- Kapitel 8 -

And Iesus went vnto the mount of Oliues,

And early in the morning came againe into the Temple, and all the people came vnto him, and he sate downe, and taught them.

Then the Scribes, and the Pharises brought vnto him a woman, taken in adulterie, and set her in the middes,

And said vnto him, Master, we foud this woman committing adulterie, euen in the very acte.

Now Moses in our Law commanded, that such should be stoned: what sayest thou therefore?

And this they saide to tempt him, that they might haue, whereof to accuse him. But Iesus stouped downe, and with his finger wrote on the groud.

And while they continued asking him, hee lift himselfe vp, and sayde vnto them, Let him that is among you without sinne, cast the first stone at her.

And againe hee stouped downe, and wrote on the ground.

And when they heard it, being accused by their owne conscience, they went out one by one, beginning at ye eldest euen to the last: so Iesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the mids.

When Iesus had lift vp himselfe againe, and sawe no man, but the woman, hee saide vnto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

She said, No man, Lord. And Iesus said, Neither do I condemne thee: go and sinne no more.

Jesus the Light of the World

(1 John 1:5–10)

Then spake Iesus againe vnto them, saying, I am that light of the worlde: hee that followeth mee, shall not walke in darkenes, but shall haue that light of life.

The Pharises therefore saide vnto him, Thou bearest recorde of thy selfe: thy recorde is not true.

Iesus answered, and sayde vnto them, Though I beare recorde of my selfe, yet my recorde is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go: but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I goe.

Ye iudge after the flesh: I iudge no man.

And if I also iudge, my iudgement is true: for I am not alone, but I, and the Father, that sent mee.

And it is also written in your Lawe, that the testimonie of two men is true.

I am one that beare witnes of my selfe, and the Father that sent me, beareth witnes of me.

Then saide they vnto him, Where is that Father of thine? Iesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor that Father of mine. If ye had knowen me, ye should haue knowen that Father of mine also.

These wordes spake Iesus in the treasurie, as hee taught in the Temple, and no man layde handes on him: for his houre was not yet come.

Then saide Iesus againe vnto them, I goe my way, and ye shall seeke me, and shall die in your sinnes, Whither I goe, can ye not come.

Then said the Iewes, Will he kill himselfe, because he saith, Whither I goe, can ye not come?

And hee saide vnto them, Ye are from beneath, I am from aboue: ye are of this world, I am not of this worlde.

I said therefore vnto you, That ye shall die in your sinnes: for except ye beleeue, that I am he, ye shall die in your sinnes.

Then saide they vnto him, Who art thou? And Iesus saide vnto them, Euen the same thing that I said vnto you from the beginning.

I haue many things to say, and to iudge of you: but he that sent me, is true, and the things that I haue heard of him, those speake I to the world.

They vnderstoode not that hee spake to them of the Father.

Then said Iesus vnto them, When ye haue lift vp the Sonne of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I doe nothing of my selfe, but as my Father hath taught me, so I speake these things.

For he that sent me, is with me: the Father hath not left me alone, because I do alwayes those things that please him.

The Truth Will Set You Free

(2 John 1:4–6)

As hee spake these thinges, many beleeued in him.

Then saide Iesus to the Iewes which beleeued in him, If ye continue in my worde, ye are verely my disciples,

And shall know the trueth, and the trueth shall make you free.

They answered him, Wee be Abrahams seede, and were neuer bonde to any man: why sayest thou then, Ye shalbe made free?

Iesus answered them, Verely, verely I say vnto you, that whosoeuer committeth sinne, is the seruant of sinne.

And the seruant abideth not in the house for euer: but the Sonne abideth for euer.

If that Sonne therefore shall make you free, ye shalbe free in deede.

I know that ye are Abrahams seede, but yee seeke to kill mee, because my worde hath no place in you.

I speake that which I haue seene with my Father: and ye doe that which ye haue seene with your father.

They answered, and saide vnto him, Abraham is our father. Iesus said vnto them, If ye were Abrahams children, ye woulde doe the workes of Abraham.

But nowe ye goe about to kill mee, a man that haue told you the trueth, which I haue heard of God: this did not Abraham.

Ye do the workes of your father. Then said they to him, We are not borne of fornication: we haue one Father, which is God.

Therefore Iesus sayde vnto them, If God were your Father, then woulde ye loue mee: for I proceeded foorth, and came from God, neither came I of my selfe, but he sent me.

Why doe ye not vnderstande my talke? because ye cannot heare my worde.

Ye are of your father the deuill, and the lustes of your father ye will doe: hee hath bene a murtherer from the beginning, and abode not in the trueth, because there is no trueth in him. When hee speaketh a lie, then speaketh hee of his owne: for he is a liar, and the father thereof.

And because I tell you the trueth, yee beleeue me not.

Which of you can rebuke me of sinne? and if I say the trueth, why do ye not beleeue me?

He that is of God, heareth Gods wordes: yee therefore heare them not, because ye are not of God.

Before Abraham Was Born, I Am

Then answered the Iewes, and said vnto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritane, and hast a deuil?

Iesus answered, I haue not a deuil, but I honour my Father, and ye haue dishonoured me.

And I seeke not mine owne praise: but there is one that seeketh it, and iudgeth.

Verely, verely I say vnto you, If a man keepe my word, he shall neuer see death.

Then said the Iewes to him, Now know we that thou hast a deuill. Abraham is dead, and the Prophets: and thou sayest, If a man keepe my worde, he shall neuer taste of death.

Art thou greater then our father Abraham, which is dead? and the Prophets are dead: whome makest thou thy selfe?

Iesus answered, If I honour my selfe, mine honour is nothing worth: it is my Father that honoureth me, whome ye say, that hee is your God.

Yet ye haue not knowen him: but I knowe him, and if I should say I know him not, I should be a liar like vnto you: but I knowe him, and keepe his worde.

Your father Abraham reioyced to see my day, and he sawe it, and was glad.

Then sayd ye Iewes vnto him, Thou art not yet fiftie yeere olde, and hast thou seene Abraham?

Iesus sayd vnto them, Verely, verely I say vnto you, before Abraham was, I am.

Then tooke they vp stones, to cast at him, but Iesus hid himselfe, and went out of the Temple: And hee passed through the middes of them, and so went his way.

Jesus aber ging fort auf den Ölberg;

und früh Morgens kam er wieder in den Tempel, und alles Volk kam zu ihm, und er setzte sich, und lehrte sie.

Die Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer aber führten ein Weib hinzu, welches im Ehebruch ertappt worden war, stellten es in die Mitte,

und sprachen zu ihm: Meister! dieses Weib ist auf frischer Tat im Ehebruch ergriffen worden.

Nun hat uns Moses im Gesetze befohlen, solche zu steinigen; was sagst du also?

Dies sprachen sie aber, um ihn zu versuchen, damit sie ihn anklagen könnten. Jesus aber bückte sich nieder, und schrieb mit dem Finger auf die Erde.

Als sie nun auf ihre Frage an ihn bestanden, richtete er sich auf, und sprach zu ihnen: Wer ohne Sünde ist unter euch, werfe zuerst den Stein auf sie!

Und er bückte sich abermals, und schrieb auf die Erde.

Da sie es aber hörten, gingen sie einer nach dem anderen hinaus, von den Ältesten angefangen; und Jesus blieb allein zurück, und das Weib, das in der Mitte stand.

Jesus aber richtete sich auf, und sprach zu ihr: Weib! wo sind die, welche dich anklagten? Hat niemand dich verdammet?

Das Weib sprach: Niemand, Herr! Da sagte Jesus: Auch ich werde dich nicht verdammen. Gehe hin, und sündige fortan nicht mehr!

(1. Johannes 1,5-10)

Wiederum nun redete Jesus zu ihnen, und sprach: Ich bin das Licht der Welt; wer mir nachfolget, wandelt nicht in der Finsternis, sondern wird das Licht des Lebens haben.

Jesus verteidigt sein Selbstzeugnis

Da sprachen die Pharisäer zu ihm: Du gibst Zeugnis von dir selbst; dein Zeugnis ist nicht wahr.

Jesus antwortete, und sprach zu ihnen: Auch wenn ich von mir selbst Zeugnis gebe, so ist mein Zeugnis wahr, denn ich weiß, woher ich gekommen bin, und wohin ich gehe; ihr aber wisset nicht, woher ich komme, oder wohin ich gehe.

Ihr richtet nach dem Fleische; ich richte niemanden.

Auch wenn ich richte, ist mein Gericht wahrhaft; denn ich bin nicht allein, sondern ich, und der mich gesandt hat, der Vater.

In eurem Gesetze steht auch geschrieben, dass das Zeugnis zweier Menschen wahr sei.

Nun bin ich es, der von sich selbst Zeugnis gibt; und Zeugnis gibt von mir, der mich gesandt hat, der Vater.

Da sprachen sie zu ihm: Wo ist dein Vater? Jesus antwortete: Weder mich kennet ihr noch meinen Vater; wenn ihr mich kennen würdet, so würdet ihr auch wohl meinen Vater kennen.

Diese Worte redete Jesus bei dem Opferkasten, indem er im Tempel lehrte; und niemand ergriff ihn, denn seine Stunde war noch nicht gekommen.

Jesus sagt seinen Weggang voraus

Und Jesus sprach abermals zu ihnen: Ich gehe hin, und ihr werdet mich suchen, aber ihr werdet in eurer Sünde sterben. Wo ich hingehe, dahin könnet ihr nicht kommen.

Da sprachen die Juden: Will er sich etwa selbst töten, dass er sagt: Wo ich hingehe, dahin könnet ihr nicht kommen?

Und er sprach zu ihnen: Ihr seid von unten, ich bin von oben. Ihr seid von dieser Welt, ich bin nicht von dieser Welt.

Darum habe ich euch gesagt: Ihr werdet in euren Sünden sterben; denn wenn ihr nicht glaubet, dass ich es bin, so werdet ihr in eurer Sünde sterben.

Da sagten sie zu ihm: Wer bist du denn? Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Der Anfang, der ich auch zu euch rede.

Vieles habe ich über euch zu sagen und zu richten; aber der mich gesandt hat, ist wahrhaft, und was ich von ihm gehört habe, das rede ich in der Welt.

Und sie erkannten nicht, dass er Gott seinen Vater nannte.

Jesus sprach also zu ihnen: Wenn ihr den Menschensohn werdet erhöht haben, dann werdet ihr erkennen, dass ich es bin, und von mir selbst nichts tue, sondern dieses so rede, wie mich mein Vater gelehret hat.

Und der mich gesandt hat, ist mit mir, und lässt mich nicht allein, weil ich allezeit tue, was ihm wohlgefällig ist.

(2. Johannes 1,4-6)

Als er dies sagte, glaubten viele an ihn.

Die Wahrheit wird euch frei machen

Jesus sprach also zu den Juden, die an ihn glaubten: Wenn ihr in meinem Worte verharret, werdet ihr wahrhaft meine Jünger sein;

und werdet die Wahrheit erkennen, und die Wahrheit wird euch frei machen.

Sie antworteten ihm: Wir sind Nachkommen Abrahams, und waren niemals jemandes Knechte. Wie sagst du: Ihr werdet frei sein?

Jesus antwortete ihnen: Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch, jeder, der Sünde tut, ist ein Knecht der Sünde!

Der Knecht aber bleibt nicht auf ewig in dem Hause; der Sohn aber bleibt ewig.

Wenn euch also der Sohn frei macht, so werdet ihr wahrhaft frei sein.

Abrahams Same und der des Satans

Ich weiß, dass ihr Söhne Abrahams seid; aber ihr suchet mich zu töten, weil mein Wort in euch nicht Raum gewinnet.

Ich rede, was ich bei meinem Vater gesehen habe; und ihr tut, was ihr bei eurem Vater gesehen habt.

Sie antworteten, und sprachen zu ihm: Unser Vater ist Abraham. Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Wenn ihr Kinder Abrahams seid, so tuet die Werke Abrahams!

Nun aber suchet ihr mich zu töten, einen Menschen, der zu euch die Wahrheit geredet hat, welche ich von Gott gehört habe; dies hat Abraham nicht getan.

Ihr tuet die Werke eures Vaters. Da sprachen sie zu ihm: Wir sind nicht aus Ehebruch geboren; einen Vater haben wir, Gott.

Jesus aber sprach zu ihnen: Wenn Gott euer Vater wäre, so würdet ihr mich ja gewiss lieben; weil ich von Gott ausgegangen und gekommen bin; weil ich nicht von mir selbst gekommen bin, sondern er hat mich gesandt.

Warum verstehet ihr meine Sprache nicht? Weil ihr mein Wort nicht hören könnet.

Ihr habt den Teufel zum Vater, und wollet nach den Gelüsten eures Vaters tun. Dieser war ein Menschenmörder von Anbeginn, und ist in der Wahrheit nicht bestanden; denn Wahrheit ist nicht in ihm. Wenn er Lüge redet, so redet er aus dem, was ihm eigen ist, weil er ein Lügner ist und Vater der Lüge.

Wenn ich aber die Wahrheit rede, so glaubet ihr mir nicht.

Wer aus euch kann mich einer Sünde beschuldigen? Wenn ich euch die Wahrheit sage, warum glaubet ihr mir nicht?

Wer aus Gott ist, der höret die Worte Gottes; darum höret ihr nicht darauf, weil ihr nicht aus Gott seid.

Bevor Abraham war, ICH BIN

Da antworteten die Juden, und sprachen zu ihm: Sagen wir nicht mit Recht, dass du ein Samariter bist, und einen bösen Geist hast?

Jesus antwortete: Ich habe keinen bösen Geist, sondern ich ehre meinen Vater, und ihr verunehret mich.

Ich aber suche nicht meine Ehre; es ist einer, der sie suchet und richtet.

Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch, wenn jemand meine Worte bewahrt, wird er den Tod nicht sehen in Ewigkeit!

Da sprachen die Juden: Nun wissen wir, dass du einen bösen Geist hast. Abraham ist gestorben und die Propheten, und du sprichst: Wenn jemand mein Wort bewahrt, wird er den Tod nicht kosten in Ewigkeit!

Bist du denn größer als unser Vater Abraham, der gestorben ist? Auch die Propheten sind gestorben. Zu wem machest du dich selbst?

Jesus antwortete: Wenn ich mich selbst verherrliche, so ist meine Ehre nichts; mein Vater ist es, der mich verherrlicht, von welchem ihr saget, er sei euer Gott.

Und ihr kennet ihn nicht; ich aber kenne ihn, und wenn ich sagen würde: Ich kenne ihn nicht, so wäre ich ein Lügner, gleichwie ihr. Aber ich kenne ihn, und bewahre sein Wort.

Abraham, euer Vater, frohlockte, dass er meinen Tag sehen sollte; er sah ihn und freute sich.

Da sprachen die Juden zu ihm: Du bist noch nicht fünfzig Jahre alt, und hast Abraham gesehen?

Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch, ehedem Abraham ward, bin ich!

Da hoben sie Steine auf, um sie auf ihn zu werfen; Jesus aber verbarg sich, und ging hinweg aus dem Tempel.
