The Prophet Ezekiel

- Kapitel 24 -

Again in the ninth yeere, in the tenth moneth, in the tenth day of the moneth, came the worde of the Lord vnto me, saying,

Sonne of man, write thee the name of the day, euen of this same day: for the King of Babel set himselfe against Ierusalem this same day.

Therefore speake a parable vnto the rebellious house, and say vnto them, Thus sayth the Lord God, Prepare a pot, prepare it, and also powre water into it.

Gather the pieces thereof into it, euen euery good piece, as the thigh and the shoulder, and fill it with the chiefe bones.

Take one of the best sheepe, and burne also the bones vnder it, and make it boyle well, and seethe the bones of it therein,

Because the Lord God sayth thus, Woe to the bloody citie, euen to the pot, whose skomme is therein, and whose skomme is not gone out of it: bring it out piece by piece: let no lot fall vpon it.

For her blood is in the middes of her: shee set it vpon an high rocke, and powred it not vpon on the ground to couer it with dust,

That it might cause wrath to arise, and take vengeance: euen I haue set her blood vpon an high rocke that it should not be couered.

Therefore thus saith ye Lord God, Woe to the bloody citie, for I will make ye burning great.

Heape on much wood: kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and cast in spice, and let the bones be burnt.

Then set it emptie vpon the coles thereof, that the brasse of it may be hot, and may burne, and that the filthinesse of it may be molten in it, and that the skomme of it may be consumed.

She hath wearied her selfe with lyes, and her great skomme went not out of her: therefore her skomme shall be consumed with fire.

Thou remainest in thy filthines and wickednes: because I would haue purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthines, till I haue caused my wrath to light vpon thee.

I the Lord haue spoken it: it shall come to passe, and I will doe it: I will not goe backe, neither will I spare, neither will I repent: according to thy wayes, and according to thy workes shall they iudge thee, sayeth the Lord God.

Ezekiel’s Wife Dies

Also the worde of ye Lord came vnto me, saying,

Sonne of man beholde, I take away from thee the pleasure of thine eyes with a plague: yet shalt thou neither mourne nor weepe, neither shall thy teares runne downe.

Cease from sighing: make no mourning for the dead, and binde the tyre of thine head vpon thee, and put on thy shooes vpon thy feete, and couer not thy lips, and eate not the bread of men.

So I spake vnto the people in the morning, and at euen my wife dyed: and I did in the morning, as I was commanded.

And the people said vnto me, Wilt thou not tell vs what these things meane towarde vs that thou doest so?

Then I answered them, The worde of the Lord came vnto me, saying,

Speake vnto the house of Israel, Thus sayth the Lord God, Behold, I will pollute my Sanctuarie, euen the pride of your power, the pleasure of your eyes, and your hearts desire, and your sonnes, and your daughters whom ye haue left, shall fall by the sworde.

And ye shall doe as I haue done: ye shall not couer your lippes, neither shall ye eate the bread of men.

And your tyre shalbe vpon your heads, and your shooes vpon your feete: ye shall not mourne nor weepe, but ye shall pine away for your iniquities, and mourne one toward another.

Thus Ezekiel is vnto you a signe: according to all that he hath done, ye shall do: and when this commeth, ye shall know that I am the Lord God.

Also, thou sonne of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their power, ye ioy of their honor, ye pleasure of their eyes, and the desire of their heart, their sonnes and their daughters?

That he that escapeth in that day, shall come vnto thee to tell thee that which hee hath heard with his eares?

In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and thou shalt speake, and be no more dumme, and thou shalt be a signe vnto them, and they shall knowe that I am the Lord.

Und es erging das Wort des Herrn an mich im neunten Jahre, im zehnten Monate, am zehnten Tage des Monats, also lautend:

Menschensohn! schreibe dir den Namen dieses Tages auf, denn heute nimmt der König von Babylon feste Stellung wider Jerusalem.

Sprich in einem Bilde zu dem widerspenstigen Haus im Gleichnisse und sage zu ihnen: So spricht der Herr, Gott: Setze einen Topf bei, je, setze ihn bei und gieß Wasser darein!

Tue Fleischstücke hinein, lauter gute Stücke, Lenden und Bug, auserlesene Stücke voller Knochen.

Nimm fettes Kleinvieh und schichte einen Holzstoß für die Knochen unter demselben auf; lass es aufsieden, dass auch die Knochen darin zerkochen!

Darum spricht der Herr, Gott, also: Wehe der Stadt der Blutschuld, dem Topfe, an dem ihr Rost sitzt, von dem der Rost nicht abgeht! wirf die Stücke, eines nach dem andern, heraus, kein Los ist darauf gefallen.

Denn ihr Blut ist in ihrer Mitte, auf nacktem Felsen hat sie es vergossen; nicht auf die Erde ließ sie es fließen, dass man es hätte mit Staub bedecken können.

Um meinen Zorn über sie kommen zu lassen und Rache üben zu können, habe ich das von ihr vergossene Blut auf den nackten Felsen fließen lassen, dass es nicht bedeckt werde.

Darum spricht der Herr, Gott, also: Wehe der Blutstadt, für die ich einen großen Holzstoß machen will!

Lege die Knochen aufeinander, dass ich sie im Feuer verbrenne; so soll das Fleisch verzehrt, die ganze Mischung zerkocht werden und das Gebein zergehen.

Setze auch den Topf leer auf glühende Kohlen, dass sein Erz heiß und fließend und die Unreinigkeit in seinem Innern weggeschmolzen und sein Rost verzehrt werde.

Viele Mühe war daran verwendet, aber sein vieler Rost ist nicht von ihm abgegangen, auch nicht durch Feuer.

Deine Unreinigkeit ist verabscheuungswürdig, denn ich wollte dich reinigen, aber du wurdest nicht rein von deinen Flecken; so sollst du denn auch ferner nicht rein werden, bis ich meinen Zorn vollends an dir ausgelassen.

Ich, der Herr, habe es gesprochen. Es wird kommen und ich werde es ausführen; ich werde nicht vorübergehen, nicht Schonung üben, nicht verzeihen; nach deinem Wandel und nach deinem Treiben werde ich dich richten, spricht der Herr.

Die Frau des Propheten stirbt

Und es erging an mich das Wort des Herrn also:

Menschensohn! siehe, ich werde dir die Lust deiner Augen durch plötzlichen Tod nehmen und du sollst nicht klagen noch weinen und keine Träne fließen lassen.

Seufze still, stelle keine Totenklage an, dein Kopfschmuck sei um dein Haupt gewunden und deine Schuhe seien an deinen Füßen, weder verhülle mit dem Gewande den Mund noch iß die Speise der Trauernden.

Also redete ich am Morgen zu dem Volke und am Abend starb mein Weib, am andern Morgen aber tat ich, wie mir befohlen war.

Da sprach das Volk zu mir: Warum tust du uns nicht kund, was dein Tun bedeutet?

Ich antwortete ihnen: Das Wort des Herrn erging an mich also:

Sage zum Hause Israel: Also spricht der Herr, Gott: Siehe, ich will entweihen mein Heiligtum, den Stolz eurer Herrschaft, die Lust eurer Augen, die bang Sorge eurer Seele; eure Söhne und eure Töchter, die ihr zurückgelassen habt, werden durch das Schwert fallen.

Da werdet ihr tun, was ich getan habe: Ihr werdet euren Mund nicht mit dem Gewande verhüllen und nicht die Speise der Trauernden essen.

Ihr werdet euren Kopfschmuck um eure Häupter tragen und die Schuhe an euren Füßen, ihr werdet nicht klagen noch weinen, sondern werdet in euren Sünden dahinschmachten und einer gegen den andern seufzen.

Und so wird Ezechiel auch zum Wahrzeichen sein: ganz wie er getan, werdet auch ihr tun, wenn es eintrifft, und ihr sollt erkennen, dass ich der Herr, Gott, bin.

Du aber, Menschensohn! siehe, an dem Tage, da ich ihnen ihre Zuversicht nehmen werde, die Freude über ihre Herrlichkeit und die Lust ihrer Augen, in der ihre Seelen ihre Befriedigung finden, ihre Söhne und Töchter;

wenn an dem Tage ein Flüchtling zu dir kommt, um dir Kunde zu bringen,

an jenem Tage, sage ich, wird dein Mund aufgetan werden zugleich mit dem des Flüchtlings; du sollst reden und nicht mehr schweigen und du wirst ihnen zum Wahrzeichen sein und ihr werdet erkennen, dass ich der Herr bin!
