- Kapitel 70 -

Make haste, O Lord, to help me

(Psalm 40:1-17; Psalm 141:1-10)

Unto the end. A Psalm of David, in remembrance that the Lord had saved him.

O God, reach out to help me. O Lord, hasten to assist me.

May those who seek my soul be confounded and awed.

May those who wish evils upon me be turned back and blush with shame. May they be turned away immediately, blushing with shame, who say to me: “Well, well.”(a)

Let all who seek you exult and rejoice in you, and let those who love your salvation forever say: “The Lord be magnified.”

I am truly destitute and poor. O God, assist me. You are my helper and my deliverer. O Lord, do not delay.

Eile, o HERR, mir zu helfen

Zum Ende, ein Psalm Davids, zum Andenken, dass ihn der Herr errettet hat.

O Gott habe acht auf meine Hilfe, Herr! eile, mir zu helfen.

Beschämt und zuschanden mögen werden, die mir nach dem Leben trachten.

Lass zurückweichen und beschämt werden, die mir Übles wollen; eilends lass zurückweichen und beschämt werden, die zu mir sprechen: Ha, ha!

Um deinetwillen aber lass frohlocken und sich freuen alle, die dich suchen; und die dein Heil lieben, mögen immerdar sprechen: Hochgelobt sei der Herr!

Ich aber bin elend und arm, o Gott! hilf mir. Mein Helfer und mein Erretter bist du; o Herr! säume nicht.
