- Kapitel 26 -

(Leviticus 27:30–34; Deuteronomy 14:22–29; Nehemiah 13:10–14)

“And it has been, when you come into the land which your God YHWH is giving to you [for] an inheritance, and you have possessed it and dwelt in it,

that you have taken from the first of all the fruits of the ground, which you bring in out of your land which your God YHWH is giving to you, and have put [it] in a basket, and gone to the place which your God YHWH chooses to cause His Name to dwell there.

And you have come to the priest who is in those days, and have said to him, I have declared to your God YHWH today that I have come into the land which YHWH has sworn to our fathers to give to us;

and the priest has taken the basket out of your hand and placed it before the altar of your God YHWH.

And you have answered and said before your God YHWH, My father [is] a perishing Aramean! And he goes down to Egypt, and sojourns there with few men, and becomes a great, mighty, and populous nation there;

and the Egyptians do us evil, and afflict us, and put hard service on us;

and we cry to YHWH, God of our fathers, and YHWH hears our voice, and sees our affliction, and our labor, and our oppression;

and YHWH brings us out from Egypt by a strong hand, and by an outstretched arm, and by great fear, and by signs, and by wonders,

and He brings us to this place, and gives this land to us—a land flowing with milk and honey.

And now, behold, I have brought in the first of the fruits of the ground which you have given to me, O YHWH. (And you have placed it before your God YHWH, and bowed yourself before your God YHWH,

and rejoiced in all the good which your God YHWH has given to you and to your house—you, and the Levite, and the sojourner who [is] in your midst.)

When you complete to tithe all the tithe of your increase in the third year, the year of the tithe, then you have given to the Levite, to the sojourner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, and they have eaten within your gates and been satisfied,

and you have said before your God YHWH, I have put away the separated thing out of the house, and have also given it to the Levite, and to the sojourner, and to the orphan, and to the widow, according to all Your command which You have commanded me; I have not passed over from Your commands, nor have I forgotten.

I have not eaten of it in my affliction, nor have I put away of it for uncleanness, nor have I given of it for the dead; I have listened to the voice of my God YHWH; I have done according to all that You have commanded me;

look from Your holy habitation, from the heavens, and bless Your people Israel and the ground which You have given to us, as You have sworn to our fathers—a land flowing [with] milk and honey.

Obey the LORD’s Commands

This day your God YHWH is commanding you to do these statutes and judgments; and you have listened and done them with all your heart and with all your soul.

Today you have proclaimed YHWH to be to you for God, that [you are] to walk in His ways, and to keep His statutes, and His commands, and His judgments, and to listen to His voice.

And today YHWH has proclaimed you to be to Him for a people, a peculiar treasure, as He has spoken to you, that [you are] to keep all His commands,

so as to make you highest above all the nations whom He has made for a praise, and for a name, and for beauty, and for your being a holy people to your God YHWH, as He has spoken.”

Erstlingsopfer und Zehntabgabe

(3. Mose 27,30-34; 5. Mose 14,22-29; Nehemia 13,10-14)

Wenn du in das Land gekommen bist, das der Herr, dein Gott, dir zum Besitze geben wird, und du es eingenommen hast und darin wohnest,

so sollst du von allen deinen Früchten die Erstlinge nehmen, und in einen Korb legen, und dich damit an den Ort begeben, den der Herr, dein Gott, erwählen wird, um seinen Namen dort anrufen zu lassen;

und sollst vor den Priester treten, der zu jener Zeit sein wird, und zu ihm sprechen: Ich bekenne heute vor dem Herrn, deinem Gott, dass ich in das Land gekommen bin, welches er unsern Vätern geschworen hat, uns zu geben.

Alsdann soll der Priester den Korb aus deiner Hand nehmen und ihn vor den Altar des Herrn, deines Gottes, stellen,

und du sollst vor dem Herrn, deinem Gotte, sprechen: Der Syrer verfolgte meinen Vater, und dieser zog nach Ägypten hinab und weilte daselbst in sehr geringer Zahl als Fremdling; aber er wuchs heran zu einem großen und starken Volke ohne Zahl.

Da bedrückten und verfolgten uns die Ägypter und legten uns schwere Lasten auf,

und wir schrieen zum Herrn, dem Gott unserer Väter; und er erhörte uns, und sah auf unsere Erniedrigung, und Mühsal, und auf unsere Bedrängnis,

und führte uns aus Ägypten heraus mit starker Hand, und mit ausgestrecktem Arme, mit gewaltigem Schrecken, unter Zeichen und Wundern

und führte uns an diese Stätte, und gab uns das Land, welches von Milch und Honig fließt.

Und darum bringe ich nun die Erstlinge der Früchte des Landes dar, welches der Herr mir gegeben hat. Lasse sie alsdann vor dem Angesichte des Herrn deines Gottes und bete den Herrn, deinen Gott, an.

Und du sollst ein Freudenmahl halten bei all dem Guten, das der Herr, dein Gott, dir und deiner Familie gegeben, du und der Levit, und der Fremdling, der sich bei dir aufhält.

Wenn du den Zehnten von allen deinen Früchten entrichtet hast, sollst du im dritten Zehntenjahre dem Leviten, dem Fremdling, der Waise und der Witwe geben, dass sie innerhalb deiner Tore essen und sich sättigen;

und sollst vor dem Herrn, deinem Gott, sprechen: Ich habe das Geweihte aus meinem Hause genommen und habe es dem Leviten, dem Fremdling, der Waise und der Witwe gegeben, wie du mir geboten hast; ich habe deine Gebote nicht übertreten, noch deines Befehles vergessen.

Ich habe nichts davon gegessen, als ich in Trauer war, und habe es nicht fortgeschafft, als ich mich im Stande der Unreinheit befand, und nichts davon zu Leichenschmausen verwendet. Ich bin der Stimme des Herrn, meines Gottes, gehorsam gewesen und habe alles getan, was du mir geboten hast.

Blicke hernieder von deinem Heiligtum und der erhabenen Himmelswohnung, und segne dein Volk Israel und das Land, das du uns gegeben hast, wie du unsern Vätern geschworen, das Land, das von Milch und Honig fließt.

Ein besonderes Volk Gottes

Heute hat dir der Herr, dein Gott, geboten, diese Gebote und Rechte zu beobachten; so halte sie und erfülle sie aus ganzem Herzen und aus ganzer Seele.

Heute hast du den Herrn erwählt, dass er dein Gott sei, und dass du seine Wege wandelst, und seine Vorschriften, Gebote und Rechte haltest, und seinen Befehlen gehorchest.

Und der Herr hat dich heute erwählt, dass du ein ihm gehöriges Volk seiest, wie er zu dir geredet hat, und alle seine Gebote haltest;

und dass er dich erhaben mache über alle Völker, die er zu seinem Lobe und Ruhme und Preise geschaffen hat; dass du ein heiliges Volk des Herrn, deines Gottes, seiest, wie er gesprochen hat.
