(Matthew 13:10–17; Mark 4:10–12; Acts 28:16–31)

In the year that king Ozias died, I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne high and elevated: and his train filled the temple.

Upon it stood the seraphims: the one had six wings, and the other had six wings: with two they covered his face, and with two they covered his feet, and with two they hew.

And they cried one to another, and said: Holy, holy, holy, the Lord God of hosts, all the earth is full of his glory.

And the lintels of the doors were moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

And I said: Woe is me, because I have held my peace; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people that hath unclean lips, and I have seen with my eyes the King the Lord of hosts.

And one of the seraphims flew to me, and in his hand was a live coal, which he had taken with the tongs off the altar.

And he touched my mouth, and said: Behold this hath touched thy lips, and thy iniquities shall be taken away, and thy sin shall be cleansed.

And I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: Whom shall I send? and who shall go for us? And I said: Lo, here am I, send me.

And he said: Go, and thou shalt say to this people: Hearing, hear, and understand not: and see the vision, and know it not.

Blind the heart of this people, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes: lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted and I heal them.

And I said: How long, O Lord? And he said: Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land shall be left desolate.

And the Lord shall remove men far away, and she shall be multiplied that was left in the midst of the earth.

And there shall be still a tithing therein, and she shall turn, and shall be made a show as a turpentine tree, and as an oak that spreadeth its branches: that which shall stand therein, shall be a holy seed.

Jesaja wird zum Propheten berufen

(Matthäus 13,10-17; Markus 4,10-12; Apostelgeschichte 28,16-31)

Im Jahre, in dem der König Ozias starb, sah ich den Herrn auf einem hohen und erhabenen Throne sitzen und das, was unter ihm war, erfüllte den Tempel.

Seraphim standen oberhalb desselben; sechs Flügel hatte ein jeder; mit zweien verhüllten sie ihr Angesicht, mit zweien verhüllten sie ihre Füße und mit zweien flogen sie.

Und sie riefen einer dem andern zu und sprachen: Heilig, heilig, heilig ist der Herr, der Gott der Heerscharen; die ganze Erde ist voll seiner Herrlichkeit!

Da erbebten die Oberschwellen der Türangeln vor ihrem lauten Rufen und der Tempel ward von Rauch erfüllt.

Da sprach ich: Wehe mir, dass ich geschwiegen habe; denn ich bin ein Mann unrein von Lippen und wohne inmitten eines Volkes, das unreine Lippen hat, und ich habe den König, den Herrn der Heerscharen, mit meinen Augen geschaut!

Da flog einer von den Seraphim zu mir, einen glühenden Stein in seiner Hand, den er mit der Zange vom Altare genommen hatte.

Und er berührte meinen Mund und sprach: Siehe, dies hat deine Lippen berührt, so wird deine Ungerechtigkeit hinweggenommen und deine Sünde gesühnt.

Und ich hörte die Stimme des Herrn, welcher sprach: Wen soll ich senden? und wer wird für uns gehen? Da sprach ich: Siehe, hier bin ich, sende mich!

Er sprach: Gehe hin und sage diesem Volke: Höret immerfort und verstehet nicht! Sehet immerfort und erkennet nicht!

Verblende das Herz dieses Volkes, verhärte seine Ohren und schließ ihm die Augen, dass es nicht etwa mit seinen Augen sehe und mit seinen Ohren höre und mit seinem Herzen verstehe und sich bekehre, und ich es heile.

Da sprach ich: Bis wann, Herr? Er entgegnete: Bis die Städte verödet sind ohne Bewohner und die Häuser ohne Menschen und das Land verödet und verlassen.

Und der Herr wird die Menschen wegführen in die Ferne und groß wird die Verlassenheit sein inmitten des Landes.

Und ist daselbst noch ein Zehnteil, so wird es wiederkehren und zur Schau sein wie eine Terebinthe und wie eine Eiche, die ihre Äste ausbreitet; ein heiliger Same wird sein, was daselbst übrigbleibt.
