- Kapitel 9 -

And all [those of] Israel have reckoned themselves by genealogy, and behold, they are written on the scroll of the kings of Israel and Judah—they were removed to Babylon for their trespass.

And the first inhabitants, who [are] in their possession, in their cities, of Israel, [are] the priests, the Levites, and the Nethinim.

And those who dwelt in Jerusalem of the sons of Judah, and of the sons of Benjamin, and of the sons of Ephraim and Manasseh:

Uthai son of Ammihud, son of Omri, son of Imri, son of Bani, of the sons of Perez, son of Judah.

And of the Shilonite: Asaiah the firstborn, and his sons.

And of the sons of Zerah: Jeuel, and their brothers—six hundred and ninety.

And of the sons of Benjamin: Sallu son of Meshullam, son of Hodaviah, son of Hassenuah,

and Ibneiah son of Jeroham, and Elah son of Uzzi, son of Michri, and Meshullam son of Shephatiah, son of Reuel, son of Ibnijah.

And their brothers, according to their generations, [are] nine hundred and fifty-six. All these [are] men, heads of fathers, according to the house of their fathers.

And of the priests: Jedaiah, and Jehoiarib, and Jachin,

and Azariah son of Hilkiah, son of Meshullam, son of Zadok, son of Meraioth, son of Ahitub, leader in the house of God;

and Adaiah son of Jeroham, son of Pashhur, son of Malchijah, and Maasai son of Adiel, son of Jahzerah, son of Meshullam, son of Meshillemith, son of Immer.

And their brothers, heads of the house of their fathers, [are] one thousand and seven hundred and sixty, mighty in valor, for the work of the service of the house of God.

And of the Levites: Shemaiah son of Hashshub, son of Azrikam, son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari;

and Bakbakkar, Heresh, and Galal, and Mattaniah son of Micah, son of Zichri, son of Asaph;

and Obadiah son of Shemariah, son of Galal, son of Jeduthun, and Berechiah, son of Asa, son of Elkanah, who is dwelling in the villages of the Netophathite.

And the gatekeepers [are] Shallum, and Akkub, and Talmon, and Ahiman, and their brothers—Shallum [is] the head;

and until now they [are] at the gate of the king eastward; they [are] the gatekeepers for the companies of the sons of Levi.

And Shallum son of Kore, son of Ebiasaph, son of Korah, and his brothers, of the house of his father, the Korahites, [are] over the work of the service, keepers of the thresholds of the tent, and their fathers [are] over the camp of YHWH, keepers of the entrance;

and Phinehas son of Eleazar has been leader over them formerly; YHWH [is] with him.

Zechariah son of Meshelemiah [is] gatekeeper at the opening of the Tent of Meeting.

All of those who are chosen for gatekeepers at the thresholds [are] two hundred and twelve; they [are] in their villages, by their genealogy; they whom David and Samuel the seer appointed in their office.

And they and their sons [are] over the gates of the house of YHWH, even of the house of the tent, by watches.

The gatekeepers are at [the] four sides: east, west, north, and south.

And their brothers in their villages [are] to come in with these for seven days from time to time.

For the four chiefs of the gatekeepers in office, they are Levites, and they have been over the chambers, and over the treasuries of the house of God,

and they lodge around the house of God, for the watch [is] on them, and they [are] over the opening, even morning by morning.

And [some] of them [are] over the vessels of service, for they bring them in by number, and by number they take them out.

And [some] of them are appointed over the vessels, even over all the vessels of the holy place, and over the fine flour, and the wine, and the oil, and the frankincense, and the spices.

And [some] of the sons of the priests are mixing the mixture for spices.

And Mattithiah of the Levites (he [is] the firstborn to Shallum the Korahite), [is] in office over the work of the pans.

And of the sons of the Kohathite, [some] of their brothers [are] over the bread of the arrangement, to prepare [it] Sabbath by Sabbath.

And these who sing, heads of fathers of the Levites, in the chambers, [are] free, for [they are] over them in the work by day and by night.

These heads of the fathers of the Levites [are] heads throughout their generations. These have dwelt in Jerusalem.

The Descendants of Saul

And the father of Gibeon, Jehiel, has dwelt in Gibeon, and the name of his wife [is] Maachah;

and his son, the firstborn, [is] Abdon, and Zur, and Kish, and Ba‘al, and Ner, and Nadab,

and Gedor, and Ahio, and Zechariah, and Mikloth.

And Mikloth begot Shimeam, and they have also dwelt opposite their brothers—with their brothers in Jerusalem.

And Ner begot Kish, and Kish begot Saul, and Saul begot Jonathan, and Malchi-Shua, and Abinadab, and Esh-Ba‘al.

And a son of Jonathan [is] Merib-Ba‘al, and Merib-Ba‘al begot Micah.

And sons of Micah: Pithon, and Melech, and Tahrea,

and Ahaz—he begot Jaarah, and Jaarah begot Alemeth, and Azmaveth, and Zimri, and Zimri begot Moza,

and Moza begot Binea, and Rephaiah his son, Eleasah his son, Azel his son.

And to Azel [are] six sons, and these [are] their names: Azrikam, Bocheru, and Ishmael, and Sheariah, and Obadiah, and Hanan; these [are] sons of Azel.

So wurde ganz Israel gezählt und ihre Zahl ward in das Buch der Könige von Israel und Juda eingeschrieben und sie wurden nach Babylon weggeführt um ihrer Vergehungen willen.

Die aber, welche zuerst in ihrem Besitze und in ihren Städten wohnten, waren: Israel, die Priester, die Leviten und die Nathinäer.

Die Bewohner von Jerusalem

In Jerusalem wohnten von den Söhnen Judas und von den Söhnen Benjamins, auch von den Söhnen Ephraims und Manasses:

Othei, der Sohn Ammiuds, des Sohnes Amris, des Sohnes Omrais, des Sohnes Bonnis, von den Nachkommen Phares, des Sohnes Judas.

Und von den Siloniten Asaja, der Erstgeborene, und seine Söhne.

Von den Söhnen Zaras aber: Jehuel und ihre Brüder, sechshundertneunzig.

Von den Söhnen Benjamins ferner: Salo, der Sohn Mosollams, des Sohnes Odujas, des Sohnes Asanas,

und Jobania, der Sohn Jerohams; und Ela, der Sohn Ozis, des Sohnes Mochoris, und Mosollam, der Sohn Saphatias, des Sohnes Rahuels, des Sohnes Jebanias,

und ihre Brüder nach ihren Familien, neunhundertsechsundfünfzig. Alle diese waren Fürsten der Familien nach ihren Vaterhäusern.

Die Priester in Jerusalem

Von den Priestern aber: Jedaja, Jojarib, Jachin

und Azarias, der Sohn Helkias, des Sohnes Mosolams, des Sohnes Sadoks, des Sohnes Marajoths, des Sohnes Achitobs, der Hohepriester im Hause Gottes.

Ferner Adajas, der Sohn Jerohams, des Sohnes Phassurs, des Sohnes Melchias; und Maasai, der Sohn Adiels, des Sohnes Jezras, des Sohnes Mosollams, des Sohnes Mosollamiths, des Sohnes Emmers;

und ihre Brüder, die Fürsten in ihren Familien, tausendsiebenhundertsechzig, sehr starke Helden, den Dienst des Hauses Gottes zu verrichten.

Die Leviten in Jerusalem

Von den Leviten aber: Semeja, der Sohn Hassubs, des Sohnes Ezrikams, des Sohnes Hasebias, von den Söhnen Meraris.

Ebenso Bakbakar, der Wagner, Galal und Mathania, der Sohn Michas, des Sohnes Zechris, des Sohnes Asaphs,

Obdia, der Sohn des Semejas, des Sohnes Galals, des Sohnes Idithuns; und Barachia, der Sohn Asas, des Sohnes Elkanas, welcher in den Gehöften der Netophatiter wohnte.

Die levitischen Torwächter

Die Türhüter aber waren: Sellum, Akkub, Telmon und Ahimam; ihr Bruder Sellum war der oberste;

bis auf diese Zeit hielten sie Wacht im Königstore gegen Osten nach ihren Ordnungen unter den Söhnen Levis.

Sellum aber, der Sohn Kores, des Sohnes Abiasaphs, des Sohnes Kores, und seine Brüder und das Haus seines Vaters, die Koriter, hatten als Dienstverrichtung die Wache am Eingange des Zeltes zu halten, wie ihre Familien abwechselnd an dem Eingang des Lagers des Herrn die Hut versahen.

Phinees aber, der Sohn Eleazars, war Fürst über sie vor dem Herrn.

Und Zacharias, der Sohn Mosollamias, war Türhüter am Eingange des Zeltes des Zeugnisses.

Diese alle, die zu Türhütern auserwählt waren, zählten zweihundertundzwölf und waren eingeschrieben nach ihren Gehöften; David und Samuel, der Seher, hatten sie um ihrer Treue willen eingesetzt,

sowohl sie als ihre Söhne an den Toren des Hauses des Herrn und an dem Zelte nach ihrer Reihenfolge.

Die Türhüter standen nach den vier Winden: das ist gegen Osten, gegen Westen, gegen Norden und gegen Süden.

Ihre Brüder aber wohnten in den Dörfern und kamen von einer Zeit zur anderen an ihren Sabbaten.

Diesen vier Leviten war die ganze Zahl der Türhüter anvertraut und sie waren über die Vorratskammern und die Schatzkammern des Hauses des Herrn gesetzt.

Auch wachten sie rings um den Tempel des Herrn, dass sie am Morgen, wenn es Zeit war, die Tore auftaten.

Andere Verantwortlichkeiten der Leviten

Und einige von ihrem Geschlechte waren auch über die Gerätschaften des Dienstes gesetzt; denn sie zählten dieselben, wenn die Gerätschaften hinein und herausgebracht wurden.

Einigen von ihnen waren die Gerätschaften des Heiligtums anvertraut und sie waren über das Weißmehl, den Wein, das Öl, den Weihrauch und die Spezereien gesetzt.

Die Söhne der Priester aber machten aus Spezereien die Salben.

Mathathias, ein Levit, der Erstgeborne Sellums, des Koriters, war über das gesetzt, was in der Pfanne gebacken wurde.

Und einige von den Söhnen Kaaths, ihren Brüdern, waren über die Schaubrote gesetzt, um immer an dem Sabbate neue herzurichten.

Das sind die obersten der Sänger unter den Familien der Leviten, die in den Zellen wohnten, um Tag und Nacht immerdar ihrer Amtsverrichtungen zu warten.

Die Häupter der Leviten, die Fürsten unter ihren Familien, blieben in Jerusalem.

Die Familie von König Saul

In Gabaon aber wohnte der Vater Gabaons Jehiel und sein Weib hieß Maacha.

Sein erstgeborner Sohn war Abdon und Sur, Kis, Baal, Ner, Nadab,

Gedor, Ahio, Zacharias und Makelloth.

Makelloth zeugte Samaan; diese wohnten mit ihren Brüdern in Jerusalem neben ihren Brüdern.

Und Ner zeugte Kis; Kis zeugte Saul; Saul zeugte Jonathan, Melchisua, Abinadab und Esbaal.

Jonathans Sohn war Meribbaal, Meribbaal zeugte Micha.

Und die Söhne Michas waren: Phithon, Melech, Tharaa und Ahaz.

Ahaz aber zeugte Jara, Jara zeugte Alamath, Azmoth und Zamri. Zamri aber zeugte Mosa.

Mosa zeugte Banaa, dessen Sohn Raphaja den Elasa zeugte, von welchem Asel herstammte.

Asel hatte sechs Söhne, deren Namen diese sind: Ezrikam, Bokru, Ismahel, Saria, Obdia, Hanan. Dies sind die Söhne Asels.
