- Kapitel 3 -

Admonish them to be subordinate to the rulers and authorities, to obey their dictates, to be prepared for every good work,

to speak evil of no one, not to be litigious, but to be reserved, displaying all meekness toward all men.

For, in times past, we ourselves were also unwise, unbelieving, erring, servants of various desires and pleasures, acting with malice and envy, being hateful and hating one another.

But then the kindness and humanity of God our Savior appeared.

And he saved us, not by works of justice that we had done, but, in accord with his mercy, by the washing of regeneration and by the renovation of the Holy Spirit,

whom he has poured out upon us in abundance, through Jesus Christ our Savior,

so that, having been justified by his grace, we may become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

This is a faithful saying. And I want you to confirm these things, so that those who believe in God may take care to excel in good works. These things are good and useful to men.

Avoid Divisions

(Romans 16:17–20)

But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, as well as arguments against the law. For these are useless and empty.

Avoid a man who is a heretic, after the first and second correction,

knowing that one who is like this has been subverted, and that he offends; for he has been condemned by his own judgment.(a)

Final Remarks and Greetings

When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, hurry to return to me at Nicopolis. For I have decided to winter there.(b)

Send Zenas the lawyer and Apollo ahead with care, and let nothing be lacking to them.

But let our men also learn to excel in good works pertaining to the necessities of life, so that they may not be unfruitful.

All those who are with me greet you. Greet those who love us in the faith. May the grace of God be with you all. Amen.

Gnaden der Erben der Gnade

Mahne sie, den Fürsten und Gewalten untertan zu sein, den Befehlen Gehorsam zu leisten, zu jedem guten Werke bereit zu sein,

niemanden zu lästern, nicht streitsüchtig, sondern nachgiebig zu sein, und alle Sanftmut zu beweisen gegen alle Menschen.

Denn einst waren auch wir unverständig, ungläubig, verirrt, mancherlei Begierden und Lüsten fröhnend, in Bosheit und Neid dahinlebend, verabscheuungswürdig, einander hassend.

Als aber die Güte und Menschenfreundlichkeit Gottes, unsers Heilandes, erschien,

hat er uns nicht wegen der Werke, die wir in Gerechtigkeit getan, sondern nach seiner Erbarmung gerettet durch das Bad der Wiedergeburt und der Erneuerung des Heiligen Geistes,

welchen er überreichlich auf uns ausgegossen hat durch Jesus Christus, unsern Heiland,

damit wir, gerechtfertigt durch seine Gnade, der Hoffnung gemäß Erben würden des ewigen Lebens.

Zuverlässig ist das Wort, und ich will, dass du dies bekräftigest, damit diejenigen, welche an Gott gläubig geworden sind, beflissen seien gute Werke zu üben. Dies ist den Menschen gut und heilsam.

Vermeidet Zwietracht

(Römer 16,17-20)

Auf törichte Streitfragen aber, Geschlechtsregister, Zänkereien und Streitigkeiten über das Gesetz lass dich nicht ein; denn sie sind unnütz und eitel.

Einen ketzerischen Menschen meide, nach ein- oder zweimaliger Zurechtweisung;

da du weißt, dass ein solcher verkehrt ist und sündigt, als einer, der durch sein eigenes Urteil verdammt ist.

Letzte Botschaften

Wenn ich Artemas oder Tychikus zu dir sende, so eile zu mir nach Nikopolis zu kommen; denn daselbst habe ich beschlossen, den Winter über zu bleiben.

Zenas, den Gesetzkundigen, und Apollo sende voraus, und sorge, dass ihnen nichts mangle.

Aber auch die Unsrigen mögen lernen, gute Werke zu üben zur Befriedigung nötiger Bedürfnisse, damit sie nicht unfruchtbar seien.
