- Kapitel 10 -

The dangers of the pilgrim

Why standest thou afar off, O Lord ? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?

The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.(a)

For the wicked boasteth of his heart’s desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth.(b)

The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.(d)

His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.

He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.(e)

His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.(f)

He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.(h)

He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.(i)

He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.(j)

He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.

Arise, O Lord ; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble.(l)

Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it.

Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.(m)

Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none.

The Lord is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land.

Lord , thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:(n)

To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.(o)

Die Gefahren des Pilgers

Warum, o Herr! hast du dich zurückgezogen in die Ferne, siehest nicht her, da es doch Zeit ist, in der Drangsal?

Da der Gottlose Übermut treibt, wird der Arme gequält, aber jene werden gefangen in den Anschlägen, die sie ersinnen.

Denn der Sünder rühmt sich ob der Gelüste seiner Seele und der Frevler segnet sich.

Der Sünder erbittert den Herrn und wegen seines großen Zornes fragt er nichts nach ihm.

Gott steht ihm nicht vor Augen, seine Wege sind befleckt zu jeder Zeit. Deine Gerichte sind seinem Volke entrückt, alle seine Feinde knechtet er.

Denn er spricht in seinem Herzen: Nicht werde ich je wanken, ich bleibe vor Unglück bewahrt von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht.

Von Lästerung ist sein Mund voll, von Kränkung und Trug, unter seiner Zunge ist Mühsal und Schmerz.

Er liegt im Hinterhalt mit den Reichen im Verborgenen, um den Unschuldigen zu morden.

Seine Augen spähen auf den Armen, er liegt im Verborgenen auf der Lauer, wie ein Löwe in seiner Höhle. Er liegt auf der Lauer, um den Armen zu erhaschen, zu erhaschen den Armen, indem er ihn zu sich zieht.

In seiner Schlinge wirft er ihn zu Boden, er bückt sich und stürzt auf ihn, wenn er der Armen Herr geworden.

Denn er spricht in seinem Herzen: Gott vergißt es, er wendet sein Angesicht ab, zu schauen nimmermehr.

Stehe auf, o Herr, Gott! es erhebe sich deine Hand, vergiss nicht der Mühseligen.

Warum erbittert der Gottlose Gott? denn er spricht in seinem Herzen: Er ahndet es nicht!

Du siehst es, denn du achtest auf Mühsal und Schmerz, um sie in deine Hand zu nehmen. Dir ist der Arme anheim gegeben, der Waise bist du Helfer.

Zerbrich den Arm des Sünders und des Bösen, dass man seine Sünde suche und sie nimmer finde.

Der Herr ist König immer und in alle Ewigkeit, ihr Heiden werdet aus seinem Lande vertilgt.

Das Verlangen der Armen erhört der Herr, ihres Herzens Begehren hört dein Ohr,

so dass du der Waise und dem Niedrigen Recht schaffst, damit hierfür niemand mehr vermessen großtue auf Erden.
