- Kapitel 6 -

(Matthew 24:36–51)

So when men began to be multiplied vpon the earth, and there were daughters borne vnto them,

Then the sonnes of God sawe the daughters of men that they were faire, and they tooke them wiues of all that they liked.

Therefore the Lord saide, My Spirit shall not alway striue with man, because he is but flesh, and his dayes shalbe an hundreth and twentie yeeres.

There were gyants in the earth in those dayes: yea, and after that the sonnes of God came vnto the daughters of men, and they had borne them children, these were mightie men, which in olde time were men of renoume.

When the Lord sawe that the wickednesse of man was great in the earth, and all the imaginations of the thoughtes of his heart were onely euill continually,

Then it repented ye Lord, that he had made man in the earth, and he was sorie in his heart.

Therefore ye Lord said, I will destroy from the earth the man, whom I haue created, from man to beast, to the creeping thing, and to the foule of the heauen: for I repent that I haue made them.

Noah’s Favor with God

But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a iust and vpright man in his time: and Noah walked with God.

And Noah begate three sonnes, Shem, Ham and Iapheth.

The earth also was corrupt before God: for the earth was filled with crueltie.

Then God looked vpon the earth, and beholde, it was corrupt: for all flesh had corrupt his way vpon the earth.

Preparing the Ark

(Hebrews 11:7)

And God said vnto Noah, An ende of all flesh is come before me: for the earth is filled with crueltie through them: and beholde, I wil destroy them with the earth.

Make thee an Arke of pine trees: thou shalt make cabines in the Arke, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.

And thus shalt thou make it: The length of the Arke shalbe three hundreth cubites, the breadth of it fiftie cubites, and the height of it thirtie cubites.

A windowe shalt thou make in the Arke, and in a cubite shalt thou finish it aboue, and the doore of the Arke shalt thou set in the side thereof: thou shalt make it with the lowe, seconde and third roume.

And I, beholde, I will bring a flood of waters vpon the earth to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life vnder the heauen: all that is in the earth shall perish.

But with thee will I establish my couenant, and thou shalt goe into the Arke, thou, and thy sonnes, and thy wife, and thy sonnes wiues with thee.

And of euery liuing thing, of all flesh two of euery sort shalt thou cause to come into the Arke, to keepe them aliue with thee: they shalbe male and female.

Of the foules, after their kinde, and of the cattell after their kind, of euery creeping thing of the earth after his kinde, two of euery sort shall come vnto thee, that thou mayest keepe them aliue.

And take thou with thee of all meate that is eaten: and thou shalt gather it to thee, that it may be meate for thee and for them.

Noah therefore did according vnto all, that God commanded him: euen so did he.

Die Schlechtigkeit und das Gericht des Menschen

(Matthäus 24,36-51)

Als nun die Menschen anfingen, sich zu vermehren auf Erden und Töchter zeugten,

sahen die Söhne Gottes, dass die Töchter der Menschen schön waren, und nahmen sich zu Weibern alle, welche sie wollten.

Und Gott sprach: Mein Geist soll nicht ewig im Menschen bleiben; denn er ist Fleisch, und seine Tage sollen hundert und zwanzig Jahre sein.

Es waren aber in jenen Tagen die Riesen auf Erden; denn nachdem die Kinder Gottes zu den Töchtern der Menschen eingegangen waren, und diese Kinder geboren hatten, wurden dies die Gewaltigen, die von Alters her berühmten Männer.

Da aber Gott sah, dass die Bosheit der Menschen groß war auf Erden und alles Denken ihres Herzens immerdar auf das Böse gerichtet war,

reute es ihn, dass er den Menschen auf Erden geschaffen hatte. Und vom Schmerz im innersten Herzen ergriffen,

sprach er: Ich will den Menschen, den ich geschaffen habe, von der Erde vertilgen, Mensch und Getier, vom Gewürm bis zu den Vögeln des Himmels; denn es reuet mich, dass ich sie geschaffen habe.

Noe aber fand Gnade vor dem Herrn.

Noah erfreut Gott

Dies ist das Geschlecht Noes: Noe war ein gerechter Mann und vollkommen unter seinen Zeitgenossen; er wandelte mit Gott.

Und er zeugte drei Söhne: Sem, Cham und Japheth.

Aber die Erde ward verderbt vor Gott und ward mit Frevel erfüllt.

Und da Gott sah, dass die Erde verderbt war (denn alles Fleisch hatte seinen Wandel verderbt auf Erden),

Die Arche wird vorbereitet

(Hebräer 11,7)

sprach er zu Noe: Das Ende alles Fleisches ist bei mir beschlossen; die Erde ist mit Frevel erfüllt von ihnen, so will ich sie nun samt der Erde vernichten.

Baue dir eine Arche von geglättetem Holze, mache Kammern in die Arche, und verpiche sie von innen und außen mit Pech.

Und also sollst du sie machen: Dreihundert Ellen soll die Länge der Arche sein, fünfzig Ellen ihre Breite, und dreißig Ellen ihre Höhe.

Ein Fenster mache in der Arche, und eine Elle sei seine Höhe von oben; den Eingang der Arche aber bringe an der Seite an, und mache in ihr einen unteren Boden, einen Mittelraum und ein drittes Stockwerk.

Siehe, ich werde eine Wasserflut über die Erde kommen lassen, um alles Fleisch unter dem Himmel, das Odem des Lebens in sich hat, zu töten. Alles, was auf Erden ist, soll umkommen.

Doch mit dir will ich meinen Bund schließen; und du sollst in die Arche eingehen, du und deine Söhne, dein Weib und die Weiber deiner Söhne mit dir.

Und aus allen lebenden Wesen von allem Fleische führe je zwei in die Arche, dass sie mit dir leben bleiben, ein Männchen und ein Weibchen.

Von den Vögeln je nach ihrer Art, von dem Vieh je nach seiner Art, und von allem Gewürm der Erde je nach seiner Art: je zwei von allen sollen mit dir hineingehen, auf dass sie am Leben bleiben können.

Nimm daher von allem, was genossen werden kann, mit dir, und speichere es bei dir auf, und es diene sowohl dir als ihnen zur Nahrung.

Und Noe tat alles, was ihm Gott geboten hatte.
