The Book of Psalms

A prayer of David. Listen, Yahweh, and answer me, for I am poor and oppressed.

Protect me, for I am loyal; my God, save your servant who trusts in you.

Be merciful to me, Lord, for I cry out to you all day long.

Make your servant glad, for to you, Lord, I pray.

You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and you show great mercy to all those who cry out to you.

Yahweh, listen to my prayer; hear the sound of my pleas.

In the day of my trouble I call on you, for you will answer me.

There is no one who compares to you among the gods, Lord. There are no deeds like your deeds.

All the nations that you have made will come and bow before you, Lord. They will honor your name.

For you are great and do wonderful things; you only are God.

Teach me your ways, Yahweh. Then I will walk in your truth. Unite my heart to reverence you.

Lord my God, I will praise you with my whole heart; I will glorify your name forever.

For great is your covenant faithfulness toward me; you have rescued my life from the depths of Sheol.

God, the arrogant have risen up against me. A gang of violent men seek my life. They have no regard for you.

But you, Lord, are a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in covenant faithfulness and trustworthiness.

Turn toward me and have mercy on me; give your strength to your servant; save the son of your servant woman.

Show me a sign of your favor. Then those who hate me will see it and be put to shame because you, Yahweh, have helped me and comforted me.

Ein Gebet Davids. Neige, o Herr! dein Ohr und erhöre mich, denn ich bin elend und arm.

Bewahre meine Seele, denn ich bin heilig; hilf du, mein Gott! deinem Knechte, der auf dich vertraut.

Erbarme dich meiner, o Herr! denn zu dir rufe ich immerfort.

Erfreue die Seele deines Dieners, denn zu dir, o Herr! erhebe ich meine Seele.

Denn du, o Herr! bist gütig und milde und erbarmungsreich für alle, die dich anrufen.

Vernimm, o Herr! mein Gebet und habe acht auf die Stimme meines Flehens!

Am Tage meiner Drangsal rufe ich zu dir, denn du erhörst mich.

Dir, Herr, ist keiner gleich unter den Mächtigen und nichts gleicht deinen Werken.

Alle Völker, die du geschaffen hast, werden kommen und dich anbeten, Herr! und deinen Namen verherrlichen.

Denn du bist groß und tust Wunder, du bist Gott allein.

Leite mich, Herr! auf deinem Wege, lass mich wandeln in deiner Wahrheit; es freue sich mein Herz, damit ich deinen Namen fürchte.

Ich will dich preisen, o Herr, mein Gott! von ganzem Herzen und will deinen Namen ewig verherrlichen.

Denn dein Erbarmen ist groß über mir und du rettest meine Seele aus der Unterwelt Tiefe.

O Gott! Frevler erheben sich wider mich und die Rotte der Gewaltigen trachtet mir nach dem Leben und haben dich nicht vor Augen.

Du aber, o Herr, bist ein barmherziger und gnädiger Gott, langmütig und reich an Erbarmung und wahrhaftig.

Schaue auf mich und erbarme dich meiner, leihe deinem Diener Kraft und hilf dem Sohne deiner Magd!

Tue an mir ein Zeichen zum Guten, dass es sehen, die mich hassen, und beschämt werden, weil du, Herr! mir beigestanden und mich getröstet hast.
