- Kapitel 5 -

Then again I lifted up my eyes and saw, and behold, a flying scroll.

He said to me, “What do you see?” I answered, “I see a flying scroll; its length is twenty cubits,(a) and its width ten cubits.”

Then he said to me, “This is the curse that goes out over the surface of the whole land, for everyone who steals shall be cut off according to it on the one side; and everyone who swears falsely shall be cut off according to it on the other side.

I will cause it to go out,” says the LORD of Armies, “and it will enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him who swears falsely by my name; and it will remain in the middle of his house, and will destroy it with its timber and its stones.”

The Vision of the Woman in a Basket

Then the angel who talked with me came forward and said to me, “Lift up now your eyes and see what this is that is appearing.”

I said, “What is it?” He said, “This is the ephah(b) basket that is appearing.” He said moreover, “This is their appearance in all the land—

and behold, a lead cover weighing one talent

was lifted up—and there was a woman sitting in the middle of the ephah(d) basket.”

He said, “This is Wickedness;” and he threw her down into the middle of the ephah basket; and he threw the lead weight on its mouth.

Then I lifted up my eyes and saw, and behold, there were two women; and the wind was in their wings. Now they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the ephah basket between earth and the sky.

Then I said to the angel who talked with me, “Where are these carrying the ephah basket?”

He said to me, “To build her a house in the land of Shinar. When it is prepared, she will be set there in her own place.”

Vision von der fliegenden Schriftrolle

Und wieder erhob ich meine Augen und schaute: siehe, da war eine fliegende Schriftrolle.

Da sprach er zu mir: Was siehst du? Ich sprach: Ich sehe eine fliegende Rolle, ihre Länge ist zwanzig Ellen und ihre Breite zehn Ellen.

Er sprach zu mir: Dies ist der Fluch, der ausgeht über das ganze Land; denn jeder Dieb wird, wie darin geschrieben steht, gerichtet werden, und jeder Schwörende wird gleichfalls darnach gerichtet werden.

Ich lasse ihn ausgehen, spricht der Herr der Heerscharen, dass er in das Haus des Diebes und in das Haus des bei meinem Namen Falschschwörenden eindringe, und er soll mitten in dessen Hause bleiben und es verzehren, das Holz desselben samt den Steinen.

Vision von der Frau im Korb

Wieder trat der Engel, der mit mir redete, hervor und sprach zu mir: Erhebe deine Augen und schaue, was dies ist, was erscheint.

Ich sprach: Was ist es? Er erwiderte: Es ist ein Maß, das erscheint. Und er sprach: Dies ist ihr Aussehen über das ganze Land hin.

Und siehe, eine schwere Scheibe von Blei schwebte herbei; siehe, ein Weib saß mitten in dem Maß.

Da sprach er: Dies ist die Gottlosigkeit! Und er warf sie in das Maß hinein und tat die Bleimasse auf dessen Mündung.

Als ich nun meine Augen erhob und schaute, siehe, da erschienen zwei Weiber. Der Wind hob ihre Schwingen, die wie Habichtsflügel gestaltet waren; diese erhoben das Maß zwischen Himmel und Erde.

Da sprach ich zu dem Engel, der mit mir redete: Wohin bringen diese das Maß?

Er antwortete mir: Dass ihm eine Wohnung gebaut werde im Lande Sennaar, dort wird es aufgerichtet und niedergelassen werden auf sein Gestell.
