- Kapitel 22 -

(2 Chronicles 18:1–11)

And they continued three yeere without warre betweene Aram and Israel.

And in the third yeere did Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah come downe to ye King of Israel.

(Then the King of Israel saide vnto his seruants, Knowe yee not that Ramoth Gilead was ours? and wee stay, and take it not out of ye hand of the King of Aram?)

And he sayde vnto Iehoshaphat, Wilt thou goe with mee to battel against Ramoth Gilead? And Iehoshaphat saide vnto the King of Israel, I am as thou art, my people as thy people, and mine horses as thine horses.

Then Iehoshaphat saide vnto the King of Israel, Aske counsaile, I pray thee, of the Lord to day.

Then the King of Israel gathered the prophets vpon a foure hundreth men, and said vnto them, Shal I go against Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall I let it alone? And they said, Go vp: for ye Lord shall deliuer it into the hands of the King.

And Iehoshaphat said, Is there here neuer a Prophet of the Lord more, that we might inquire of him?

And the King of Israel said vnto Iehoshaphat, There is yet one man (Michaiah the sonne of Imlah) by whom we may aske counsel of the Lord, but I hate him: for he doeth not prophecie good vnto me, but euill. And Iehoshaphat sayd, Let not the King say so.

Then the King of Israel called an Eunuche, and sayde, Call quickely Michaiah the sonne of Imlah.

And the King of Israel and Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah sate either of them on his throne in their apparell in the voyde place at the entring in of the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets prophecied before them.

And Zidkiiah the sonne of Chenaanah made him hornes of yron, and sayd, Thus sayth the Lord, With these shalt thou push the Aramites, vntill thou hast consumed them.

And all the prophets prophecied so, saying, Goe vp to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliuer it into the Kings hand.

Micaiah Prophesies against Ahab

(2 Chronicles 18:12–27)

And the messenger that was gone to call Michaiah spake vnto him, saying, Beholde now, the wordes of the prophets declare good vnto the King with one accorde: let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like the worde of one of them, and speake thou good.

And Michaiah saide, As the Lord liueth, whatsoeuer the Lord sayth vnto me, that will I speake.

So he came to the King, and the King said vnto him, Michaiah, shall we go against Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall we leaue off? And he answered him, Goe vp, and prosper: and the Lord shall deliuer it into the hand of the King.

And the King said vnto him, How oft shall I charge thee, that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the Name of the Lord?

Then he said, I sawe all Israel scattered vpon the mountaines, as sheepe that had no shepheard. And the Lord sayde, These haue no master, let euery man returne vnto his house in peace.

(And the King of Israel saide vnto Iehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee, that he would prophecie no good vnto me, but euill?)

Againe he said, Heare thou therefore the worde of the Lord. I sawe the Lord sit on his throne, and all the hoste of heauen stood about him on his right hand and on his left hand.

And the Lord sayd, Who shall entise Ahab that he may go and fall at Ramoth Gilead? And one said on this maner, and another sayd on that maner.

Then there came forth a spirit, and stoode before the Lord, and sayd, I wil entise him. And the Lord sayd vnto him, Wherewith?

And he sayd, I will goe out, and be a false spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. Then he sayd, Thou shalt entise him, and shalt also preuayle: goe forth, and doe so.

Now therefore behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirite in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the Lord hath appoynted euill against thee.

Then Zidkiiah the sonne of Chenaanah came neere, and smote Michaiah on the cheeke and sayd, When went the Spirite of the Lord from me, to speake vnto thee?

And Michaiah saide, Behold, thou shalt see in that day, when thou shalt goe from chamber to chamber to hide thee.

And the King of Israel sayd, Take Michaiah, and cary him vnto Amon the gouernour of the citie, and vnto Ioash the Kings sonne,

And say, Thus saith the King, Put this man in the prison house, and feede him with bread of affliction, and with water of affliction, vntill I returne in peace.

And Michaiah sayde, If thou returne in peace, the Lord hath not spoken by me. And he sayd, Hearken all ye people.

Ahab’s Defeat and Death

(2 Chronicles 18:28–34)

So the King of Israel and Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah went vp to Ramoth Gilead.

And the King of Israel sayde to Iehoshaphat, I will change mine apparell, and will enter into the battell, but put thou on thine apparell. And the King of Israel changed himselfe, and went into the battel.

And the King of Aram commanded his two and thirtie captaines ouer his charets, saying, Fight neither with small, nor great, saue onely against the King of Israel.

And when the captaines of the charets saw Iehoshaphat, they sayd, Surely it is the King of Israel, and they turned to fight against him: and Iehoshaphat cryed.

And when the captaines of the charets saw that he was not the King of Israel, they turned backe from him.

Then a certaine man drewe a bow mightily and smote the King of Israel betweene the ioyntes of his brigandine. Wherefore he sayde vnto his charet man, Turne thine hand and cary me out of the hoste: for I am hurt.

And the battel encreased that day, and the King stoode still in his charet against the Aramites, and dyed at euen: and the blood ran out of the wound into the middes of the charet.

And there went a proclamation thorowout the hoste about the going downe of the sunne, saying, Euery man to his citie, and euery man to his owne countrey.

So the King died, and was brought to Samaria, and they buried the King in Samaria.

And one washed the charet in the poole of Samaria, and the dogs licked vp his blood (and they washed his armour) according vnto the word of the Lord which he spake.

Concerning the rest of the actes of Ahab and all that he did, and the yuorie house which he built, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

So Ahab slept with his fathers, and Ahaziah his sonne reigned in his stead.

Jehoshaphat Reigns in Judah

(2 Chronicles 20:31–34)

And Iehoshaphat the sonne of Asa began to reigne vpon Iudah in the fourth yeere of Ahab King of Israel.

Iehoshaphat was fiue and thirty yere olde, when he began to reigne, and reigned fiue and twentie yeere in Ierusalem. And his mothers name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.

And he walked in all the wayes of Asa his father, and declined not therefrom, but did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord. Neuerthelesse the hie places were not taken away: for the people offred still and burnt incense in the hie places.

And Iehoshaphat made peace with the King of Israel.

Concerning the rest of the actes of Iehoshaphat, and his worthy deedes that he did, and his battels which he fought, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?

And the Sodomites, which remayned in the dayes of his father Asa, he put cleane out of the land.

There was then no King in Edom: the deputie was King.

Iehoshaphat made shippes of Tharshish to sayle to Ophir for golde, but they went not, for the shippes were broken at Ezion Gaber.

Then sayde Ahaziah the sonne of Ahab vnto Iehoshaphat, Let my seruants goe with thy seruants in the ships, But Iehoshaphat would not.

And Iehoshaphat did sleepe with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the citie of Dauid his father, and Iehoram his sonne reigned in his stead.

Ahaziah Reigns in Israel

(2 Kings 1:1–16)

Ahaziah the sonne of Ahab began to reigne ouer Israel in Samaria, the seuenteenth yeere of Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, and reigned two yeeres ouer Israel.

But he did euill in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, which made Israel to sinne.

For he serued Baal and worshipped him, and prouoked the Lord God of Israel vnto wrath, according vnto all that his father had done.

Micha warnt Ahab

(2. Chronik 18,1-11)

Hierauf vergingen drei Jahre ohne Krieg zwischen Syrien und Israel.

Im dritten Jahre aber zog Josaphat, der König von Juda, zu dem Könige von Israel.

(Da sagte der König von Israel zu seinen Dienern: Wisset ihr nicht, dass Ramoth Galaad uns gehört? Und wir versäumen, es der Gewalt des Königs von Syrien zu entreißen?)

Und er sprach zu Josaphat: Willst du mit mir in den Kampf nach Ramoth Galaad ziehen?

Josaphat sprach zu dem Könige von Israel: Wie ich bin, so auch du; mein Volk und dein Volk ist eines und meine Reiter sind deine Reiter. Dann sprach Josaphat zu dem Könige von Israel: Frage heute, ich bitte dich, den Herrn um seinen Ausspruch!

Da versammelte der König von Israel die Propheten, ungefähr vierhundert, und sprach zu ihnen: Soll ich nach Ramoth Galaad in den Krieg ziehen oder ruhig bleiben? Sie antworteten: Ziehe hin, denn der Herr wird es in die Hand des Königs geben.

Josaphat aber sprach: Ist hier kein Prophet des Herrn, dass wir durch ihn fragen?

Der König von Israel sprach zu Josaphat: Noch ist ein Mann da, durch welchen wir den Herrn befragen können; aber ich hasse ihn, weil er mir nie Gutes weissagt, sondern Böses, Michäas, der Sohn Jemlas. Josaphat sprach zu ihm: Rede nicht also, o König!

Da rief der König von Israel einen Kämmerer und sprach zu ihm: Führe eilends Michäas, den Sohn Jemlas, herbei!

Während nun der König von Israel und Josaphat, der König von Juda, ein jeder auf seinem Throne saßen, mit königlichem Schmuck angetan, auf dem Platze am Tore von Samaria, weissagten alle Propheten vor ihnen.

Auch machte sich Sedekias, der Sohn Chanaanas, eiserne Hörner und sprach: So spricht der Herr: Mit solchen wirst du Syrien niederwerfen, bis du es vernichtest.

Und alle Propheten gaben ähnliche Weissagungen und sprachen: Ziehe hinauf nach Ramoth Galaad und dein Weg sei glücklich, der Herr wird es in die Hand des Königs geben!

(2. Chronik 18,12-27)

Der Bote aber, der hingegangen war, Michäas zu rufen, redete zu ihm also: Siehe, die Reden der Propheten verkünden einstimmig dem Könige Gutes; darum lass auch dein Wort dem ihrigen gleich sein und rede Gutes.

Michäas aber sprach zu ihm: So wahr der Herr lebt, was mir der Herr sagen wird, das werde ich reden!

Als er nun zum Könige kam und der König zu ihm sprach: Michäas, sollen wir nach Ramoth Galaad in den Kampf ziehen oder davon abstehen? antwortete er ihm: Ziehe hin, dein Weg sei glücklich, der Herr wird es in die Hand des Königs geben!

Der König aber sprach zu ihm: Wiederum beschwöre ich dich, dass du mir nichts sagest, als was wahr ist, im Namen des Herrn!

Da sprach jener: Ich sah ganz Israel auf den Bergen zerstreut, wie Schafe, die keinen Hirten haben, und der Herr sprach: Diese haben keinen Herrn; ein jeder möge in sein Haus in Frieden zurückkehren.

(Der König von Israel also sprach zu Josaphat: Habe ich dir nicht gesagt, dass er mir nie Gutes weissagt, sondern immer Böses?)

Jener aber fuhr fort und sprach: Darum höre das Wort des Herrn: Ich sah den Herrn auf seinem Throne sitzend und das ganze Heer des Himmels zu seiner Rechten und zu seiner Linken vor ihm stehen.

Und der Herr sprach: Wer will Achab, den König von Israel, betören, dass er hinziehe und bei Ramoth Galaad falle? Da sprach einer so, ein anderer anders.

Endlich trat ein Geist vor und stellte sich vor den Herrn und sprach: Ich will ihn betören! Der Herr aber sprach zu ihm: Womit?

Er antwortete: Ich will ausgehen und zu einem Geiste der Lüge in dem Munde aller seiner Propheten werden. Da sprach der Herr: Du wirst ihn betören und seiner mächtig werden, gehe aus und tue also!

So hat also, siehe, der Herr in den Mund aller deiner Propheten, die hier sind, einen Geist der Lüge gegeben, während der Herr Böses wider dich geredet hat.

Da trat Sedekias, der Sohn Chanaanas, herzu, schlug Michäas auf die Wange und sprach: Also hat der Geist des Herrn mich verlassen und hat zu dir geredet?

Michäas aber sprach: Du wirst es an dem Tage sehen, an dem du in das innerste Gemach gehen wirst, um dich zu verbergen.

Der König von Israel aber sprach: Nehmet Michäas, er bleibe bei Amon, dem Befehlshaber der Stadt, und bei Joas, dem Sohne Amelechs,

und zu diesen saget: So spricht der König: Werfet diesen Mann in den Kerker und speiset ihn mit dem Brote der Trübsal und mit dem Wasser der Bedrängnis, bis ich in Frieden zurückkehre.

Michäas antwortete: Wenn du in Frieden zurückkehrst, so hat der Herr nicht durch mich geredet. Und er sprach: Höret es, ihr Völker alle!

Ahab stirbt in der Schlacht

(2. Chronik 18,28-34)

So zog der König von Israel und Josaphat, der König von Juda, hinauf nach Ramoth Galaad.

Und der König von Israel sprach zu Josaphat: Nimm deine Waffen und ziehe in den Kampf und bleibe mit deinen Kleidern angetan! Der König von Israel aber veränderte seine Kleidung und zog in den Kampf.

Der König von Syrien nun hatte den zweiunddreißig Obersten seiner Wagen befohlen und gesagt: Kämpfet gegen keinen, er sei gering oder groß, außer allein gegen den König von Israel!

Als daher die Obersten der Wagen Josaphat sahen, meinten sie, es sei der König von Israel, und drangen auf ihn ein und kämpften gegen ihn, Josaphat aber schrie auf.

Da erkannten die Obersten der Wagen, dass es nicht der König von Israel sei, und ließen von ihm ab.

Ein Mann aber spannte seinen Bogen und schoß den Pfeil in´s Ungewisse und traf zufällig den König von Israel zwischen Lunge und Magen. Da sprach dieser zu seinem Wagenlenker: wende um und führe mich eiligst aus dem Heere fort, denn ich bin schwer verwundet.

So fand der Kampf an jenem Tage statt und der König von Israel blieb in seinem Wagen den Syrern gegenüber stehen und starb am Abend; und das Blut floss aus der Wunde auf den Boden des Wagens.

Da rief ein Herold, ehe noch die Sonne niederging, durch das ganze Kriegsheer und sprach: Ein jeder kehre in seine Stadt und in sein Land zurück!

Der König aber starb und ward nach Samaria gebracht und sie begruben ihn in Samaria.

Als sie nun seinen Wagen an dem Teiche von Samaria abwuschen, leckten die Hunde sein Blut und sie wuschen das Geschirr, nach dem Worte des Herrn, welches er gesprochen hatte.

Was aber sonst von Achab zu sagen ist und alles, was er getan, und das elfenbeinerne Haus, das er gebaut hat, ist das nicht beschrieben in den Jahrbüchern der Könige von Israel?

So entschlief Achab zu seinen Vätern und Ochozias, sein Sohn, ward König an seiner Statt.

Joschafat regiert in Juda

(2. Chronik 20,31-34)

Josaphat aber, der Sohn Asas, war König über Juda geworden im vierten Jahre Achabs, des Königs von Israel.

Er war fünfunddreißig Jahre alt, da er zu herrschen begann, und er herrschte fünfundzwanzig Jahre in Jerusalem; der Name seiner Mutter war Azuba, eine Tochter Salais.

Er wandelte ganz auf dem Wege seine Vaters Asa und wich nicht davon ab und er tat, was vor dem Herrn recht war;

indes die Höhen schaffte er nicht ab, denn das Volk opferte noch und zündete auf den Höhen Räucherwerk an.

Und Josaphat hatte Frieden mit dem Könige von Israel.

Was aber sonst von Josaphat zu sagen ist und seine Taten, die er getan, und seine Schlachten, ist das nicht beschrieben in den Jahrbüchern der Könige von Juda?

Aber auch der Rest der Buhldiener, die in den Tagen seines Vaters Asa übriggeblieben waren, schaffte er aus dem Lande.

Damals war kein König in Edom.

Und der König Josaphat baute Schiffe auf dem Meere, welche um Gold nach Ophir fahren sollten; aber sie konnten nicht abgehen, denn sie zerschellten in Asiongaber.

Da sprach Ochozias, der Sohn Achabs, zu Josaphat: Lass meine Diener mit deinen Dienern zu Schiffe gehen! Aber Josaphat wollte nicht.

Ahasja regiert in Israel

(2. Könige 1,1-16)

Und Josaphat entschlief zu seinen Vätern und ward bei ihnen in der Stadt seines Vaters David begraben und sein Sohn Joram ward König an seiner Statt.

Ochozias aber, der Sohn Achabs, war in Samaria König geworden im siebzehnten Jahre Josaphats, des Königs von Juda, und er herrschte über Israel zwei Jahre.

Er tat, was vor dem Herrn böse war, und wandelte auf dem Wege seines Vaters und seiner Mutter und auf dem Wege Jeroboams, des Sohnes Nabats, welcher Israel zur Sünde verführt hatte.

Und er diente dem Baal und betete ihn an und reizte den Herrn, den Gott Israels, zum Zorn, ganz so, wie sein Vater getan hatte.
