- Kapitel 4 -

(Matthew 4:1–11; Mark 1:12–13)

And Iesus full of the holy Ghost returned from Iordan, and was led by that Spirit into the wildernes,

And was there fourtie dayes tempted of the deuil, and in those dayes he did eate nothing: but when they were ended, he afterward was hungry.

Then the deuil saide vnto him, If thou be the Sonne of God, commaund this stone that it be made bread.

But Iesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not liue by bread only, but by euery word of God.

Then the deuill tooke him vp into an high mountaine, and shewed him all the kingdomes of the world, in the twinkeling of an eye.

And the deuill saide vnto him, All this power will I giue thee, and the glory of those kingdomes: for that is deliuered to mee: and to whomsoeuer I will, I giue it.

If thou therefore wilt worship mee, they shalbe all thine.

But Iesus answered him, and saide, Hence from mee, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him alone thou shalt serue.

Then hee brought him to Hierusalem, and set him on a pinacle of the Temple, and said vnto him, If thou be the Sonne of God, cast thy selfe downe from hence,

For it is written, That hee will giue his Angels charge ouer thee to keepe thee:

And with their handes they shall lift thee vp, least at any time thou shouldest dash thy foote against a stone.

And Iesus answered, and said vnto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

And when the deuil had ended all the tentation, he departed from him for a litle season.

Jesus Begins His Ministry

(Isaiah 9:1–7; Matthew 4:12–17; Mark 1:14–15)

And Iesus returned by the power of the spirite into Galile: and there went a fame of him throughout all the region round about.

For he taught in their Synagogues, and was honoured of all men.

The Rejection at Nazareth

(Isaiah 61:1–11; Matthew 13:53–58; Mark 6:1–6)

And hee came to Nazareth where hee had bene brought vp, and (as his custome was) went into the Synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stoode vp to reade.

And there was deliuered vnto him the booke of the Prophet Esaias: and when hee had opened the booke, hee founde the place, where it was written,

The Spirit of the Lord is vpon mee, because he hath anoynted me, that I should preach the Gospel to the poore: he hath sent mee, that I should heale the broken hearted, that I should preach deliuerance to the captiues, and recouering of sight to the blinde, that I should set at libertie them that are bruised:

And that I should preache the acceptable yeere of the Lord.

And hee closed the booke, and gaue it againe to the minister, and sate downe: and the eyes of all that were in the Synagogue were fastened on him.

Then he began to say vnto them, This day is the Scripture fulfilled in your eares.

And all bare him witnes, and wondered at the gracious wordes, which proceeded out of his mouth, and said, Is not this Iosephs sonne?

Then he said vnto them, Ye will surely say vnto mee this prouerbe, Physician, heale thy selfe: whatsoeuer we haue heard done in Capernaum, doe it here likewise in thine owne countrey.

And he saide, Verely I say vnto you, No Prophet is accepted in his owne countrey.

But I tell you of a trueth, many widowes were in Israel in the dayes of Elias, when heauen was shut three yeres and sixe moneths, when great famine was throughout all the land:

But vnto none of them was Elias sent, saue into Sarepta, a citie of Sidon, vnto a certaine widowe.

Also many lepers were in Israel, in the time of Eliseus the Prophet: yet none of them was made cleane, sauing Naaman the Syrian.

Then all that were in the Synagogue, when they heard it, were filled with wrath,

And rose vp, and thrust him out of the citie, and led him vnto the edge of the hil, whereon their citie was built, to cast him downe headlong.

But he passed through the middes of them, and went his way,

Jesus Expels an Unclean Spirit

(Mark 1:21–28)

And came downe into Capernaum a citie of Galile, and there taught them on the Sabbath dayes.

And they were astonied at his doctrine: for his worde was with authoritie.

And in the Synagogue there was a man which had a spirit of an vncleane deuill, which cryed with a loude voyce,

Saying, Oh, what haue we to doe with thee, thou Iesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy vs? I know who thou art, euen the holy one of God.

And Iesus rebuked him, saying, Holde thy peace, and come out of him. Then the deuill throwing him in the middes of them, came out of him, and hurt him nothing at all.

So feare came on them all, and they spake among themselues, saying, What thing is this: for with authoritie and power he commaundeth the foule spirits, and they come out?

And ye fame of him spred abroad throughout all the places of the countrey round about.

Jesus Heals at Peter’s House

(Matthew 8:14–17; Mark 1:29–34)

And he rose vp, and came out of the Synagogue, and entred into Simons house. And Simons wiues mother was taken with a great feuer, and they required him for her.

Then he stoode ouer her, and rebuked the feuer, and it left her, and immediatly she arose, and ministred vnto them.

Now at the sunne setting, all they that had sicke folkes of diuers diseases, brought them vnto him, and he layd his hands on euery one of them, and healed them.

And deuils also came out of many, crying, and saying, Thou art that Christ that Sonne of God: but he rebuked them, and suffered them not to say that they knewe him to be that Christ.

Jesus Preaches in Judea

(Mark 1:35–39)

And when it was day, he departed, and went foorth into a desart place, and the people sought him, and came to him, and kept him that he should not depart from them.

But he sayd vnto them, Surely I must also preach the kingdome of God to other cities: for therefore am I sent.

And hee preached in the Synagogues of Galile.

Satan versucht Jesus

(Matthäus 4,1-11; Markus 1,12-13)

Jesus aber, voll des Heiligen Geistes, kehrte zurück vom Jordan, und ward vom Geiste in die Wüste geführt.

Vierzig Tage blieb er allda, und wurde von dem Teufel versucht. Er aß nichts in jenen Tagen, und als dieselben vorüber waren, hungerte ihn.

Da sprach der Teufel zu ihm: Wenn du Gottes Sohn bist, so sprich zu diesem Steine, dass er Brot werde.

Jesus aber antwortete ihm: Es steht geschrieben: Nicht vom Brote allein lebt der Mensch, sondern von jedem Worte Gottes!

Und der Teufel führte ihn auf einen hohen Berg, und zeigte ihm alle Reiche des Erdkreises in einem Augenblicke,

und sprach zu ihm: Dir werde ich alle diese Macht und ihre Herrlichkeit geben; denn sie sind mir übergeben, und wem ich will, gebe ich sie.

Wenn du mich nun anbetest, so soll alles dein sein.

Jesus antwortete, und sprach zu ihm: Es steht geschrieben: Den Herrn, deinen Gott, sollst du anbeten, und ihm allein dienen!

Und er führte ihn nach Jerusalem, und stellte ihn auf die Zinne des Tempels, und sprach zu ihm: Wenn du Gottes Sohn bist, so stürze dich von hier hinab!

Denn es steht geschrieben: Er hat seinen Engeln deinethalben geboten, dass sie dich bewahren;

und: Sie werden dich auf den Händen tragen, dass du nicht etwa deinen Fuß an einen Stein stoßest.

Jesus antwortete, und sprach zu ihm: Es ist gesagt: Du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, nicht versuchen!

Nachdem nun der Teufel alle Versuchung vollendet hatte, wich er von ihm auf eine Zeit.

Jesus beginnt sein Wirken in Galiläa

(Jesaja 9,1-7; Matthäus 4,12-17; Markus 1,14-15)

Und Jesus kam in der Kraft des Geistes nach Galiläa zurück, und der Ruf von ihm verbreitete sich in der ganzen Umgebung.

Und er lehrte in ihren Synagogen, und wurde von allen hochgepriesen.

Jesus wird in Nazareth abgelehnt

(Jesaja 61,1-11; Matthäus 13,53-58; Markus 6,1-6)

Und er kam nach Nazareth, wo er auferzogen worden war, und ging nach seiner Gewohnheit am Sabbate in die Synagoge, und stand auf, um vorzulesen.

Da wurde ihm das Buch des Propheten Isaias gereicht. Und als er das Buch aufrollte, fand er die Stelle, wo geschrieben stand:

Der Geist des Herrn ist über mir; darum hat er mich gesalbet, und mich gesendet, den Armen das Evangelium zu verkünden, zu heilen, die zerknirschten Herzens sind,

den Gefangenen Erlösung zu verkünden, den Blinden das Gesicht, die Zerschlagenen frei zu entlassen, ein angenehmes Jahr des Herrn und einen Tag der Vergeltung zu predigen.

Und er rollte das Buch zu, gab es dem Diener, und setzte sich. Und aller Augen in der Synagoge waren auf ihn gerichtet.

Er aber fing an zu ihnen zu sprechen: Heute ist diese Schriftstelle vor euch in Erfüllung gegangen.

Und alle gaben ihm Zeugnis, und verwunderten sich über die anmutsvollen Worte, die aus seinem Munde flossen, und sprachen: Ist dieser nicht der Sohn Josephs?

Und er sprach zu ihnen: Freilich werdet ihr mir jenes Sprichwort sagen: Arzt! Heile dich selbst. Die großen Dinge, welche, wie wir gehört, in Kapharnaum geschehen sind, tue auch hier in deiner Vaterstadt!

Er aber sprach: Wahrlich, ich sage euch, kein Prophet ist genehm in seinem Vaterlande!

In Wahrheit sage ich euch: Viele Witwen waren zur Zeit des Elias in Israel, als der Himmel drei Jahre und sechs Monate verschlossen war, da eine große Hungersnot über das ganze Land kam;

aber zu keiner von ihnen ward Elias gesendet, als nach Sarepta in der Landschaft von Sidon zu einer Witwe.

So waren auch zur Zeit des Propheten Elisäus viele Aussätzige in Israel; aber keiner von ihnen wurde gereinigt, als Naaman, der Syrer.

Da wurden alle in der Synagoge voll Zorn, als sie dies hörten.

Und sie standen auf, und stießen ihn zur Stadt hinaus, und führten ihn auf den Hochrand des Berges, auf welchen ihre Stadt gebaut war, um ihn hinabzustürzen.

Er aber schritt mitten durch sie hin, und ging hinweg.

Jesus treibt einen unreinen Geist aus

(Markus 1,21-28)

Und er ging hinab nach Kapharnaum, einer Stadt in Galiläa, und lehrte sie daselbst an den Sabbaten.

Und sie erstaunten über seine Lehre, denn seine Rede war gewaltig.

Nun war in der Synagoge ein Mensch, der einen unreinen bösen Geist hatte, dieser rief mit lauter Stimme,

und sprach: Lass uns, was haben wir mit dir zu schaffen, Jesus von Nazareth? Bist du gekommen, uns zu verderben? Ich weiß, wer du bist: der Heilige Gottes!

Jesus schalt ihn, und sprach: Verstumme, und fahre aus von ihm! Und der böse Geist warf ihn mitten hin, und fuhr aus von ihm, ohne ihm Schaden zu tun.

Da kam Schrecken über alle, und sie redeten untereinander, und sprachen: Was ist das für ein Wort, dass er mit Gewalt und Kraft den unreinen Geistern gebietet, und sie ausfahren?

Und der Ruf von ihm verbreitete sich in alle Orte der Umgebung.

Die Schwiegermutter des Petrus wird geheilt

(Matthäus 8,14-17; Markus 1,29-34)

Jesus aber machte sich auf aus der Synagoge, und ging in das Haus des Simon. Die Schwiegermutter des Simon aber war von einem heftigen Fieber befallen; und sie baten ihn für sie.

Und sich über sie beugend, gebot er dem Fieber, und es verließ sie. Da stand sie sogleich auf, und bediente sie.

Viele Geheilte nach Sabbat-Sonnenuntergang

Mit Untergang der Sonne aber brachten alle, welche an verschiedenen Krankheiten Leidende hatten, dieselben zu ihm; und er legte einem jeden einzelnen die Hände auf, und machte sie gesund.

Es fuhren auch von vielen böse Geister aus, indem sie schrien, und sprachen: Du bist der Sohn Gottes! Er aber bedrohte sie, und ließ sie nicht reden, weil sie wussten, dass er Christus sei.

Jesus verkündigt in Galiläa

(Markus 1,35-39)

Als es aber Tag geworden, ging er hinaus, und begab sich an einen einsamen Ort. Und das Volk suchte ihn, und kam bis zu ihm: und es hielt ihn zurück, dass er nicht von ihnen gehen sollte.

Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Auch den andern Städten muss ich das Evangelium vom Reiche Gottes verkünden; denn dazu bin ich gesandt.

Und er predigte in den Synagogen von Galiläa.
