Better is one day in your judgments

(John 1:14-18)
1
How amiable are thy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts!(a)
2
My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord : my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.
3
Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God.
4
Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah.
5
Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.
6
Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools.(b) (c)
7
They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.(d)
8
O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah.
9
Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed.
10
For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.(e)
11
For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
12
O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen, o Herr der Heerscharen!

Meine Seele sehnt sich und schmachtet nach den Vorhöfen des Herrn. Mein Herz und mein Leib jubeln dem lebendigen Gott zu.

Denn der Sperling findet für sich ein Haus und die Turteltaube ein Nest, in das sie ihre Jungen lege. Deine Altäre, Herr der Heerscharen, mein König und mein Gott!
5
Glückselig, die in deinem Hause wohnen, o Herr! allezeit loben sie dich.
6
Glückselig der Mann, der von dir seine Hilfe erwartet! er hat in seinem Herzen sich Wege gebahnt
7
im Tränentale hin zu dem Orte, den Gott gesetzt.
8
Denn Segen verleiht der Gesetzgeber, man geht von Kraft zu Kraft; auf Sion wird der höchste Gott geschaut.
9
O Herr, Gott der Heerscharen! Höre auf mein Gebet; vernimm es, Gott Jakobs!
10
O blicke herab, Gott, unser Beschirmer! und schaue auf das Angesicht deines Gesalbten,
11
denn besser ist ein Tag in deinen Vorhöfen als sonst tausend. Lieber will ich der Geringste im Hause meines Gottes sein als in den Hütten der Sünder wohnen.
12
Denn Gott liebt Erbarmen und Wahrhaftigkeit, Gnade und Herrlichkeit verleiht der Herr.
13
Nicht versagt er Gutes denen, die unsträflich wandeln; Herr, der Heerscharen! glückselig ist der Mensch, der auf dich vertraut!
