- Kapitel 23 -

“You shall not spread a false report. Do not join the wicked by being a malicious witness.

You shall not follow the crowd in wrongdoing. When you testify in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd.

And do not show favoritism to a poor man in his lawsuit.

If you encounter your enemy’s stray ox or donkey, you must return it to him.

If you see the donkey of one who hates you fallen under its load, do not leave it there; you must help him with it.

You shall not deny justice to the poor in their lawsuits.

Stay far away from a false accusation. Do not kill the innocent or the just, for I will not acquit the guilty.

Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds those who see and twists the words of the righteous.

Do not oppress a foreign resident, since you yourselves know how it feels to be foreigners; for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt.

Sabbath Laws

(Leviticus 25:1–7; Deuteronomy 15:1–6)

For six years you are to sow your land and gather its produce,

but in the seventh year you must let it rest and lie fallow, so that the poor among your people may eat from the field and the wild animals may consume what they leave. Do the same with your vineyard and olive grove.

For six days you are to do your work, but on the seventh day you must cease, so that your ox and your donkey may rest and the son of your maidservant may be refreshed, as well as the foreign resident.

Pay close attention to everything I have said to you. You must not invoke the names of other gods; they must not be heard on your lips.

The Three Feasts of Pilgrimage

(Leviticus 23:1–3)

Three times a year you are to celebrate a feast to Me.

You are to keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread

(a)

as I commanded you: At the appointed time in the month of Abib (b) you are to eat unleavened bread for seven days, because that was the month you came out of Egypt. No one may appear before Me empty-handed.

You are also to keep the Feast of Harvest

(c)

with the firstfruits of the produce from what you sow in the field. And keep the Feast of Ingathering (d) at the end of the year, when you gather your produce from the field.

Three times a year all your males are to appear before the Lord GOD.

You must not offer the blood of My sacrifices with anything leavened, nor may the fat of My feast remain until morning.

Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house of the LORD your God. You must not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.

God’s Angel to Lead

(Deuteronomy 7:12–26)

Behold, I am sending an angel before you to protect you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.

Pay attention to him and listen to his voice; do not defy him, for he will not forgive rebellion, since My Name is in him.

But if you will listen carefully to his voice and do everything I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and a foe to your foes.

For My angel will go before you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites, and Jebusites, and I will annihilate them.

You must not bow down to their gods or serve them or follow their practices. Instead, you are to demolish them and smash their sacred stones to pieces.

So you shall serve the LORD your God, and He will bless

your bread and your water. And I will take away sickness from among you.

No woman in your land will miscarry or be barren; I will fulfill the number of your days.

I will send My terror ahead of you and throw into confusion every nation you encounter. I will make all your enemies turn and run.

I will send the hornet before you to drive the Hivites and Canaanites and Hittites out of your way.

I will not drive them out before you in a single year; otherwise the land would become desolate and wild animals would multiply against you.

Little by little I will drive them out ahead of you, until you become fruitful and possess the land.

And I will establish your borders from the Red Sea

to the Sea of the Philistines, and from the desert to the Euphrates.(g) For I will deliver the inhabitants into your hand, and you will drive them out before you.

You shall make no covenant with them or with their gods.

They must not remain in your land, lest they cause you to sin against Me. For if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you.”

Gerechtigkeit für alle

Du sollst keine Lügenreden annehmen, noch deine Hand bieten, um für den Gottlosen falsches Zeugnis abzulegen.

Du sollst dem großen Haufen nicht folgen, um Böses zu tun, noch im Gerichte dem Urteile der Meisten beistimmen, so dass du von der Wahrheit abweichst.

Auch sollst du den Armen nicht im Gerichte begünstigen.

Wenn du einen deinem Feinde gehörigen Ochsen oder Esel herumirrend findest, so bringe ihm denselben zurück.

Wenn du den Esel dessen, der dich hasst, unter seiner Last erliegen siehst, so sollst du nicht vorübergehen, sondern ihm beistehen, den Esel aufzuhelfen.

Du sollst das Recht des Armen in seiner Sache nicht beugen.

Die Lüge sollst du fliehen. Den Unschuldigen und den, der Recht hat, sollst du nicht töten; denn ich verabscheue den Gottlosen.

Du sollst nicht Geschenke annehmen, denn sie verblenden auch die Weisen und verkehren die Worte der Gerechten.

Einem Fremdlinge sollst du nicht lästig sein; denn ihr wisst ja, wie es den Fremdlingen um´s Herz ist, da ihr selbst Fremdlinge im Lande Ägypten gewesen seid.

Das Gesetz der Sabbate

(3. Mose 25,1-7; 5. Mose 15,1-6)

Sechs Jahre sollst du dein Land besäen und seinen Ertrag einsammeln.

Im siebenten Jahre aber sollst du es unbenutzt liegen und ruhen lassen, damit die Armen deines Volkes darauf ihre Nahrung finden; und alles, was noch übrig sein wird, mögen die Tiere des Feldes verzehren; ebenso sollst du mit deinem Weinberge und mit deinem Ölgarten tun.

Sechs Tage sollst du arbeiten; am siebenten Tage sollst du ruhen, damit dein Rind und dein Esel ausruhe, und der Sohn deiner Magd und der Fremdling sich erhole.

Haltet alles, was ich euch gesagt habe. Bei dem Namen fremder Götter sollt ihr nicht schwören, ja er soll nicht einmal aus eurem Munde gehört werden.

Drei jährliche Feste

(3. Mose 23,1-3)

Dreimal im Jahre sollt ihr mir Feste feiern.

Das Fest der ungesäuerten Brote sollst du halten. Sieben Tage sollst du ungesäuertes Brot essen, wie ich dir geboten habe, zur Zeit des Monats der neuen Früchte, da du ihm aus Ägypten gezogen bist; vor meinem Angesichte sollst du nicht mit leeren Händen erscheinen.

Denn das Erntefest der Erstlinge deiner Arbeit von allem, was du auf deinem Acker ausgesät; endlich das Fest am Ende des Jahres, wenn du alle deine Früchte von dem Felde eingesammelt hast.

Dreimal im Jahre soll jeder Mann aus deiner Mitte vor dem Herrn, deinem Gott, erscheinen.

Du sollst das Blut meines Opfers nicht mit gesäuerten Broten opfern; auch soll das Fett meines Fettopfers nicht bis zum Morgen aufbewahrt werden.

Die Erstlinge der Früchte deines Bodens sollst du in das Haus des Herrn, deines Gottes, bringen. Ein Böckchen sollst du nicht in der Milch seiner Mutter kochen.

Der Engel und die Verheißungen

(5. Mose 7,12-26)

Siehe, ich werde meinen Engel senden, dass er vor dir herziehe, und dich bewahre auf dem Wege, und dich an die Stätte führe, welche ich bereitet habe.

Habe Acht auf ihn, und höre seine Stimme, und glaube nicht, ihn verachten zu dürfen; denn wenn du sündigst, wird er es nicht ungeahndet lassen, und mein Name ist in ihm.

Wenn du aber auf seine Stimme hörst und alles tust, was ich sage, so werde ich der Feind deiner Feinde sein, und die bedrängen, welche dich bedrängen.

Und mein Engel wir vor dir hergehen und dich zu den Amorrhitern, Hethitern, Pherezitern, Chananitern, Hevitern und Jebusitern führen, die ich vernichten will.

Du sollst ihre Götter nicht anbeten, noch ihnen dienen; du sollst ihre Werke nicht tun, sondern sie vernichten und ihre Bildsäulen zertrümmern.

Ihr sollt vielmehr dem Herrn, eurem Gott, dienen, dass ich dein Brot und dein Wasser segne und Krankheiten aus deiner Mitte entferne.

Kein Weib wird in deinem Lande kinderlos oder unfruchtbar sein, und mit frühzeitigem Tode werde ich dich nicht heimsuchen.

Meinen Schrecken werde ich vor dir hersenden und jedes Volk töten, zu dem du kommen wirst; und alle deine Feinde werde ich vor dir in die Flucht treiben;

indem ich Hornissen vor dir aussende, dass sie die Heviter, die Chananiter und die Hethiter vertreiben, bevor du einziehst.

Nicht in einem Jahre werde ich sie vor dir vertreiben, damit das Land nicht zur Wüste werde und die wilden Tiere nicht dir zum Schaden überhandnehmen;

allmählich werde ich sie vor dir vertreiben, bis du zahlreich geworden bist und das Land in Besitz genommen hast.

Dein Gebiet aber will ich reichen lassen vom roten Meere bis zum Meere der Palästiner, und von der Wüste bis zum Strome; die Einwohner des Landes will ich in eure Hände geben und sie vor euch vertreiben.

Weder mit ihnen, noch mit ihren Göttern sollst du ein Bündnis schließen.

Sie sollen nicht in deinem Lande wohnen bleiben, damit sie dich nicht zur Sünde wider mich verführen, wenn du ihren Göttern dienst; denn das wird dir sicher zum Fallstricke werden.
