- Kapitel 18 -

And the Lord sayd vnto Aaron, Thou, and thy sonnes and thy fathers house with thee, shall beare the iniquitie of the Sanctuarie: both thou and thy sonnes with thee shall beare the iniquitie of your Priestes office.

And bring also with thee thy brethren of the tribe of Leui of ye familie of thy father, which shalbe ioyned with thee, and minister vnto thee: but thou, and thy sonnes with thee shall minister before the Tabernacle of the Testimonie:

And they shall keepe thy charge, euen the charge of all the Tabernacle: but they shall not come neere the instruments of the Sanctuary, nor to the altar, lest they die, both they and you:

And they shalbe ioyned with thee, and keepe the charge of the Tabernacle of the Congregation for all the seruice of the Tabernacle: and no stranger shall come neere vnto you:

Therefore shall ye keepe the charge of the Sanctuarie, and the charge of the altar: so there shall fall no more wrath vpon the children of Israel.

For lo, I haue taken your brethren the Leuites from among the children of Israel, which as a gift of yours, are giuen vnto the Lord, to do the seruice of the Tabernacle of the Congregation.

But thou, and thy sonnes with thee shall keepe your Priestes office for all things of the altar, and within the vaile: therefore shall ye serue: for I haue made your Priestes office an office of seruice: therefore the stranger that cometh neere, shalbe slayne.

Offerings for Priests and Levites

Againe the Lord spake vnto Aaron, Behold, I haue giuen thee the keeping of mine offrings, of all the hallowed things of the children of Israel: vnto thee I haue giuen them for the anoyntings sake, and to thy sonnes, for a perpetuall ordinance.

This shalbe thine of the most holy things, reserued from the fire: all their offering of all their meate offring, and of all their sinne offring, and of all their trespasse offring, which they bring vnto me, that shalbe most holy vnto thee, and to thy sonnes.

In the most holy place shalt thou eate it: euery male shall eate of it: it is holy vnto thee.

This also shalbe thine: the heaue offering of their gift, with all the shake offerings of the children of Israel: I haue giuen them vnto thee and to thy sonnes and to thy daughters with thee, to be a duetie for euer al the cleane in thine house shall eate of it.

All the fat of the oyle, and all the fat of the wine, and of the wheate, which they shall offer vnto the Lord for their first fruites, I haue giuen them vnto thee.

And the first ripe of al that is in their land, which they shall bring vnto Lord, shalbe thine: all the cleane in thine house shall eate of it.

Euery thing separate from the common vse in Israel, shalbe thine.

All that first openeth the matrice of any flesh, which they shall offer vnto the Lord, of man or beast, shalbe thine: but the first borne of man shalt thou redeeme, and the first borne of the vncleane beast shalt thou redeeme.

And those that are to bee redeemed, shalt thou redeeme from the age of a moneth, according to thy estimation, for the money of fiue shekels, after the shekel of the Sanctuarie, which is twentie gerahs.

But the first borne of a kow, or the first borne of a sheepe, or the first borne of a goate shalt thou not redeeme: for they are holy: thou shalt sprinkle their blood at the altar, and thou shalt burne their fat: it is a sacrifice made by fire for a sweete sauour vnto the Lord.

And the flesh of them shalbe thine, as the shake breast, and as the right shoulder shalbe thine.

All the heaue offrings of the holy things which the children of Israel shall offer vnto the Lord, haue I giuen thee, and thy sonnes, and thy daughters with thee, to be a duetie for euer: it is a perpetual couenant of salt before the Lord, to thee, and to thy seede with thee.

And the Lord sayde vnto Aaron, Thou shalt haue none inheritance in their lande, neyther shalt thou haue any parte among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.

For beholde, I haue giuen the children of Leui all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their seruice which they serue in the Tabernacle of the Congregation.

Neyther shall the children of Israel any more come neere the Tabernacle of the Congregation, lest they susteine sinne, and die.

But the Leuites shall do the seruice in the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and they shall beare their sinne: it is a law for euer in your generations, that among the children of Israel they possesse none inheritance.

For the tythes of the children of Israel, which they shall offer as an offring vnto the Lord, I haue giuen the Leuites for an inheritance: therfore I haue said vnto them, Among the children of Israel ye shall possesse none inheritance.

And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,

Speake also vnto the Leuites and say vnto them, When ye shall take of the children of Israel the tithes, which I haue giuen you of them for your inheritance, then shall ye take an heaue offring of that same for the Lord, euen the tenth part of the tithe.

And your heaue offering shalbe reckened vnto you, as the corne of the barne, or as the abundance of the wine presse.

So ye shall also offer an heaue offring vnto the Lord of all your tithes, which ye shall receiue of the children of Israel, and ye shall giue thereof the Lords heaue offring to Aaron the Priest.

Ye shall offer of all your gifts al the Lords heaue offrings: of all the fat of the same shall ye offer the holy things thereof.

Therefore thou shalt say vnto them, When ye haue offred the fat thereof, then it shalbe couted vnto the Leuites, as the encrease of the corne floore, or as the encrease of the wine presse.

And ye shall eate it in al places, ye, and your housholdes: for it is your wages for your seruice in the Tabernacle of the Congregation.

And ye shall beare no sinne by the reason of it, when ye haue offred the fatte of it: neither shall ye pollute the holy things of the children of Israel, lest ye die.

Aufgaben der Priester und Leviten

Und der Herr sprach zu Aaron: Du und deine Söhne, und das Haus deines Vaters mit dir, sollt die Vergehungen gegen das Heiligtum tragen; und du und deine Söhne zugleich sollt die Sünden gegen euer Priestertum tragen.

Aber auch deine Brüder vom Stamme Levi, den Stab deines Vaters, nimm mit dir, sie sollen bereit sein, dir zu dienen; du aber und deine Söhne, ihr sollt den Dienst im Zelte des Zeugnisses versehen.

Und die Leviten sollen auf deine Befehle Acht haben und alle Dienste am Zelte versehen; jedoch den Geräten des Heiligtums und dem Altare sollen sie nicht nahen, damit nicht ebenso sie sterben und ihr alle zugleich umkommet.

Sie seien aber bei dir, und mögen auf die Hut des Zeltes Acht haben, und den gesamten heiligen Dienst bei demselben besorgen. Kein Fremder soll sich unter euch mischen.

Besorget die Hut des Heiligtums und den Dienst am Altare, damit kein Zorngericht über die Söhne Israels komme.

Ich habe euch eure Brüder, die Leviten, aus der Mitte der Söhne Israels gegeben und sie als Geschenk dem Herrn zu eigen gegeben, damit sie den Dienst an seinem Zelte versehen.

Du aber und deine Söhne, waltet eures Priesteramtes; und alles, was zum Dienste am Altare gehört und innerhalb des Vorhanges ist, soll durch die Priester versehen werden. Wenn ein Fremder sich naht, soll er getötet werden.

Opfergaben für den Unterhalt der Priester

Und der Herr sprach zu Aaron: Siehe, ich übergebe dir die Hut über meine Erstlinge. Alles, was von den Söhnen Israels geheiligt wird, bestimme ich dir und deinen Söhnen für den priesterlichen Dienst als ewiges Recht.

Folgendes also sollst du von dem, was geweiht und dem Herrn dargebracht wird, nehmen. Alle Opfergaben und Speiseopfer, und was als Sünd- und Schuldopfer mir dargebracht wird und hochheilig ist, soll dir und deinen Söhnen gehören.

Im Heiligtume sollst du es essen; und nur die männlichen Personen sollen davon essen, weil es dir geweiht ist.

Die Erstlinge aber, welche die Söhne Israels geloben und opfern, schenke ich dir, und deinen Söhnen, und deinen Töchtern, als ewiges Recht; wer in deinem Hause rein ist, darf davon essen.

Alles Beste vom Öl, vom Wein und vom Getreide, alles, was sie dem Herrn an Erstlingen darbringen, gebe ich dir.

Alle Erstlinge der Früchte, welche der Boden erzeugt und die dem Herrn dargebracht werden, sollen zu deinem Gebrauche dienen; wer in deinem Hause rein ist, darf davon essen.

Alles, was die Söhne Israels infolge eines Gelübdes darbringen, soll dein sein.

Alles, was zuerst den Mutterschoß durchbricht von allem Fleische, das man dem Herrn opfert, es sei Mensch oder Vieh, soll dir gehören; doch so, dass du für die Erstgebornen unter den Menschen Lösegeld nehmen und alle Erstgeburt der unreinen Tiere auslösen lässest.

Nach einem Monat sollst du sie auslösen lassen um fünf Sekel Silber, nach dem Gewichte des Heiligtums. Der Sekel hat zwanzig Obolen.

Dagegen die Erstgeburt eines Rindes, oder eines Schafes, oder einer Ziege sollst du nicht auslösen lassen, weil sie dem Herrn geweiht sind; nur ihr Blut sollst du über den Altar gießen und ihr Fett zum lieblichen Geruche für den Herrn verbrennen.

Ihr Fleisch aber soll zu deinem Gebrauche dienen, wie auch das geweihte Bruststück und die rechte Schulter dein sein sollen.

Alle Erstlingsgaben für das Heiligtum, welche die Söhne Israels dem Herrn darbringen, gebe ich dir, und deinen Söhnen, und deinen Töchtern, als ewiges Recht. Es ist ein ewig geltender Salzbund vor dem Herrn, für dich und deine Söhne.

Und der Herr sprach zu Aaron: Ihr sollt in ihrem Lande keinen Besitz, noch Anteil unter ihnen haben; ich bin dein Anteil und Erbbesitz inmitten der Söhne Israels.

Zehnten für den Unterhalt der Leviten

Alle Zehnten Israels aber gebe ich den Söhnen Levis als Besitz für den Dienst, den sie mir am Zelte des Bundes verrichten,

dass die Söhne Israels fortan nicht mehr dem Zelte nahen und eine Sünde begehen, die den Tod bringt.

Nur die Söhne Levis sollen mir am Zelte dienen und die Sünden des Volkes auf sich nehmen; dies sei eine bei euch von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht ewig geltende Vorschrift. Sie sollen keinen andern Besitz haben,

sondern mit dem dargebrachten Zehnten zufrieden sein, den ich zu ihrem Gebrauche und zu ihrem Bedarf eigens bestimmt habe.

Der Zehnte der Leviten

Und der Herr redete zu Moses und sprach:

Befiehl den Leviten und sage ihnen: Wenn ihr von den Söhnen Israels den Zehnten empfanget, den ich euch gegeben, so bringet die Erstlinge davon, das ist den Zehnten vom Zehnten, dem Herrn dar,

dass es euch als Erstlingsopfer angerechnet werde, von der Tenne sowohl wie von der Kelter.

Desgleichen sollt ihr von allem, wovon ihr die Erstlinge empfanget, dem Herrn ein Opfer darbringen und es Aaron, dem Priester, geben.

Alles, was ihr von dem Zehnten darbringt und als Gabe für den Herrn absondert, soll das Beste und Auserlesenste sein.

Sage ihnen auch: Wenn ihr das Beste und Auserlesenste von den Zehnten opfert, so soll es euch so angerechnet werden, als hättet ihr die Erstlinge von Tenne und Kelter gegeben;

und ihr und eure Familien dürft es an allen euren Orten verzehren; denn es ist der Lohn für den Dienst, den ihr im Zelte des Zeugnisses tuet.

versündiget euch nicht dadurch, dass ihr das Beste und fetteste für euch behaltet, damit ihr die Gaben der Söhne Israels nicht entheiliget und sterbet.
