- Kapitel 32 -

Then it happened in the twelfth month of the twelfth year, on the first of the month, that the word of Yahweh came to me and said,

“Son of man, lift up a lament concerning Pharaoh the king of Egypt; say to him, ’You are like a young lion among the nations, but you are like a monster in the seas; you churn up the water, you stir up the waters with your feet and muddy their waters.

Lord Yahweh says this: So I will spread my net over you in the assembly of many peoples, and they will lift you up in my net.

I will abandon you in the land. I will throw you into a field and cause all the birds of the heavens to settle on you; the hunger of all living animals on earth will be satisfied by you.

For I will put your flesh on the mountains, and I will fill the valleys with your worm-filled corpse.

Then I will pour your blood over the mountains, and the stream beds will be filled with your blood.

Then when I put out your lamp, I will cover the heavens and darken its stars; I will cover the sun with clouds, and the moon will not shine.

I will darken all the glowing lights in the heavens over you, and I will put darkness over your land-this is Lord Yahweh’s declaration.

So I will terrify the heart of many peoples in lands that you do not know, when I bring about your collapse among the nations, among lands that you have not known.

I will shock many peoples concerning you; their kings will shudder in horror concerning you when I swing my sword before them. Every moment each one will tremble because of you, on the day of your downfall.

For Lord Yahweh says this: The sword of the king of Babylon will come against you.

I will cause your servants to fall by warriors’ swords-each warrior a terror of nations. These warriors will devastate the glory of Egypt and destroy all of its multitudes.

For I will destroy all the livestock from beside the plentiful waters; the foot of man will no longer stir the waters up, neither will the hooves of cattle stir them.

Then I will calm their waters and make their rivers run like oil- this is Lord Yahweh’s declaration.

When I make the land of Egypt-a land that was full-a ruined place, an abandoned place; when I attack all of her inhabitants, then they will know that I am Yahweh.

There will be a lament, for the daughters of the nations will lament over her; they will lament over Egypt. They will lament over all her servants!-this is Lord Yahweh’s declaration.’”

Egypt Cast into the Pit

Then it happened in the twelfth year, on the fifteenth day of the month, that the word of Yahweh came to me and said,

“Son of man, weep for the servants of Egypt and throw them down-her and the daughters of majestic nations-to the lowest earth with those who have gone down to the pit.

Ask them, ‘Are you really more beautiful than anyone else? Go down and lie with the uncircumcised.’

They will fall among those who were killed by the sword. Egypt is given to the sword; her enemies will seize her and her servants.

The strongest of the warriors in Sheol will declare about Egypt and her allies, ‘They have come down here! They will lie with the uncircumcised who were killed by the sword.’

Assyria is there with all her assembly. Her graves surround her; all of them were killed by the sword.

Those whose graves are set in the recesses of the pit are there, with all her assembly. Her graves surround all of those who were killed, who fell by the sword, those who brought terror on the land of the living.

Elam is there with all her servants. Her graves surround her; all of them were killed. Those who fell by the sword, who have gone down uncircumcised to the lowest parts of the earth, who brought their terrors on the land of the living and who now carry their own shame with them, together with the ones going down to the pit.

They set a bedroll for Elam and all her servants in the midst of the slain; her graves surround her. All of them are uncircumcised, killed by the sword, because they had brought their terrors on the land of the living. So they carry their own shame with them, together with the ones going down to the pit among all those who have been killed, those who are going down to the pit. Elam is among all those who were killed.

Meshech, Tubal, and all their servants are there! Their graves surround them. All of them are uncircumcised, killed by the sword, because they had brought their terrors on the land of the living.

They do not lie with the fallen warriors of the uncircumcised who have gone down to Sheol with all their weapons of war, and with their swords placed under their heads and their shields placed over their bones. For they were the terror of warriors in the land of the living.

So you, Egypt, will be destroyed in the midst of the uncircumcised! You will lie alongside of those who were killed by the sword.

Edom is there with her kings and all her leaders. They were powerful, but now they lie with those killed by the sword, with the uncircumcised, those who have gone down to the pit.

The princes of the north are there-all of them and all the Sidonians who went down with the dead! They were powerful and made others to be afraid, but now they lie there in shame, uncircumcised with those who were killed by the sword. They carry their own shame, together with the others who are going down to the pit.

Pharaoh will look and be comforted about all his servants who were killed by the sword-this is Lord Yahweh’s declaration.

I made him cause terror in the land of the living, but he will lie down in the midst of the uncircumcised, among those killed by the sword-this is Lord Yahweh’s declaration.”

In the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, in the first day of the month, “the LORD’s word came to me, saying,

‘Son of man, take up a lamentation over Pharaoh king of Egypt, and tell him, “You were likened to a young lion of the nations; yet you are as a monster in the seas. You broke out with your rivers, and troubled the waters with your feet, and fouled their rivers.”

The Lord GOD says: “I will spread out my net on you with a company of many peoples. They will bring you up in my net.

I will leave you on the land. I will cast you out on the open field, and will cause all the birds of the sky to settle on you. I will satisfy the animals of the whole earth with you.

I will lay your flesh on the mountains, and fill the valleys with your height.

I will also water the land in which you swim with your blood, even to the mountains. The watercourses will be full of you.

When I extinguish you, I will cover the heavens and make its stars dark. I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon won’t give its light.

I will make all the bright lights of the sky dark over you, and set darkness on your land,” says the Lord GOD.

“I will also trouble the hearts of many peoples, when I bring your destruction among the nations, into the countries which you have not known.

Yes, I will make many peoples amazed at you, and their kings will be horribly afraid for you, when I brandish my sword before them. They will tremble at every moment, every man for his own life, in the day of your fall.”

For the Lord GOD says: “The sword of the king of Babylon will come on you.

I will cause your multitude to fall by the swords of the mighty. They are all the ruthless of the nations. They will bring the pride of Egypt to nothing, and all its multitude will be destroyed.

I will destroy also all its animals from beside many waters. The foot of man won’t trouble them any more, nor will the hoofs of animals trouble them.

Then I will make their waters clear, and cause their rivers to run like oil,” says the Lord GOD.

“When I make the land of Egypt desolate and waste, a land destitute of that of which it was full, when I strike all those who dwell therein, then they will know that I am the LORD.

“‘“This is the lamentation with which they will lament. The daughters of the nations will lament with this. They will lament with it over Egypt, and over all her multitude,” says the Lord GOD.’”

Egypt Cast into the Pit

Also in the twelfth year, in the fifteenth day of the month, the LORD’s word came to me, saying,

“Son of man, wail for the multitude of Egypt, and cast them down, even her and the daughters of the famous nations, to the lower parts of the earth, with those who go down into the pit.

Whom do you pass in beauty? Go down, and be laid with the uncircumcised.

They will fall among those who are slain by the sword. She is delivered to the sword. Draw her away with all her multitudes.

The strong among the mighty will speak to him out of the middle of Sheol

with those who help him. They have gone down. The uncircumcised lie still, slain by the sword.

“Asshur is there with all her company. Her graves are all around her. All of them are slain, fallen by the sword,

whose graves are set in the uttermost parts of the pit, and her company is around her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who caused terror in the land of the living.

“There is Elam and all her multitude around her grave; all of them slain, fallen by the sword, who have gone down uncircumcised into the lower parts of the earth, who caused their terror in the land of the living, and have borne their shame with those who go down to the pit.

They have made Elam a bed among the slain with all her multitude. Her graves are around her, all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword; for their terror was caused in the land of the living, and they have borne their shame with those who go down to the pit. He is put among those who are slain.

“There is Meshech, Tubal, and all their multitude. Their graves are around them, all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword; for they caused their terror in the land of the living.

They will not lie with the mighty who are fallen of the uncircumcised, who have gone down to Sheol with their weapons of war and have laid their swords under their heads. Their iniquities are on their bones; for they were the terror of the mighty in the land of the living.

“But you will be broken among the uncircumcised, and will lie with those who are slain by the sword.

“There is Edom, her kings, and all her princes, who in their might are laid with those who are slain by the sword. They will lie with the uncircumcised, and with those who go down to the pit.

“There are the princes of the north, all of them, and all the Sidonians, who have gone down with the slain. They are put to shame in the terror which they caused by their might. They lie uncircumcised with those who are slain by the sword, and bear their shame with those who go down to the pit.

“Pharaoh will see them and will be comforted over all his multitude, even Pharaoh and all his army, slain by the sword,” says the Lord GOD.

“For I have put his terror in the land of the living. He will be laid among the uncircumcised, with those who are slain by the sword, even Pharaoh and all his multitude,” says the Lord GOD.
