- Kapitel 8 -

(Leviticus 14:1–32; Mark 1:40–45; Luke 5:12–16)

When Jesus had come down from the hill, large crowds followed him.

Behold, a leper came to him and bowed before him, saying, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”

Jesus reached out his hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing. Be clean.” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy.

Jesus said to him, “See that you say nothing to any man. Go on your way, and show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.”

The Faith of the Centurion

(Luke 7:1–10; John 4:43–54)

When Jesus had entered into Capernaum, a centurion came to him and asked him,

saying, “Lord, my servant lies in the house paralyzed and in terrible pain.”

Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”

The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, only say the word and my servant will be healed.

For I also am a man who is placed under authority, and I have soldiers under me. I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another one, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those who were following him, “Truly I say to you, I have not found anyone with such faith in Israel.

I tell you, many will come from the east and the west, and they will recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

But the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.”

Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! As you have believed, so may it be done for you.” And the servant was healed at that very hour.

Jesus Heals at Peter’s House

(Mark 1:29–34; Luke 4:38–41)

When Jesus had come into Peter’s house, he saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying sick with a fever.

Jesus touched her hand, and the fever left her. Then she got up and started serving him.

When evening had come, the people brought to Jesus many who were controlled by demons. He drove out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick.

In this way was fulfilled that which had been spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, “He himself took our sickness and bore our diseases.”

The Cost of Discipleship

(Luke 9:57–62; Luke 14:25–33; John 6:59–66)

Now when Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave instructions to leave for the other side of the Sea of Galilee.

Then a scribe came to him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”

Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”

Another of the disciples said to him, “Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father.”

But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.”

Jesus Calms the Storm

(Psalm 107:1–43; Mark 4:35–41; Luke 8:22–25)

When Jesus had entered a boat, his disciples followed him into it.

Behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But Jesus was asleep.

The disciples came to him and woke him up, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are about to die!”

Jesus said to them, “Why are you afraid, you of little faith?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the sea. Then there was a great calm.

The men marveled and said, “What sort of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?”

The Demons and the Pigs

(Mark 5:1–20; Luke 8:26–39)

When Jesus had come to the other side and to the country of the Gadarenes, two men who were controlled by demons met him. They were coming out of the tombs and were very violent, so that no traveler could pass that way.

Behold, they cried out and said, “What do we have to do with you, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the set time?”

Now a herd of many pigs was there feeding, not too far away from them.

The demons kept imploring Jesus and saying, “If you cast us out, send us away into that herd of pigs.”

Jesus said to them, “Go!” The demons came out and went into the pigs; and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep hill into the sea and they died in the water.

Those who had been tending the pigs ran away and they went into the city and reported everything, especially what had happened to the men who had been controlled by demons.

Behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus. When they saw him, they begged him to leave their region.

Jesus reinigt einen Aussätzigen

(3. Mose 14,1-32; Markus 1,40-45; Lukas 5,12-16)

Als er aber vom Berge herabgestiegen war, folgte ihm eine große Menge Volkes nach.

Und siehe, ein Aussätziger kam, betete ihn an, und sprach: Herr! wenn du willst, so kannst du mich rein machen.

Und Jesus streckte die Hand aus, berührte ihn, und sprach: Ich will, werde rein! Und sogleich war er rein von seinem Aussatze.

Und Jesus sprach zu ihm: Siehe zu, dass du es niemanden sagest; sondern gehe hin, zeige dich dem Priester, und opfere die Gabe, welche Moses verordnet hat, ihnen zum Zeugnisse.

Jesus heilt den Knecht eines Zenturios

(Lukas 7,1-10; Johannes 4,43-54)

Als er aber in Kapharnaum einzog, trat ein Hauptmann zu ihm, bat ihn,

und sprach: Herr! mein Knecht liegt zu Hause gelähmt, und leidet große Qual.

Und Jesus sprach zu ihm: Ich will kommen, und ihn heilen.

Und der Hauptmann antwortete, und sprach: Herr! ich bin nicht würdig, dass du eingehst unter mein Dach, sondern sprich nur ein Wort, so wird mein Knecht geheilt sein.

Denn auch ich bin ein Mann, der Obrigkeit unterworfen, und habe Soldaten unter mir; und sage ich zu diesem: Geh! und er geht; und zu einem andern: Komm her! und er kommt; und zu meinem Knechte: Tu das! und er tut es.

Da nun Jesus das hörte, verwunderte er sich, und sprach zu denen, die ihm folgten: Wahrlich, ich sage euch, so großen Glauben habe ich nicht gefunden in Israel!

Ich sage euch aber, viele werden von Aufgang und Niedergang kommen, und mit Abraham, Isaak und Jakob im Himmelreiche zu Tische sitzen;

die Kinder des Reiches aber werden in die Finsternis draußen hinausgeworfen werden; dort wird Heulen und Zähneknirschen sein.

Und Jesus sprach zu dem Hauptmanne: Gehe hin, und wie du geglaubt hast, geschehe dir! Und der Knecht ward gesund zu derselben Stunde.

Die Schwiegermutter des Petrus wird geheilt

(Markus 1,29-34; Lukas 4,38-41)

Und als Jesus in das Haus des Petrus kam, fand er die Schwiegermutter desselben bettlägerig und fieberkrank.

Da berührte er ihre Hand, und das Fieber verließ sie; und sie stand auf, und bediente sie.

Viele Heilungen am Abend

Als es aber Abend geworden war, brachten sie viele Besessene zu ihm; und er trieb die Geister durch ein Wort aus, und heilte alle Kranken;

damit erfüllet werde, was durch den Propheten Isaias gesagt ist, der da spricht: Er hat unsere Gebrechen auf sich genommen, und unsere Krankheiten getragen.

Der Preis der Jüngerschaft

(Lukas 9,57-62; Lukas 14,25-33; Johannes 6,59-66)

Da aber Jesus große Schaaren um sich sah, befahl er, über den See zu fahren.

Und es traf ein Schriftgelehrter hinzu, und sprach zu ihm: Meister! ich will dir nachfolgen, wohin du immer gehst.

Jesus sprach zu ihm: Die Füchse haben Höhlen, und die Vögel des Himmels Nester; der Menschensohn aber hat nicht, wo er sein Haupt niederlege.

Ein anderer aber von seinen Jüngern sprach zu ihm: Herr! erlaube mir zuvor hinzugehen, und meinen Vater zu begraben.

Jesus aber sprach zu ihm: Folge mir, und laß die Toten ihre Toten begraben.

Wind und Wellen gehorchen Jesus

(Psalm 107,1-43; Markus 4,35-41; Lukas 8,22-25)

Und als er in das Schifflein stieg folgten ihm seine Jünger.

Und siehe ein großer Sturm erhob sich auf dem Meere; so dass das Schifflein von Wellen bedeckt ward; er aber schlief.

Da traten seine Jünger zu ihm, weckten ihn, und sprachen: Herr! rette uns, wir gehen zu Grunde.

Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Was seid ihr so furchtsam, Kleingläubige? Alsdann stand er auf, gebot den Winden und dem Meere, und es ward eine große Stille.

Die Leute aber staunten und sprachen: Wer ist wohl dieser, dass ihm die Winde und das Meer gehorchen?

Zwei von Dämonen besessene Männer geheilt

(Markus 5,1-20; Lukas 8,26-39)

Als sie nun über den See in das Gebiet der Gerasener gekommen waren, liefen ihm zwei Besessene entgegen, die aus den Grabhöhlen kamen und überaus wütend waren, so dass niemand dieses Weges gehen konnte,

Und siehe, sie schrieen und sprachen: was haben wir mit dir Jesus, du Sohn Gottes? Bist du hierher gekommen, um uns vor der Zeit zu quälen?

Es war aber nicht weit von ihnen eine Herde vieler Schweine auf der Weide.

Die bösen Geister aber baten ihn, und sprachen: Wenn du uns von hinnen austreibest, so lass uns in die Schweineherde fahren.

Er sprach zu ihnen: Gehet! Sie aber gingen aus, und fuhren in die Schweine, und siehe, die ganze Herde stürzte sich mit Ungestüm den Abhang hinab in das Meer, und kamen um im Wasser.

Die Hirten aber flohen, und als sie in die Stadt kamen, erzählten sie alles, auch was mit den Besessenen geschehen.

Und siehe, die ganze Stadt ging hinaus, Jesus entgegen; und da sie ihn sahen, baten sie ihn, dass er sich wegbegebe aus ihrem Gebiete.
