- Kapitel 15 -

(2 Samuel 6:12–15)

David constructed buildings for himself in the City of David, and he prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it.

Then David said, “No one but the Levites may carry the ark of God, because the LORD has chosen them to carry the ark of the LORD and to minister before Him forever.”

And David assembled all Israel in Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the LORD to the place he had prepared for it.

Then he gathered together the descendants of Aaron and the Levites:

From the Kohathites, Uriel the chief and 120 of his relatives;

from the Merarites, Asaiah the chief and 220 of his relatives;

from the Gershomites,(a) Joel the chief and 130 of his relatives;

from the Elizaphanites, Shemaiah the chief and 200 of his relatives;

from the Hebronites, Eliel the chief and 80 of his relatives;

and from the Uzzielites, Amminadab the chief and 112 of his relatives.

David summoned the priests Zadok and Abiathar and the Levites Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab.

And he said to them, “You are the heads of the Levitical families. You and your relatives must consecrate yourselves so that you may bring the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel, to the place I have prepared for it.

It was because you Levites were not with us the first time that the LORD our God burst forth in anger against us. For we did not consult Him about the proper order.”

The Priests and Levites Carry the Ark

So the priests and Levites consecrated themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel.

And the Levites carried the ark of God on their shoulders with the poles, as Moses had commanded in accordance with the word of the LORD.

David also told the leaders of the Levites to appoint their relatives as singers to lift up their voices with joy, accompanied by musical instruments—harps, lyres, and cymbals.

So the Levites appointed Heman son of Joel; from his brothers, Asaph son of Berechiah; from their brothers the Merarites, Ethan son of Kushaiah;

and with them their brothers next in rank: Zechariah, (b) Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, and the gatekeepers Obed-edom and Jeiel.(c)

The musicians Heman, Asaph, and Ethan were to sound the bronze cymbals.

Zechariah, Aziel,(d) Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah were to play the harps according to Alamoth.(e)

And Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah were to lead the music with lyres according to Sheminith.(f)

Chenaniah the head Levite was the director of the music because he was highly skilled.

Berechiah and Elkanah were to be guardians (g) of the ark.

Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer—the priests—were to blow the trumpets before the ark of God. Obed-edom and Jehiah were also to be guardians of the ark.

Moving the Ark to Jerusalem

So David, the elders of Israel, and the commanders of thousands went with rejoicing to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the house of Obed-edom.

And because God helped the Levites who were carrying the ark of the covenant of the LORD, they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams.

Now David was dressed in a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who were carrying the ark, as well as the singers and Chenaniah, the director of music for the singers. David also wore a linen ephod.

So all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, with the sounding of rams’ horns and trumpets, and with cymbals and the music of harps and lyres.

Michal’s Contempt for David

(2 Samuel 6:16)

As the ark of the covenant of the LORD was entering the City of David, Saul’s daughter Michal looked down from a window and saw King David dancing and celebrating, and she despised him in her heart.

Die Lade wird nach Jerusalem gebracht

(2. Samuel 6,12-15)

Und David baute sich Häuser in der Davidsstadt und bereitete eine Stätte für die Lade Gottes und spannte ein Zelt für dieselbe auf.

Darnach sprach er: Es ist nicht erlaubt, dass jemand die Lade Gottes trage, außer den Leviten, welche der Herr auserwählt hat, sie zu tragen und ihm auf ewiglich zu dienen.

Und er berief ganz Israel nach Jerusalem, um die Lade Gottes an den Ort zu bringen, den er für dieselbe vorbereitet hatte,

sowie auch die Söhne Aarons und die Leviten.

Von den Söhnen Kaaths: Uriel, der ihr Oberhaupt war, und dessen Brüder, hundert und zwanzig.

Von den Söhnen Meraris: Asaja, das Oberhaupt, und dessen Brüder, zweihundertundzwanzig.

Von den Söhnen Gersoms: Joel, das Oberhaupt, und dessen Brüder, hundertunddreißig.

Von den Söhnen Elisaphans: Semejas, das Oberhaupt, und seine Brüder, zweihundert.

Von den Söhnen Hebrons: Eliel, das Oberhaupt, und seine Brüder, achtzig.

Von den Söhnen Oziels: Aminadab, das Oberhaupt, und dessen Brüder, hundertundzwölf.

Und David ließ Sadok und Abiathar, die Priester, rufen und die Leviten Uriel, Asajas, Joel, Semejas, Eliel und Aminadab,

und sprach zu ihnen: Ihr, die ihr die Häupter der Familien der Leviten seid, heiliget euch samt euren Brüdern und bringet die Lade des Herrn, des Gottes Israels, an den Ort, der für dieselbe vorbereitet ist;

damit nicht, wie das erste Mal, wo ihr nicht da waret und der Herr uns schlug, jetzt das Gleiche geschehe, wenn wir etwas Unerlaubtes täten.

Da heiligten sich die Priester und Leviten, um die Lade des Herrn, des Gottes Israels, zu tragen.

Und die Söhne Levis trugen die Lade Gottes, wie Moses nach dem Worte des Herrn geboten hatte, auf ihren Schultern an den Tragstangen.

Und David befahl den Häuptern der Leviten, unter ihren Brüdern Sänger aufzustellen, mit Musikinstrumenten, nämlich mit Harfen, Zithern und Zimbeln, damit der Klang der Freude laut ertönte.

Diese stellten die Leviten: Hemam, den Sohn Joels, und von seinen Brüdern Asaph, den Sohn Barachias auf; von den Söhnen Meraris aber, deren Brüdern, Ethan, den Sohn Kasajas.

Und mit ihnen ihre Brüder in der zweiten Ordnung: Zacharias, Ben, Jaziel, Semiramoth, Jahiel, Ani, Eliab, Banajas, Maasias, Mathathias, Eliphalu, Makenias, Obededom und Jehiel, die Türhüter.

Ebenso die Sänger Heman, Asaph und Ethan, auf dem ehernen Zimbeln laut spielend.

Zacharias aber, Oziel, Semiramoth, Jahiel, Ani, Eliab, Maasias und Banajas besangen mit Harfen die Geheimnisse.

Und Mathathias, Eliphalu, Makenias, Obededom, Jehiel und Ozazin spielten auf Zithern von acht Saiten ein Siegeslied.

Chonenias aber, der als Oberhaupt der Leviten über die heilige Sangweise gesetzt war, hatte die Melodie anzugeben; denn er war sehr kundig.

Barachias und Elkana waren Türhüter bei der Lade.

Und Sebenias, Josaphat, Nathanael, Amasai, Zacharias, Banajas und Eliezer, die Priester, bliesen mit den Trompeten vor der Lade Gottes; Obededom und Jehias waren Türhüter bei der Lade.

Da gingen David und alle Ältesten Israels und die Obersten hin, um die Lade des Bundes des Herrn aus dem Hause Obededoms mit Freuden hinaufzuholen.

Und da Gott den Leviten, welche die Lade des Bundes des Herrn trugen, beigestanden hatte, opferte man sieben Stiere und sieben Widder.

David aber war mit einem Oberkleide von Byssus angetan, ebenso alle Leviten, welche die Lade trugen, und die Sänger und Chonenias, der Oberführer der heiligen Sangweise unter den Sängern; David aber war gleichfalls mit einem linnenen Ephod angetan.

Und ganz Israel geleitete die Lade des Bundes des Herrn mit Jubel und Posaunenschall und mit Trompeten und Zimbeln und laut auf Harfen und Zithern spielend.

(2. Samuel 6,16)

Als nun die Lade des Bundes des Herrn bis zur Davidsstadt kam, schaute Michol, die Tochter Sauls, durch das Fenster und sah den König David tanzen und spielen und verachtete ihn in ihrem Herzen.
