- Kapitel 12 -

The pious are no more

Yahweh, help us! It seems like people who honor you are no more, that those who are loyal to you have all vanished.

Everyone tells lies to other people; they deceive others by flattering them, but they tell lies.

Yahweh, we wish that you would cut off their tongues so that they cannot continue to boast.

They say, “By telling lies we will get what we want; we control what we say, so no one can tell us what we should do!”

But Yahweh replies, “I have seen the violent things that they have done to helpless people; I have heard those people groaning, so I will arise and rescue the people who are wanting me to help them.”

Yahweh, you always do what you have promised to do; what you have promised is as precious and pure as silver that has been heated seven times in a furnace to get rid of all the impure material.

Yahweh, we know that you will protect us who honor you from those wicked people,

those who strut around proudly, while people praise them for doing evil deeds.

Die Frommen sind nicht mehr

Zum Ende, für die Oktav, ein Psalm Davids.

Errette mich, Herr! denn die Frommen nehmen ab, denn die Treue ist geschwunden unter den Menschenkindern.

Sie reden Lüge, ein jeder zu seinem Nächsten; ihre Lippen sind voll Trug, sie reden mit doppeltem Herzen.

Möge der Herr alle trugvollen Lippen vertilgen, die großsprecherischen Zungen jener,

welche sagen: Lasset uns unserer Zunge Macht zeigen, unsere Lippen stehen uns bei, wer ist unser Herr?

Wegen des Elendes der Bedrängten und des Seufzens der Armen will ich mich nun erheben, spricht der Herr. Ich will Heil schaffen, mit ihm vertraulich handeln.

Des Herrn Worte sind lautere Worte, Silber, das im Feuer geläutert ist, im irdenen Tiegel erprobt, siebenfach gereinigt.

Du, Herr! Behütest uns und bewahrst uns vor diesem Geschlechte in Ewigkeit.

Ringsum wandeln die Gottlosen, doch hast du nach deinen tiefen Ratschlüssen die Menschenkinder zahlreich gemacht.
