- Kapitel 6 -

But, as a help to you, we exhort you not to receive the grace of God in vain.

For he says: “In a favorable time, I heeded you; and on the day of salvation, I helped you.” Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

May we never give offense to anyone, so that our ministry may not be disparaged.

But in all things, let us exhibit ourselves as ministers of God with great patience: through tribulation, difficulties, and distress;

despite wounds, imprisonment, and rebellion; with hard work, vigilance, and fasting;

by chastity, knowledge, and longsuffering; in pleasantness, in the Holy Spirit, and in unfeigned charity;

with the Word of truth, with the power of God, and with the armor of justice to the right and to the left;

through honor and dishonor, despite good reports and bad, whether seen as deceivers or truth-tellers, whether ignored or acknowledged;

as if dying and yet truly alive; as if chastised and yet not subdued;(a)

as if sorrowful and yet always rejoicing; as if needy and yet enriching many; as if having nothing and possessing everything.

Our mouth is open to you, O Corinthians; our heart is enlarged.

You are not narrowed by us, but it is by your own inner selves that you are narrowed.

But since we have the same recompense, (I am speaking as if to my own sons), you, too, should be enlarged.

Do Not Be Unequally Yoked

Do not choose to bear the yoke with unbelievers. For how can justice be a participant with iniquity? Or how can the fellowship of light be a participant with darkness?

And how can Christ join together with Belial? Or what part do the faithful have with the unfaithful?

And what consensus does the temple of God have with idols? For you are the temple of the living God, just as God says: “I will dwell with them, and I will walk among them. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Because of this, you must depart from their midst and be separate, says the Lord. And do not touch what is unclean.

Then I will accept you. And I will be a Father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.”

(a)6:9 The word ‘mortificati’ in this context does not refer to death itself, but to the mortification of the flesh by temporal punishment; the meaning is that the Christian is castigated (severely punished with bodily sufferings) by the unbelievers, but is not subdued so as to turn away from Christ.(Conte)

Zeichen des Dienstes

Als Mitarbeiter aber ermahnen wir euch, dass ihr nicht fruchtlos die Gnade Gottes empfanget.

Denn er spricht: “Zur genehmen Zeit habe ich dich erhört, und am Tage des Heiles habe ich dir geholfen!” Sehet, jetzt ist die gnadenreiche Zeit, sehet, jetzt ist der Tag des Heiles!

Geben wir niemanden irgend einen Anstoß, damit unser Amt nicht getadelt werde;

vielmehr erweisen wir uns in allen Dingen als Diener Gottes in vieler Geduld, in Trübsalen, in Nöten, in Ängsten,

bei Schlägen, in Gefängnissen, bei Aufruhr, bei Mühen, bei Nachtwachen, bei Fasten,

durch Reinheit, durch Weisheit, durch Langmut, durch Freundlichkeit, durch den Heiligen Geist, durch ungeheuchelte Liebe,

durch das Wort der Wahrheit, durch die Kraft Gottes, durch die Waffen der Gerechtigkeit zum Angriff und zur Verteidigung,

bei Ehre und Schmach, bei schlechtem und gutem Ruf; als Verführer geachtet, und doch wahrhaft, als Unbekannte, und doch Bekannte;

als Sterbende, und siehe, wir leben; als Gezüchtigte, und doch nicht zum Tode Gebrachte;

als Trauernde, und doch immerdar Fröhliche, als Arme, und viele Bereichernde, als nichts Habende, und alles Besitzende.

Heilig sein

Unser Mund ist aufgetan gegen euch, ihr Korinther! Unser Herz ist weit geworden.

Beengt werdet ihr nicht in uns, aber beengt in euren eigenen Herzen.

Da ihr nun die gleiche Vergeltung haben werdet, ich rede zu meinen Kindern. So erweitert auch ihr euer Herz.

Ziehet nicht ein Joch mit den Ungläubigen; denn welche Gemeinschaft hat die Gerechtigkeit mit der Ungerechtigkeit? Oder wie kann sich das Licht mit der Finsternis vereinigen?

Wie stimmt Christus mit Belial überein? Oder welchen Anteil hat der Gläubige mit dem Ungläubigen?

Wie verträgt sich der Tempel Gottes mit den Götzen? Denn ihr seid ein Tempel des lebendigen Gottes, wie Gott spricht: Ich werde in ihnen wohnen, und unter ihnen wandeln, und ich werde ihr Gott, und sie werden mein Volk sein.

Darum gehet hinweg aus ihrer Mitte, und sondert euch ab, spricht der Herr, und rühret nicht an, was unrein ist,

so werde ich euch annehmen; und ich werde euer Vater sein, und ihr werdet meine Söhne und Töchter sein, spricht der Herr, der Allmächtige.
