- Kapitel 4 -

(Zephaniah 1:7–18; 1 Thessalonians 5:1–11; 2 Peter 3:8–13)

For, behold, the day will arrive, kindled like a furnace, and all the arrogant and all those who act impiously will be stubble. And the approaching day will inflame them, says the Lord of hosts; it will leave behind for them neither root, nor sprout.

But unto you, who fear my name, the Sun of justice will arise, and health will be in his wings. And you will go forth and leap like the calves of the herd.

And you will trample the impious, while they will be ashes under the sole of your foot, on the day that I act, says the Lord of hosts.

Remember the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded him on Horeb for all Israel, the precepts and the judgments.(a)

Behold, I will send to you Elijah the prophet, before the arrival of the great and terrible day of the Lord.

And he will turn the heart of the fathers to the sons, and the heart of the sons to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with anathema.(b)

Der große Tag Gottes

(Zephanja 1,7-18; 1. Thessalonicher 5,1-11; 2. Petrus 3,8-13)

Denn sehet, es wird der Tag kommen, glühend wie ein Ofen, und alle Übermütigen und alle, welche Freveltat verüben, werden zu Stoppeln werden; der Tag, der da naht, wird sie in Flammen setzen, spricht der Herr der Heerscharen, und wird ihnen weder Wurzel noch Zweig übrig lassen.

Aber euch, die ihr meinen Namen fürchtet, wird die Sonne der Gerechtigkeit aufgehen, Heilung ist unter ihren Flügeln und ihr werdet hervorkommen und hüpfen wie Kälber der Herde.

Und ihr werdet die Gottlosen niedertreten; wie Asche werden sie unter den Sohlen eurer Füße werden an dem Tage, da ich handle, spricht der Herr der Heerscharen.

Gedenket an das Gesetz Moses, meines Dieners, das ich ihm auf Horeb für ganz Israel aufgetragen, Satzungen und Rechte.

Sehet, ich werde euch den Propheten Elias senden, bevor der große und furchtbare Tag des Herrn hereinbricht.

Er wird der Väter Herz den Söhnen zuwenden und der Söhne Herz ihren Vätern, damit ich, wenn ich komme, nicht die Erde mit dem Fluche treffen müsse.
