- Kapitel 10 -

(Mark 3:13–19; Luke 6:12–16)

And having called together his twelve disciples, he gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out and to cure every sickness and every infirmity.

Now the names of the twelve Apostles are these: the First, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother,

James of Zebedee, and John his brother, Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the tax collector, and James of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus,

Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

The Ministry of the Twelve

(Mark 6:7–13; Luke 9:1–6)

Jesus sent these twelve, instructing them, saying: “Do not travel by the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter into the city of the Samaritans,

but instead go to the sheep who have fallen away from the house of Israel.(a)

And going forth, preach, saying: ‘For the kingdom of heaven has drawn near.’

Cure the infirm, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You have received freely, so give freely.

Do not choose to possess gold, nor silver, nor money in your belts,

nor provisions for the journey, nor two tunics, nor shoes, nor a staff. For the laborer deserves his portion.(b)

Now, into whatever city or town you will enter, inquire as to who is worthy within it. And stay there until you depart.

Then, when you enter into the house, greet it, saying, ‘Peace to this house.’

And if, indeed, that house is worthy, your peace will rest upon it. But if it is not worthy, your peace will return to you.

And whoever has neither received you, nor listened to your words, departing from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.

Amen I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.

Sheep among Wolves

(2 Timothy 1:3–12)

Behold, I am sending you like sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore, be as prudent as serpents and as simple as doves.(d)

But beware of men. For they will hand you over to councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues.

And you shall be led before both rulers and kings for my sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.

But when they hand you over, do not choose to think about how or what to speak. For what to speak shall be given to you in that hour.

For it is not you who will be speaking, but the Spirit of your Father, who will speak in you.

And brother will hand over brother to death, and father will hand over son. And children will rise up against parents and bring about their deaths.

And you will be hated by all for the sake of my name. But whoever will have persevered, even to the end, the same shall be saved.

Now when they persecute you in one city, flee into another. Amen I say to you, you will not have exhausted all the cities of Israel, before the Son of man returns.

The disciple is not above the teacher, nor is the servant above his master.

It is sufficient for the disciple that he be like his teacher, and the servant, like his master. If they have called the Father of the family, ‘Beelzebub,’ how much more those of his household?

Fear God Alone

(Luke 12:4–7)

Therefore, do not fear them. For nothing is covered that shall not be revealed, nor hidden that shall not be known.

What I tell you in darkness, speak in the light. And what you hear whispered in the ear, preach above the rooftops.

And do not be afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. But instead fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Hell.

Are not two sparrows sold for one small coin? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father.

For even the hairs of your head have all been numbered.

Therefore, do not be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows.

Confessing Christ

(Luke 12:8–12)

Therefore, everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father, who is in heaven.

But whoever will have denied me before men, I also will deny before my Father, who is in heaven.

Not Peace but a Sword

(Micah 7:1–6; Luke 12:49–53)

Do not think that I came to send peace upon the earth. I came, not to send peace, but the sword.

For I came to divide a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.(e)

And the enemies of a man will be those of his own household.

Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me. And whoever loves son or daughter above me is not worthy of me.

And whoever does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.

Whoever finds his life, will lose it. And whoever will have lost his life because of me, shall find it.

The Reward of Service

(2 Kings 4:8–17)

Whoever receives you, receives me. And whoever receives me, receives him who sent me.

Whoever receives a prophet, in the name of a prophet, shall receive the reward of a prophet. And whoever receives the just in the name of the just shall receive the reward of the just.

And whoever shall give, even to one of the least of these, a cup of cold water to drink, solely in the name of a disciple: Amen I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.”

Die Zwölf Apostel

Und er rief seine zwölf Jünger zusammen, und gab ihnen Gewalt über unreine Geister, dass sie dieselben austreiben, und jegliche Krankheit und jegliches Gebrechen heilten.

Der zwölf Apostel Namen aber sind diese. Der erste: Simon, welcher Petrus genannt wird, und Andreas sein Bruder;

Jakobus, der Sohn des Zebedäus, und Johannes, sein Bruder; Philippus und Bartholomäus; Thomas und Matthäus, der Zöllner; Jakobus, der Sohn des Alphäus, und Thaddäus;

Simon, der Kanaanäer, und Judas Iskariot, derselbe, der ihn auch überantwortet hat.

Die Aussendung der Zwölf

(Markus 6,7-13; Lukas 9,1-6)

Diese Zwölf sandte Jesus aus, indem er ihnen gebot und sprach: Auf den Weg zu den Heiden gehet nicht, und tretet nicht ein in die Städte der Samariter;

sondern gehet vielmehr zu den verlornen Schafen des Hauses Israel.

Indem ihr aber hingehet, prediget und sprechet: Das Himmelreich hat sich genaht.

Heilet die Kranken, erwecket die Toten, machet die Aussätzigen rein, treibet die Teufel aus; umsonst habt ihr es empfangen, umsonst gebet.

Besitzet weder Gold noch Silber, noch (anderes) Geld in euren Gürteln,

auch keine Tasche auf dem Wege, noch zwei Kleider, nicht Schuhe, noch Stab; denn der Arbeiter ist seines Unterhaltes wert.

In welche Stadt aber, oder in welchen Flecken ihr immer kommen werdet, da fraget, wer darin würdig sei, und bleibet da, bis ihr fort gehet.

Indem ihr aber in ein Haus tretet, begrüßet es, und saget: Friede sei mit diesem Hause!

Wenn nun das Haus dessen würdig ist, so wird euer Friede über dasselbe kommen; ist es aber dessen nicht würdig, so wird euer Friede auf euch zurückkehren.

Und wer immer euch nicht aufnimmt, und eure Reden nicht anhört, da gehet hinaus aus dessen Hause oder aus der Stadt, und schüttelt den Staub von euern Füßen.

Wahrlich, ich sage euch, erträglicher wird es dem Lande der Sodomiter und Gomorrhiter ergehen am Tage des Gerichtes, als jener Stadt!

Verfolgungen sind im Anmarsch

(2. Timotheus 1,3-12)

Sehet, ich sende euch wie Schafe inmitten von Wölfen. Seid daher klug wie die Schlangen, und einfältig wie die Tauben!

Nehmet euch aber in Acht vor den Menschen; denn sie werden euch an Gerichtshöfe überantworten, und in ihren Synagogen euch geißeln.

Und vor Statthalter und vor Könige werdet ihr geführt werden um meinetwillen, ihnen und den Heiden zum Zeugnisse.

Wenn sie euch aber überantworten, so seid nicht besorgt, wie oder was ihr reden sollet; denn es wird euch in jener Stunde gegeben werden, was ihr reden sollet.

Denn nicht ihr seid es, die da reden, sondern der Geist eures Vaters ist es, der in euch redet.

Es wird aber ein Bruder den andern in den Tod liefern, und der Vater das Kind; und die Kinder werden sich auflehnen gegen die Eltern, und sie um´s Leben bringen.

Und ihr werdet gehasst werden von allen um meines Namens willen; wer aber ausharret bis an´s Ende, der wird gerettet werden.

Wenn sie euch aber verfolgen werden in dieser Stadt, so fliehet in die andere; wahrlich, ich sage euch, ihr werdet nicht mit allen Städten Israels zu Ende gekommen sein, bis der Sohn des Menschen kommen wird!

Ein Jünger ist nicht über dem Meister, noch ein Knecht über seinem Herrn.

Es ist genug für den Jünger, zu sein wie sein Meister, und für den Knecht, zu sein wie sein Herr. Haben sie den Hausherrn Beelzebub geheißen, um wie viel mehr seine Hausgenossen?

(Lukas 12,4-7)

Darum fürchtet sie nicht; denn es ist nichts verborgen, was nicht offenbar wird, und nichts geheim, was nicht kund werden wird.

Jesus lehrt die Furcht vor Gott

Was ich euch im Finstern sage, das redet im Lichte; und was ihr in´s Ohr höret, das predigt auf den Dächern.

Und fürchtet euch nicht vor denen, welche den Leib töten, die Seele aber nicht töten können; sondern fürchtet vielmehr denjenigen, der Seele und Leib in´s Verderben der Hölle stürzen kann.

Sind nicht zwei Sperlinge zu kaufen um einen Pfennig? und nicht ein einziger von ihnen wird auf die Erde fallen ohne euern Vater.

An euch aber sind die Haare des Hauptes alle gezählt.

Darum fürchtet euch nicht; ihr seid besser als viele Sperlinge.

Bekenntnis zu Christus vor den Menschen

(Lukas 12,8-12)

Ein jeder also, der mich vor den Menschen bekennen wird, den will auch ich vor meinem Vater bekennen, der im Himmel ist;

wer mich aber vor den Menschen verleugnet, den will auch ich vor meinem Vater verleugnen, der im Himmel ist.

Christus bringt Spaltung

(Micha 7,1-6; Lukas 12,49-53)

Glaubet nicht, dass ich gekommen bin, Frieden auf die Erde zu bringen; ich bin nicht gekommen, Frieden zu bringen, sondern das Schwert.

Denn ich bin gekommen, zu entzweien den Menschen wider seinen Vater, die Tochter wider die Mutter, und die Schwiegertochter wider ihre Schwiegermutter;

und des Menschen Hausgenossen werden seine Feinde sein.

Wer Vater oder Mutter mehr liebt als mich, ist meiner nicht wert; und wer den Sohn oder die Tochter mehr liebt als mich, ist meiner nicht wert.

Und wer sein Kreuz nicht auf sich nimmt, und mir nachfolget, ist meiner nicht wert.

Wer sein Leben gewonnen hat, wird es verlieren; und wer sein Leben verliert um meinetwillen, wird es gewinnen.

Ein Becher mit kaltem Wasser

(2. Könige 4,8-17)

Wer euch aufnimmt, nimmt mich auf; und wer mich aufnimmt, nimmt denjenigen auf, welcher mich gesandt hat.

Wer einen Propheten aufnimmt auf den Namen eines Propheten hin, wird Prophetenlohn empfangen; und wer einen Gerechten aufnimmt auf den Namen eines Gerechten hin, wird eines Gerechten Lohn empfangen.

Und wer einen von diesen Geringsten nur einen Becher kalten Wassers zu trinken reicht auf den Jüngernamen hin, wahrlich, ich sage euch, er wird seines Lohnes nicht verlustig gehen!
