- Kapitel 9 -

And God blessed Noah and his sonnes, and said to them, Bring foorth fruite, and multiplie, and replenish the earth.

Also the feare of you, and the dread of you shalbe vpon euery beast of the earth, and vpon euery foule of the heauen, vpon all that moueth on the earth, and vpon all the fishes of the sea: into your hand are they deliuered.

Euery thing that moueth and liueth, shall be meate for you: as the greene herbe, haue I giuen you all things.

But flesh with the life thereof, I meane, with the blood thereof, shall ye not eate.

For surely I will require your blood, wherein your liues are: at the hand of euery beast will I require it: and at the hand of man, euen at the hand of a mans brother will I require the life of man.

Who so sheadeth mans blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God hath he made man.

But bring ye forth fruite and multiplie: grow plentifully in the earth, and increase therein.

God spake also to Noah and to his sonnes with him, saying,

Behold, I, euen I establish my couenant with you, and with your seede after you,

And with euery liuing creature that is with you, with the foule, with the cattell, and with euery beast of the earth with you, from all that goe out of the Arke, vnto euery beast of the earth.

And my couenant will I establish with you, that from henceforth all flesh shall not be rooted out by ye waters of the flood, neither shall there be a flood to destroy the earth any more.

Then God saide, This is the token of the couenant which I make betweene me and you, and betweene euery liuing thing, that is with you vnto perpetuall generations.

I haue set my bowe in the cloude, and it shalbe for a signe of the couenant betweene me and the earth.

And when I shall couer the earth with a cloud, and the bowe shall be seene in the cloude,

Then will I remember my couenant, which is betweene me and you, and betweene euery liuing thing in all flesh, and there shalbe no more waters of a flood to destroy all flesh.

Therefore the bowe shalbe in the cloude, that I may see it, and remember the euerlasting couenant betweene God, and euery liuing thing in all flesh that is vpon the earth.

God said yet to Noah, This is the signe of the couenant, which I haue established betweene me and all flesh that is vpon the earth.

Noah’s Shame and Canaan’s Curse

Nowe the sonnes of Noah going foorth of the Arke, were Shem and Ham and Iapheth. And Ham is the father of Canaan.

These are the three sonnes of Noah, and of them was the whole earth ouerspred.

Noah also began to be an husband man and planted a vineyard.

And he drunke of ye wine and was drunken, and was vncouered in the middes of his tent.

And when Ham the father of Canaan sawe the nakednesse of his father, he tolde his two brethren without.

Then tooke Shem and Iapheth a garment, and put it vpon both their shoulders, and went backwarde, and couered the nakednesse of their father with their faces backwarde: so they sawe not their fathers nakednesse.

Then Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his yonger sonne had done vnto him,

And said, Cursed be Canaan: a seruant of seruants shall he be vnto his brethren.

Shem’s Blessing and Noah’s Death

He said moreouer, blessed be the Lord God of Shem, and let Canaan be his seruant.

God perswade Iapheth, that he may dwell in the tentes of Shem, and let Canaan be his seruant.

And Noah liued after the flood three hundreth and fiftie yeeres.

So all the dayes of Noah were nine hundreth and fiftie yeeres: and he died.

Gottes Verheißung an Noah

Da segnete Gott Noe und seine Söhne und sprach zu ihnen: Wachset, und mehret euch, und erfüllet die Erde!

Furcht und Schrecken vor euch komme über alle Tiere der Erde, und über alle Vögel des Himmels, über alles, was sich auf Erden regt; alle Fische des Meeres sind in eure Hand gegeben.

Und alles, was sich regt und lebt, soll euch zur Speise dienen, wie das grüne Kraut übergebe ich es euch alles.

Nur Fleisch, das noch sein Blut in sich hat, sollt ihr nicht essen.

Denn das Blut eures Lebens will ich von allen Tieren fordern; und von der Hand des Menschen, von der Hand des Mannes, als der sein Bruder ist, will ich das Leben des Menschen fordern.

Wer Menschenblut vergießt, dessen Blut soll vergossen werden; denn nach Gottes Bilde ist der Mensch geschaffen.

Ihr aber wachset und mehret euch, und gehet hin über die Erde, und erfüllet sie!

Und Gott sprach zu Noe und seinen Söhnen mit ihm:

Sehet, ich will meinen Bund mit euch errichten und mit euren Nachkommen nach euch;

auch für alle lebenden Wesen, die bei euch sind, an Vögeln, an Vieh, und an allen Tieren der Erde, die aus der Arche heraus gegangen sind, für alle Tiere der Erde.

Ich will meinen Bund mit euch errichten, dass hinfort nicht mehr alle Geschöpfe durch eine Wasserflut getötet werden sollen, und dass hinfort keine Flut mehr kommen soll, die Erde zu verheeren.

Und Gott sprach: Dies sei das Zeichen des Bundes, den ich zwischen mir und euch stifte, und für alle lebenden Wesen, die bei euch sind, auf alle Geschlechter:

Meinen Bogen will ich in die Wolken setzen, und er sei zum Bundeszeichen zwischen mir und der Erde.

Und wenn ich den Himmel mit Wolken umziehe, soll mein Bogen in den Wolken erscheinen;

und ich will meines Bundes gedenken, der mit euch und allen lebenden Wesen in allem Fleische besteht; und es soll hinfort keine Wasserflut mehr kommen, alles Fleisch zu vertilgen.

Und wenn der Bogen in den Wolken steht, werde ich auf ihn schauen und des ewigen Bundes gedenken, der zwischen Gott und jedem lebenden Wesen in allem Fleische geschlossen ist, das auf Erden ist.

Und Gott sprach zu Noe: Dies soll das Zeichen des Bundes sein, den ich zwischen mir und allem Fleische auf Erden errichtet habe.

Noah und seine Söhne

Es waren aber die Söhne Noes, die aus der Arche hervorgingen, Sem, Cham und Japheth; Cham aber ist der Vater Chanaans.

Dies sind die drei Söhne Noes; und von ihnen ist das gesamte Menschengeschlecht fortgepflanzt worden über die ganze Erde hin.

Und Noe fing an, als Ackermann die Erde zu bebauen, und pflanzte einen Weinberg.

Und da er Wein trank, wurde er trunken und lag entblößt in seinem Zelt.

Als nun Cham, der Vater Chanaans, dies sah, dass nämlich seines Vaters Scham entblößt sei, verkündete er es seinen beiden Brüdern draußen.

Aber Sem und Japheth legten einen Mantel auf ihre Schultern und deckten, rückwärts gehend, die Scham ihres Vaters zu, und ihr Angesicht war abgewendet, so dass sie die Scham ihres Vaters nicht sahen.

Als aber Noe vom Weine erwachte und erfuhr, was ihm sein jüngster Sohn angetan hatte,

sprach er: Verflucht sei Chanaan, der niedrigste Knecht soll er seinen Brüdern sein.

Und er sprach: Gepriesen sei der Herr, der Gott Sems; Chanaan sei sein Knecht!

Gott breite Japheth aus, und er wohne in den Gezelten Sems; und Chanaan sei sein Knecht!

Noe aber lebte nach der Flut dreihundert und fünfzig Jahre.

Und alle seine Tage wurden neunhundert und fünfzig Jahre, und er starb.
