- Kapitel 26 -

Ye shall make you none idoles nor grauen image, neither reare you vp any pillar, neither shall ye set any image of stone in your land to bow downe to it: for I am the Lord your God.

Ye shall keepe my Sabbaths, and reuerence my Sanctuarie: I am the Lord.

If ye walke in mine ordinances, and keepe my commandements, and doe them,

I will then sende you raine in due season, and the land shall yelde her increase, and the trees of the fielde shall giue her fruite.

And your threshing shall reache vnto the vintage, and the vintage shall reache vnto sowing time, and you shall eate your bread in plenteousnesse, and dwell in your land safely.

And I will sende peace in the land, and ye shall sleepe and none shall make you afraid: also I will rid euill beastes out of the lande, and the sworde shall not go through your lande.

Also ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you vpon the sworde.

And fiue of you shall chase an hundreth, and an hundreth of you shall put ten thousande to flight, and your enemies shall fall before you vpon the sworde.

For I will haue respect vnto you, and make you encrease, and multiplie you, and establish my couenant with you.

Ye shall eate also olde store, and cary out olde because of the newe.

And I will set my Tabernacle among you, and my soule shall not lothe you.

Also I will walke among you, and I wil be your God, and ye shalbe my people.

I am the Lord your God which haue brought you out of the lande of Egypt, that yee should not be their bondmen, and I haue broken ye bonds of your yoke, and made you goe vpright.

Punishments for Disobedience

(Leviticus 20:1–9; Deuteronomy 28:15–68)

But if ye will not obey me, nor do all these commandements,

And if ye shall despise mine ordinances, either if your soule abhorre my lawes, so that yee will not do all my commandements, but breake my couenant,

Then wil I also do this vnto you, I wil appoint ouer you fearefulnes, a consumption, and the burning ague to consume the eyes, and make the heart heauie, and you shall sowe your seede in vaine: for your enemies shall eate it:

And I will set my face against you, and ye shall fal before your enemies, and they that hate you, shall raigne ouer you, and yee shall flee when none pursueth you.

And if ye wil not for these things obey me, then wil I punish you seuen times more, according to your sinnes,

And I wil breake the pride of your power, and I will make your heauen as yron, and your earth as brasse:

And your strength shalbe spent in vaine: neither shall your lande giue her increase, neither shall the trees of the land giue their fruite.

And if ye walke stubburnly against me, and will not obey mee, I will then bring seuen times more plagues vpon you, according to your sinnes.

I will also sende wilde beastes vpon you, which shall spoyle you, and destroy your cattell, and make you fewe in number: so your hye waies shalbe desolate.

Yet if by these ye will not be reformed by me, but walke stubburnly against me,

Then wil I also walke stubburnly against you, and I will smite you yet seuen times for your sinnes:

And I wil send a sword vpon you, that shall auenge the quarel of my couenant: and when ye are gathered in your cities, I wil send the pestilence among you, and ye shall be deliuered into the hand of the enemie.

When I shall breake the staffe of your bread, then ten women shall bake your breade in one ouen, and they shall deliuer your bread againe by weight, and ye shall eate, but not be satisfied.

Yet if ye will not for this obey mee, but walke against me stubburnly,

Then will I walke stubburnly in mine anger against you, and I will also chastice you seuen times more according to your sinnes.

And ye shall eate ye flesh of your sonnes, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye deuoure.

I will also destroy your hye places, and cut away your images, and cast your carkeises vpon the bodies of your idoles, and my soule shall abhorre you.

And I will make your cities desolate, and bring your Sanctuarie vnto nought, and will not smelll the sauour of your sweete odours.

I will also bring the land vnto a wildernes, and your enemies, which dwell therein, shalbe astonished thereat.

Also I wil scatter you among the heathen, and will drawe out a sworde after you, and your land shalbe waste, and your cities shalbe desolate.

Then shall the land inioy her Sabbaths, as long as it lieth voide, and yee shalbe in your enemies land: then shall the land rest, and enioy her Sabbaths.

All the dayes that it lieth voide, it shall rest, because it did not rest in your Sabbaths, when ye dwelt vpon it.

And vpon them that are left of you, I will send euen a faintnes into their hearts in ye land of their enemies, and the sounde of a leafeshaken shall chase them, and they shall flee as fleeing from a sword, and they shall fall, no man pursuing them.

They shall fall also one vpon another, as before a sword, though none pursue them, and ye shall not be able to stand before your enemies:

And ye shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your enemies shall eate you vp.

And they that are left of you, shall pine away for their iniquitie, in your enemies landes, and for the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them also.

God Remembers Those Who Repent

Then they shall confesse their iniquitie, and the wickednes of their fathers for their trespasse, which they haue trespassed against mee, and also because they haue walked stubburnly against me.

Therefore I wil walke stubburnly against them, and bring them into the land of their enemies: so then their vncircumcised hearts shalbe humbled, and then they shalt willingly beare the punishment of their iniquitie.

Then I will remember my couenant with Iaakob, and my couenant also with Izhak, and also my couenant with Abraham will I remember, and will remember the land.

The land also in the meane season shalbe left of them, and shall enioye her Sabbaths while she lieth waste without them, but they shall willingly suffer the punishment of their iniquitie, because they despised my lawes, and because their soule abhorred mine ordinances.

Yet notwithstanding this, when they shalbe in the lande of their enemies, I wil not cast them away, neither will I abhorre them, to destroy them vtterly, nor to breake my couenant with them: for I am the Lord their God:

But I will remember for them the couenant of olde when I brought them out of ye land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen that I might be their God: I am the Lord.

These are the ordinances, and the iudgements, and the lawes, which the Lord made betweene him, and the children of Israel in mount Sinai, by the hand of Moses.

Verheißung von Segen und Vergeltung

Ich bin der Herr euer Gott: Ihr sollt euch keinen Götzen und kein geschnitztes Bild machen, noch sollt ihr in eurem Lande Bildsäulen aufrichten, oder Denksteine setzen, um sie anzubeten; denn ich bin der Herr, euer Gott.

Haltet meine Sabbate und habet Ehrfurcht vor meinem Heiligtum. Ich bin der Herr.

Wenn ihr nach meinen Satzungen wandelt, und meine Gebote bewahrt und sie tuet, so werde ich euch Regen geben zu seiner Zeit,

und die Erde wird ihren Ertrag geben, und die Bäume werden voller Früchte sein.

Die Dreschzeit soll bis an die Weinlese reichen, und die Weinlese bis zur Aussaat; ihr werdet Brot in Fülle zu essen haben und ohne Furcht in eurem Lande wohnen.

Ich werde eurem Lande Frieden geben; ihr werdet schlafen, und niemand wird euch aufstören. Ich werde die wilden Tiere ausrotten, und das Schwert wird eure Grenzen nicht überschreiten.

Ihr werdet eure Feinde verfolgen, und sie werden vor euch niederstürzen.

Fünf der Eurigen werden hundert Fremde verfolgen, und hundert von euch zehntausend; eure Feinde werden vor eurem Angesichte durch das Schwert fallen.

Ich werde auf euch schauen und euch zahlreich machen; ihr werdet euch mehren, und ich werde meinen Bund mit euch in Kraft stetig erhalten.

Ihr werde Altes aus den Vorjahren essen und das Alte wegschaffen, da das Neue kommt.

Ich werde meine Wohnung in eurer Mitte aufrichten, und meine Seele wird euch nicht verwerfen.

Ich werde unter euch wandeln und ich werde euer Gott sein, und ihr werdet mein Volk sein.

Ich bin der Herr, euer Gott, der euch aus dem Lande der Ägypter geführt hat, dass ihr ihnen nicht dientet; der die Ketten an eurem Nacken zerbrochen hat, dass ihr aufrecht einherginget.

(3. Mose 20,1-9; 5. Mose 28,15-68)

Wenn ihr aber nicht auf mich hört und nicht nach allen meinen Geboten tut,

wenn ihr meine Gesetze verwerft und meine Anordnungen verachtet, so dass ihr das nicht tut, was ich geboten habe, und meinen Bund zunichte macht,

so werde ich hingegen euch dies tun: Plötzlich werde ich euch mit Armut und Fieber heimsuchen, das eure Augen erlöschen und das Leben schwinden macht. Vergeblich werdet ihr die Saaten säen, denn die Feinde werden sie verzehren.

Ich werde mein Angesicht wider euch richten, dass ihr vor euren Feinden zu Falle kommen und denen unterliegen werdet, die euch hassen; ihr werdet fliehen, wenn auch niemand euch verfolgt.

Wenn ihr mir aber auch dann noch nicht gehorcht, so werde ich um eurer Sünden willen eure Züchtigungen siebenfach vermehren

und den Stolz eurer Halsstarrigkeit brechen. Und ich werde den Himmel oben wie Eisen, und die Erde wie Erz für euch werden lassen.

Vergeblich wird dann euer Mühen bleiben, der Boden wird keinen Ertrag mehr geben, und die Bäume keine Früchte mehr tragen.

Wenn ihr mir entgegentretet und mir nicht gehorchen wollt, so werde ich eure Plagen um eurer Sünden willen siebenfach mehren

und werde die wilden Tiere über euch kommen lassen, die euch und euer Vieh auffressen und alles so mindern sollen, dass eure Straßen öde werden.

Und wenn ihr auch so noch keine Zucht annehmen wollt, sondern mir noch entgegentretet,

so werde auch ich euch entgegentreten und euch um eurer Sünden willen siebenmal schlagen

und werde das Schwert der Rache für meinen Bund über euch bringen. Und wenn ihr dann in die Städte fliehet, werde ich die Pest unter euch senden, und ihr werdet in die Hände eurer Feinde überliefert werden,

wenn ich euch die Stütze des Brotes zerbrochen habe, so zwar, dass zehn Weiber in einem Ofen Brot backen und es nach dem Gewichte zurückbringen; und ihr werdet essen und doch nicht satt werden.

Und wenn ihr trotzdem noch nicht gehorsam seid, sondern mir entgegentretet,

so werde auch ich euch in feindlichem Grimm entgegentreten und euch um eurer Sünden willen siebenfach züchtigen,

so dass ihr das Fleisch eurer Söhne und eurer Töchter essen werdet.

Ich werde eure Höhen zerstören und eure Bildsäulen zerbrechen. Ihr werdet unter den Trümmern eurer Götzen dahinsinken, und meine Seele wird euch verabscheuen,

derart, dass ich eure Städte zu Einöden, und eure Heiligtümer wüste machen werde, und den lieblichen Geruch hinfort nicht mehr annehme.

Auch werde ich euer Land dem Verderben anheimgeben, dass sich eure Feinde darüber entsetzen werden, wenn sie sich in demselben niederlassen.

Euch aber werde ich unter die Völker zerstreuen und werde hinter euch das Schwert ziehen, und euer Land wird wüste sein, und eure Städte werden in Trümmer liegen.

Dann wird sich das Land seiner Sabbate erfreuen die ganze Zeit hindurch, während es wüste liegt; während ihr

in Feindesland sein werdet, wird es feiern und ruhen an den Sabbaten seiner Verödung, weil es an euren Sabbaten nicht ruhen durfte, als ihr noch in demselben wohntet.

Und das Herz derer, die von euch übrig geblieben sind, werde ich mit Furcht erfüllen in den Ländern ihrer Feinde, das Rauschen eines verwehten Blattes wir sie schrecken, so dass sie davor fliehen, wie vor dem Schwerte; sie werden fallen, obschon niemand sie verfolgt,

und werden übereinander stürzen, wie auf der Flucht aus dem Kampfe, und keiner von euch wird es wagen, den Feinden zu widerstehen;

ihr werdet unter den Völkern zu Grunde gehen, und das Land der Feinde wird euch verzehren.

Wenn aber auch einige von ihnen übriggeblieben sind, so werden diese wegen ihrer Sünden im Land ihrer Feinde dahinsiechen, und um der Sünden ihrer Väter willen und ihrer Sünden willen werden sie Bedrängnis leiden,

bis sie ihre Missetaten und die Sünden ihrer Vorfahren bekennen, durch die sie gegen mich gesündigt haben und mir entgegengetreten sind.

Darum will auch ich ihnen entgegentreten und sie in das Land ihrer Feinde bringen, bis ihr unbeschnittenes Herz erröten lernt; alsdann werden sie für ihre Frevel flehen.

Dann werde ich meines Bundes gedenken, den ich mit Jakob, Isaak und Abraham geschlossen habe. Auch des Landes werde ich gedenken,

das, von ihnen verlassen, sich seiner Sabbate erfreuen und um ihretwillen Verödung leiden wird. Sie aber werden wegen ihrer Sünden beten, weil sie meine Anordnungen verworfen und meine Gesetze verachtet haben.

Aber selbst dann, wenn sie im Lande ihrer Feinde sind, werde ich sie nicht ganz verwerfen, noch so gering achten, dass sie gänzlich vertilgt werden und ich meinen Bund mit ihnen brechen sollte. Ich bin ja der Herr, ihr Gott,

und werde meines früheren Bundes gedenken, da ich sie aus dem Lande Ägypten vor den Augen der Völker geführt habe, um ihr Gott zu sein, ich der Herr. Dies sind die Satzungen und Gebote und Gesetze, die der Herr zwischen sich und den Söhnen Israels am Berge Sinai durch Moses gegeben hat.
