicht trennen.

Und zu Hause fragten ihn seine Jünger noch einmal darüber.

Er sprach zu ihnen: Wer immer sein Weib entlässt, und eine andere nimmt, der begeht an ihr einen Ehebruch.

Und wenn ein Weib ihren Mann entlässt, und einen anderen heiratet, so bricht sie die Ehe.

Jesus segnet kleine Kinder

(Matthäus 19,13-15; Lukas 18,15-17)

Und sie brachten Kindlein zu ihm, dass er sie berühren möchte. Die Jünger aber fuhren die hart an, welche sie brachten.

Da Jesus sie sah, ward er unwillig, und sprach zu ihnen: Lasset die Kindlein zu mir kommen, und wehret ihnen nicht; denn für solche ist das Reich Gottes.

Wahrlich, sage ich euch, wer das Reich Gottes nicht aufnimmt wie ein Kind, wird in dasselbe nicht eingehen!

Und er schloss sie in seine Arme, legte ihnen die Hände auf, und segnete sie.

Jesus gibt dem reichen jungen Herrscher Ratschläge

(Matthäus 19,16-30; Lukas 18,18-30)

Und als er auf die Straße hinausgegangen war, lief einer herbei, kniete vor ihm nieder, und fragte ihn: Guter Meister! was soll ich tun, dass ich das ewige Leben erlange?

Jesus aber sprach zu ihm: Was nennest du mich gut? Niemand ist gut, als nur einer, Gott.

Die Gebote kennst du: Du sollst nicht ehebrechen; du sollst nicht töten; du sollst nicht stehlen; du sollst kein falsches Zeugnis geben; du sollst nicht übervorteilen; du sollst Vater und Mutter ehren.

Jener aber antwortete, und sprach zu ihm: Meister! dies alles habe ich beobachtet von meiner Jugend an.

Jesus aber blickte ihn an, gewann ihn lieb, und sprach zu ihm: Eines fehlt dir noch; gehe hin, verkaufe alles, was du hast, und gib es den Armen, und du wirst einen Schatz im Himmel haben; und komm, folge mir!

Da ward er traurig über dieses Wort, und ging betrübt davon; denn er hatte viele Besitztümer.

Bei Gott sind alle Dinge möglich

Und Jesus blickte um sich, und sprach zu seinen Jüngern: Wie schwer ist es, dass die, welche viel Geld haben, in das Reich Gottes eingehen!

Die Jünger aber erstaunten über seine Worte. Da hob Jesus abermals an, und sprach zu ihnen: Kindlein, wie schwer ist es, dass die, welche auf das Geld ihr Vertrauen setzen, in das Reich Gottes eingehen!

Es ist leichter, dass ein Kamel durch ein Nadelöhr durchgehe, als dass ein Reicher in das Reich Gottes eingehe!

Da verwunderten sie sich noch mehr, und sprachen zueinander: Wer kann wohl selig werden?

Und Jesus blickte sie an, und sprach: Bei den Menschen ist es unmöglich, aber nicht bei Gott; denn bei Gott ist alles möglich.

Da begann Petrus, und sprach zu ihm: Siehe, wir haben alles verlassen, und sind dir gefolgt!

Jesus antwortete, und sprach: Wahrlich, ich sage euch, es ist niemand, der Haus, oder Brüder, oder Schwestern, oder Vater, oder Mutter, oder Kinder, oder Äcker verlassen hat um meinet- und des Evangeliums wegen,

der nicht hundertmal so viel empfinge, jetzt in dieser Zeit Häuser und Brüder, und Schwestern und Mütter und Kinder, und Äcker, inmitten von Verfolgungen, und in der zukünftigen Welt das ewige Leben!

Viele der Ersten aber werden die Letzten, und viele der Letzten die Ersten sein.

Jesus sagt ein drittes Mal seinen Tod und seine Auferstehung voraus

(Matthäus 20,17-19; Lukas 18,31-34)

Sie waren nun auf dem Wege, und zogen nach Jerusalem hinauf; Jesus ging vor ihnen her, sie aber folgten staunend voller Bangigkeit. Und er nahm abermals die Zwölf zu sich, und fing an ihnen zu sagen, was ihm widerfahren würde.

Siehe, wir gehen hinauf nach Jerusalem, und der Menschensohn wird den Hohenpriestern und Schriftgelehrten und Ältesten überliefert werden; sie werden ihn zum Tode verurteilen, und den Heiden überliefern;

und werden ihn verspotten, und anspeien, und geißeln und töten; und am dritten Tage wird er wieder auferstehen.

Größe ist Dienen

(Matthäus 20,20-28)

Da traten Jakobus und Johannes, die Söhne des Zebedäus, zu ihm, und sprachen: Meister! wir möchten, dass du uns gewährtest, um was immer wir bitten.

Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Was wollet ihr, dass ich euch tun soll?

Sie sprachen: Gib uns, dass wir, einer zu deiner Rechten, und einer zu deiner Linken sitzen in deiner Herrlichkeit!

Jesus aber sprach zu ihnen: Ihr wisset nicht, um was ihr bittet Könnet ihr den Kelch trinken, den ich trinke? Oder getauft werden mit der Taufe, mit der ich getauft werde?

Sie aber sprachen zu ihm: Wir können es. Da sprach Jesus zu ihnen: Ihr werdet zwar den Kelch trinken, den ich trinke, und mit der Taufe getauft werden, womit ich getauft werde;

aber das Sitzen zu meiner Rechten und zu meiner Linken steht nicht bei mir, euch zu geben, sondern denen, welchen es bereitet ist.

Als die zehn dies hörten, fingen sie an, über Jakobus und Johannes unwillig zu werden.

Jesus aber rief sie zu sich, und sprach zu ihnen: Ihr wisset, dass die, welche als Fürsten der Völker angesehen werden, Gewaltherrscher sind über sie, und dass ihre Großen Gewalt über sie üben;

nicht so aber ist es unter euch, sondern wer da größer werden will, wird euer Diener sein;

Und wer unter euch der Erste sein will, wird aller Knecht sein;

denn auch der Menschensohn ist nicht gekommen, sich bedienen zu lassen, sondern zu dienen, und sein Leben dahinzugeben zur Erlösung für viele.

Jesus heilt den blinden Bartimäus

(Matthäus 20,29-34; Lukas 18,35-43)

Und sie kamen nach Jericho. Und als er von Jericho herauszog mit seinen Jüngern und einer sehr großen Menge Volkes, saß der Sohn des Timäus, Bartimäus, ein Blinder, bettelnd am Wege.

Da dieser hörte, dass es Jesus von Nazareth sei, fing er an zu rufen, und zu sagen: Jesus, du Sohn Davids! erbarme dich meiner.

Und viele verwiesen es ihm, dass er schweigen sollte. Er aber rief noch viel mehr: Sohn Davids! erbarme dich meiner!

Da stand Jesus still, und befahl, ihn zu rufen. Und sie riefen den Blinden, und sprachen zu ihm: Sei getrost, stehe auf, er ruft dich!

Da warf er seinen Mantel weg, sprang auf, und kam zu ihm.

Und Jesus redete ihn an, und sprach zu ihm: Was willst du, dass ich dir tun soll? Der Blinde aber sprach zu ihm: Meister! dass ich sehend werde!

Da sprach Jesus zu ihm: Gehe hin, dein Glaube hat dir geholfen! Und sogleich sah er, und folgte ihm auf dem Wege.
